Here’s a non-Paul Ryan item. Pitcher Derek Lowe has signed with the New York Yankees. Lowe had been designated for assignment by the Cleveland Indians earlier this month. A couple of days ago, I suggested the Red Sox could use both him and Johnny Damon who was also released by the Tribe. Well, so much for that. Lowe, of course, pitched with the Red Sox earning a World Series ring in 2004.

Lowe is expected to pitch out of the bullpen. But with C.C. Sabathia back on the DL, I would be shocked if Lowe isn’t given a chance to start.

The Red Sox still have a chance to sign the other idiot.
