Chick-fil-A Report

As is happening all over the country, the Chick-fil-A across the street from my office is doing immense business today. At 11:07 a.m., central time, long before the usual noontime rush, the in-person line already was out the door and snaking around the corner of the building, and there was a large traffic jam on a divided main street caused by so many cars waiting in line for the drive through. It has gotten steadily MORE crowded since then.

I didn’t have time to wait, so I ate elsewhere. But here’s my suggestion: Let’s keep doing the equivalent of sending dead fish to Rahm Emanuel by continuing to Eat More Chikin long after this day is done. I usually eat there something like twice every three weeks. Since I couldn’t make it today, I’ll make sure to go at least twice next week and twice the week after and twice the week after that — in other words, three times more often than usual. I urge everybody else to do the same.

Plenty more can be said about how obscene it was to threaten Chik-fil-A — and how absurd it is to say that opposition to homosexual marriage is even remotely akin to bigotry. For now, though, it behooves conservatives to keep on fighting back against leftist bullying — not just by eating at a chicken fast-food place, but also by channeling our energy into the cause of traditional values more broadly, very much including any political causes or candidates that fill the bill.

This has nothing to do with imposing any moral beliefs on others via government. This has everything to do with protecting the free expression and exercise of moral beliefs from the interference, whether prescriptive or proscriptive, of big government.

Frankly, I don’t care what consenting adults do behind closed doors. I do care if some self-appointed tough guy like Dead Fish Emanuel thinks he can use government to punish those who dare say positive things about traditional cultural institutions that have been honored for millennia.

As for Emanuel, that incompetent hack, maybe he should practice, in the political sense, some of the euthanasia his brother is so fond of, and put his own administration out of its misery by leaving public life altogether in atonement for allowing the murder rate in his city to skyrocket while he spends more time protecting the supposed feelings of homosexual Americans (most of whom probably care nothing about the owner of a chicken chain) than he does protecting the lives of citizens.

Yes, but what does Jennifer Rubin think of Chick-Fil-A?

That's what really counts.

Oldefarte| 8.1.12 @ 4:40PM

Or possibly Ron Paul, huh?????

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 2:51PM

God Forbid a Mayor defend the dignity of some of his Constituents.

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 2:53PM

Defend those who run Chick-Fil-A franchises and employ and feed Chicagoans, you mean?

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 3:02PM

You don't defend people from themselves, theirs was a 'self inflicted' wound, absolutely unnecessary.

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 3:09PM

The only self-inflicted wound here was on the part of liberal politicians who felt The Constitution no longer applies whenever they wish to bully someone to keep cash flowing from an aggrieved consituency. Instead, Chick-Fil-A's raking in the cash and Obama's running out of it.

Bob S| 8.2.12 @ 12:08AM

"You don't defend people from themselves."

Well, at least we know you're right of Bloomberg.

DRed| 8.1.12 @ 3:08PM

The problem, King, is that the alderman in Chicago where Chik-fil-a was planning to add another branch said he would block it's construction because of the owner's political and religious beliefs. That's flatly unconstitutional. If Chick-Fil-A is incompatible with Chicago's values . . .then people won't eat there and they'll change their views or go out of business.

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 3:11PM

Except that an awful lot of people in Chick-Fil-A's parking lots today were black Christians and Muslims and blue collar whites. Whoops---I guess former ballerinas like Rahm Emmanuel are out of touch with community values, huh?

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 3:27PM

If I was a Chick-fil-A franchisee, the first thing I would do is call up corporate office and politely ask them if they 'lost their minds'? What's next? Maybe they can print the tray liners and packaging with the photos of Aborted Fetuses to show the 'horrors' of legal abortion. You don't see Ronald McDonald or the Burger 'King' spouting off stupid shit.

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 3:31PM

Be sure to use a quarter pounder to grease your shackles then.

Bob Grant| 8.1.12 @ 4:33PM

"You don't see Ronald McDonald or the Burger 'King' spouting off stupid shit."

"stupid shit" is all in the eye of the beholder and should be played out on the field of free market economics. The consumer will decide how stupid the "stupid shit" is.

By the way, McDonalds is not above having agenda-driven policies. Their multitude of ethnocentric programs and "healthy eating" initiatives, as pushed by the first lady and the HHS, could be considered stupid shit (aka crony capitalism) to many.

DRed| 8.1.12 @ 4:35PM

Exactly. Spouting off stupid shit is as american as apple pie.

Bob Grant| 8.1.12 @ 4:40PM

Personally,

I'd like a McDonalds policy that ensures I can safely order food late at night without being another You Tube flash mob victim.

But that's just me being a demanding customer :-)

F**k McDonalds. Instead, I'll just Eat Mor Chikin!!!

