Here Comes the Barrage

From Obama campaign manager Jim Messina:

In naming Congressman Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney has chosen a leader of the House Republicans who shares his commitment to the flawed theory that new budget-busting tax cuts for the wealthy, while placing greater burdens on the middle class and seniors, will somehow deliver a stronger economy.

The architect of the radical Republican House budget, Ryan, like Romney, proposed an additional $250,000 tax cut for millionaires, and deep cuts in education from Head Start to college aid.

His plan also would end Medicare as we know it by turning it into a voucher system, shifting thousands of dollars in health care costs to seniors.

As a member of Congress, Ryan rubber-stamped the reckless Bush economic policies that exploded our deficit and crashed our economy. Now the Romney-Ryan ticket would take us back by repeating the same, catastrophic mistakes.

From Sen. Harry Reid:

By picking Representative Paul Ryan, Governor  Romney has doubled down on his commitment to gut Social Security and end Medicare as we know it. Romney’s choice demonstrates that catering to the Tea Party and the far-right is more important to him that standing up for the middle class.

The months ahead will provide Americans with a clear choice between the Romney-Ryan plan to gut Social Security and Medicare, and Democrats’ balanced approach to deficit reduction that combines smart spending cuts with asking millionaires and billionaires to pay their fair share. Democrats in the Senate look forward to engaging in that debate.

Uh...then why do so many bilionaires support Obama? Duh!

Aristocat| 8.12.12 @ 4:19AM

I think it's a mistake because it gives Obama a campaign issue...He can now run against the Ryan budget, which includes Medicare cuts, etc.
instead of having to defend the Obama budget, which got not one single vote in either house...
The Ryan budget was a fantasy because the Senate was not going to even look at it, much less pass it....Why give them campaign material for no reason?

Oldefarte| 8.12.12 @ 12:20PM

Let the domestic terrorists try to run against the Ryan Plan.....PLEASE! Let them try to redirect the conversation from their sleeziness and gutter political crapola from the toilets of Chicago politics to a discussion of his budgetary outline and for the gradual dismantling of our historical welfare state from Democrat-controlled administrations for the last 60 years. Let them try........please!!!!!!!!!!!

Oldefarte| 8.12.12 @ 12:22PM

Ken, those billionaires are NOT supporting him any longer. They did [just like many STUPIDS] in 2008 but not now. Wall Street and wealthy [even Jewish voters] are turning aginst him after he's come out of his closet over the last 3 plus years to disclose who/what he really is!!!!!!!!!!

Oldefarte| 8.12.12 @ 12:26PM

PS: His political support is coming from [1]ultra liberals of the NE [2] Hollywood, naturally [3] minorities, nickle and dime wise and [4] oil wealthy Muslim sheiks etc from the ME. The business community of th US are sick and tired of his 'millionaires and billionaires' BS!!!!!!!!

Kingofthenet| 8.11.12 @ 12:42PM

Because they want to go to Heaven.

Oldefarte| 8.11.12 @ 9:33PM

Sorry they're all going in the opposite direction!!!!

JmsA| 8.11.12 @ 12:42PM

Nothing more than old, tired nonsense from two wet blanket wannabes.

Oldefarte| 8.12.12 @ 12:16PM

Really, and your choice/solution is WHO?????

BD57| 8.11.12 @ 1:28PM

So the "We don't have a plan, we just don't like yours" caucus is heard from.

Obama is going to end Medicare as we know it by bankrupting it.

Oldefarte| 8.11.12 @ 2:06PM

BRING IT ON, you domestic terrorists, bring it on! Many of us have been praying for this confrontation for years. The lines are clearly drawn, with the welfaric providers of community organizing, cradle to grave government teat-sucking by their indigent constituents continue their GSAisms, while painting LYINGLY the normals as racists, financial tightwads, homophobes etc and laughing at the American taxpayer. Bring it on MF'er! You're going down in November, and your nailfiling government welfare providers making $200000/year while private sector employees are losing their jobs every minute will cease come January. Bring it on, BarryJos! Try and defend the indefensable, the corruption, the sleeziness, the lying, the extortion, the stealing!!!!!!!!!