Oldefarte| 8.1.12 @ 4:34PM

No, Ronald and his ilk are probably too busy giving HUM JOBS [PC 101] TO BARRY AND DEMOCRATS!!!!!!!!!!

Oldefarte| 8.1.12 @ 4:38PM

It only a shame that some of these Chicago type mayors can't be politically aborted!!!!!!!

no, Queenofthenuts, i believe you have cornered the market on THAT activity

God will deal with those "Constituents" at the time of their deaths, and I'd advise you to not stand too close to them when HE does so!!!!!!!!!!

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 7:29PM

Ethics squib:

"This has nothing to do with imposing any moral beliefs on others via government. . . . Frankly, I don't care what consenting adults do behind closed doors."

Unfortunately, these two comments are in contradiction. The use of the term "consenting adults" shows that there are some moral values government should impose; e.g., one does not normally use the phrase "consenting adults and children."

In addition the idea that thou shalt not impose moral values is itself a moral value, so contradicts itself.

If conservatives don't get these ethical principles straight, it's just going to be a losing battle with the relativists.

Anyway, I hope to eat at Chic-fil-A tonight!

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 3:22PM

Laws are morality with teeth. What other valid basis for laws is there?

AllAmericanAmerican| 8.2.12 @ 8:54AM

How are they in contradiction? In a civilized society there are some things adults can agree to do with and to each other that would be illegal if an adult did it with and/or to a child.

For instance, in my house my wife and I can smoke cigarettes and drink some beer if we choose to do so. However if I allowed my 12 and 2 year olds to smoke and drink I would run afoul of the law.

Are you saying it should be legal for 12 and 2 year olds to smoke and drink?

Butch| 8.1.12 @ 3:27PM

Guess who reported the business at Chick-Fil-A today? ABC Radio News. I was listening to Rush and when it was over, there it was, not headlined, but at least reported.

I have always considered ABC Radio to be the most liberal of news organizations pretending to objectivity (MSNBC, for example, doesn't even pretend), so I was really surprised to hear it anything other than totally ignored from them.

JD| 8.1.12 @ 4:18PM

They are reporting it so they can say "Look at all the homophobes that are still out there! Clearly we need to vote Democrat!"

Derek Leaberry| 8.1.12 @ 3:49PM

Although the support for Chick-fil-a today is heartening, what the country has lost will be demonstrated at Friday's planned Sodomite kiss--in at Chick-fil-a. Not too long ago, these moral misfits either 1) wouldn't have made a public spectacle of themselves displaying their dishonorable lifestyle; 2) would have been arrested immediately by the local police; 3) would have been thrown out of the restaurant by the manager and staff for being a nuisance and a moral disgrace; or 4) would have been beaten like a drum by the male customers of the restaurant. But this Friday decent folks will have to impotently tolerate the obscenity. And many will choose not to eat at Chick-fil-a on Friday.

Derek Leaberry| 8.1.12 @ 5:27PM

Actually three other choices are listed. In a moral age, the more likely choice would have been number one. In fact, choice one- homosexuals not kissing in public- was followed 99.999999999999999999......% of the time or more. For iunstance, Gertrude Stein and Alice Toklas never to my knowledge felt the need to go mouth to mouth at Paris bistros. They kept their perversion private and nobody to my knowledge ever picked on them.

DRed| 8.1.12 @ 5:39PM

I'm sure the threat of violence or arrest had something to do with that, don't you Derek? And I'm confused-do you think it was wrong when those uppity homos got beaten like a drum?

JD| 8.1.12 @ 7:44PM

While we come here to make points, "DRed" seems to be here only to bait people into saying things that they're not actually saying. Liberals do this constantly, to justify their hate. Hate is the fuel that drives them. Without reason to hate, they become depressed. They're always fishing for new reasons to hate!

Pelleas| 8.1.12 @ 11:27PM

Were you actually in France, visiting Gertrude and Alice..?---How nice for you..!LOL LOL

BTW-- most people in pre WWII Europe...or America..Gay or Straight.. DID NOT make a show of public affection..so your point is meaningless

Goldwater Girl| 8.1.12 @ 4:04PM

Isn't that wonderful of the gay community? Maybe there will be adequate space by the children's play area for them to stage their PDA. The party of tolerance demands tolerance, now damnit!

JD| 8.1.12 @ 4:15PM

Chik Fil A has not engaged in any discriminatory behavior at all. A person stated his views when asked. That is all. Nothing has changed with regard to the business.

But liberals say "Chik Fil A's profits go to fund anti-gay lobbies!" Absurd. I'm sure every big company has an employee somewhere who donates to a cause liberals don't like. Should they boycott those companies too, to keep money from flowing to their enemies? Let's take the indirection further. If I hire a plumber who hires a cleaner who hires a landscaper who donates to an anti-abortion lobby, am I donating to the lobby?