Kingofthenet| 8.11.12 @ 2:33PM

$5.98+ a Paul Ryan Voucher= an Ace bandage at Walmart

Oldefarte| 8.11.12 @ 9:35PM

If ya boy is re-elected Walmart will be turned into another government welfare office dispensing birth control to the stupidconstituents of the Democrats that can't keep their legs crossed!!!!!!!!!

Bob S| 8.11.12 @ 2:36PM

What happened to hope and change? Seems to me this is just desperation and same old dirty tricks.

darcy| 8.11.12 @ 2:47PM

In other words, Romney's selection of Ryan means that he intends to fix the messes caused by liberal, socialist policies, and Democrats have a vested interest in making sure that doesn't happen: They will paint the Comeback Team as villains to do so.

When a considered and ameliorative plan is termed "radical," you know you're dealing with LIARS and people who mean you HARM, whose mission in life is to inflict debt, doubt, and despair on Americans so they can continue to loot the country for their own gain.

Same old greed, graft, and lies. They deserve the swift kick on the backside they're going to get from the American voter.

Bob Grant| 8.11.12 @ 3:14PM

I'm sure The Adult (aka Paul Ryan) would just love to engage Harry Reid in a debate on Medicare, or any topic for that matter.

Oldefarte| 8.11.12 @ 9:39PM

Nah, Harryars would be too busy taking bags of cash from the gambling and prostitution elements of Vegas to have time to debate anyone. Besides, all that senile old idiot would be able to use as arguments would be hearsay from same about their knowledge of Romney's tax returns anyway!!!!

Kingofthenet| 8.11.12 @ 4:44PM

Why do we all have to get the SAME from Govt. anyway? Let the Conservatives get this 'Voucher' system and a reduced deduction and pay minimal in Social Security Withholding and get a VERY small SS check. Let people who want better benefits pay a little more in withholding, everyone is happy.

Oldefarte| 8.11.12 @ 9:43PM

Nah what will happen will be that in January all of the nail-filing secretaries that think a Dictionary is a cookbook will be given a one way ticket to their homes and given their last $500000 check from GSA, and the federal government will be required to repay the $trillions they have STOLEN from the SS trustfund!!!!!!!!!

Fiscal| 8.12.12 @ 9:46AM

I happen to like Ryan, but you guys missed the bigger points. First is that Romney's whole schtick is that he is a business exective with management experience -- i.e., he can "run" the country better than Obama. Ryan has no management, business, or executive experience. How does that fit in?

Secondly, neither Romney or Ryan have any foreign policy experience. Obama not only studied foreign policy in school, but he got on committees in the Senate and chose an experienced Biden as VP just as Bush chose Cheney.

The issue will be the total lack of experience of Ryan. Romney chose Ryan because he is the closest thing to Romney's underlings at Bain. Obama's campaign will not only throw the Medicare thing at this team, but talk about Romney's first presidential choice -- he chose someone who was less ready to be President than Palin -- and Palin was a joke.

Now personally I like wonks and hope that Romney doesn't kick the bucket in the first four years. Then Ryan would be an excellent choice for the number one position. But that is the risk of this ticket.

Cpm| 8.12.12 @ 11:54AM

How do you know Obama studied foreign policy in school? Nobody knows what he studied in school except what he says. Ryan has been around for a couple of decades and has much more experience than Obama has. And are you really playing the Biden card? He is considered a joke. You guys were also "worried" that McCain would 'kick the bucket', but he's still going strong. There is nothing of value at all in your post except that you highlight why Obama should never have been elected in the first place.

bluecollarbytes| 8.12.12 @ 12:45PM

Biden and Cheney happen to have been VPs, politicians, males, and U.S. citizens. Are there any other similarities that matter?

It's not eve apples and oranges with Biden and Cheney but Twinkies and Filet Mignon.

bluecollarbytes| 8.12.12 @ 12:38PM

It's refreshing to listen to a Ryan, this Ryan, whose intelligence, grasp of the issues and policies, and communication skills shine. Would Romney involve him as Bush involved VP Cheney in real policy making? I think so. What a great idea- select a VP to more than bench-warming.

Ryan's generation is going to face more of obamagenda's ruinous results so it's fitting that the youth he brings will be in the fight.