No. This again reflects liberal inability to understand basic finance. If I buy a product or service from someone, my money becomes their money at the moment of the transaction. There is no ambiguity, and I am no longer responsible for it. I have not "helped" them any more than they've helped me - we made a mutually agreeable trade.

JD| 8.1.12 @ 4:15PM

The bottom line is this: Many liberals are demonstrating that they are vile, hateful, despicable, intolerant people. They can't stand the idea of being in the presence of someone who disagrees with them, and they will go to great lengths to harm such people. To justify themselves in their own minds, they will pretend that they are the heroes and their enemies are the villains, but they do this only by inventing a false reality. All hate is justified in such a way. The key is this - both sides are arguing over what one side actually believes, and when such an argument breaks out, you can be sure that the people themselves (in this case, conservatives) are right.

Oldefarte| 8.1.12 @ 4:32PM

Quin, Ditto here! I drove by our suburban CFA twice and the crowd was out the door and the waiting line time was approxiamtely 45 miniutes. Being of the senior citizen variety, I sadly also had to pass on making my presense felt, but am grateful to the patriotic, conservative Christian/Jewish-Americans who are making their statement-purchases. Thanks to you, Mike Huck, Rush and others; this important news story is being properly told and CFA's revenue success today will in no small part be due to all of you for informing the public [I wanted to buy gift certificates instead online but CFA's website said that also required a in-store visitation, so I'll stock up after the rush dies down on same]. It's simply a great day to celebrate the national turnout over this issue and hopefully 11/6/12 will be even larger!!!!!!!!!

spike59| 8.2.12 @ 5:50AM

i am indeed fortunate; my nearest CFA is situated in a location where foot traffic is minimal; the line at the drive-thru was seemingly endless, but i was able to walk right in. the place was very crowded, but i was able to place my order and get my food in just a couple minutes, and one of their employees found me a seat so that i could enjoy my meal, and came back to fetch me a refill of my tea-it was an enjoyable time, with people of all ages, genders, and races smiling at each other while enjoying a pleasant meal. they could have filmed a commercial

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 5:35PM

Bottom Line is you can speak about your Christian Faith in POSITIVE terms EVERYONE, gays, straight, even Atheists like myself would approve of. Tell people your Christian Faith demands you use hi quality ingredients, or to be polite to ALL your guests or to use some of the profits to help end kids suffering or hunger. Talk about how you sponsor camps for disadvantaged youth. Talk like that and I would order a few of the belly busters myself on Principal(and give those things away to homeless people)
But NO this Bigot decides to go on an anti-gay rant and give money to anti-gay groups, not a dime from me EVER.

Juli| 8.1.12 @ 5:53PM

Rant? What did Mr. Cathy say, exactly? And why did he say it? In other words, what were the circumstances that led to his statements?

He's a bigot by definition of the term, yes. And so are you, by definition of the term.

big·ot [big-uht]
noun: a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.

Quin Hillyer| 8.1.12 @ 6:42PM

He said not a single word about homosexuals. He said he supported a lot of efforts to honor and promote traditional marriages -- which he does, by the way. All sorts of good work supporting families, promoting the idea of keeping families together, etcetera. He wasn't even asked about homosexuals, and never mentioned them.

Bob Grant| 8.1.12 @ 6:56PM

If you call what he said an "anti-gay rant" you are either pulling our collective chains to incite some desired reaction or - even more frightening - believe what he said to be over the line.

Come on man, you don't actually believe what you've posted? ...stop screwing with us.

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 7:04PM

"I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,'" Cathy said. "I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about."
He went on to add:
"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that … We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that," Cathy said.

Tell me HOW a gay person or Family should read that? Come on spin it!

DRed| 8.1.12 @ 7:16PM

What, exactly, is the 'biblical definition of the family unit'? Polygamous marriage? Levirate marriage? A woman and the man who raped her?

JD| 8.1.12 @ 7:28PM

Instead of inventing straw men, try reading Genesis and other relevant sections of the Bible.

Stop pushing your hatred.

DRed| 8.1.12 @ 8:01PM

Genesis has rape, incest, numerous instances of polygamy, god killing a man for refusing to ejaculate in his dead brother's wife, testicular oath swearing, concubines, rape, adultery, and pregnant hooker burning. Is that really where I should be taking my biblical definition of the family unit?

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 9:54PM

Taking it from gay porn isn't doing you any favors.

spike59| 8.2.12 @ 6:03AM

by your 'reasoning', Alex Haley must have been pro-slavery, pro-mutilation, etc; after all, 'Roots' cotains descriptions of these inhumanities and more...whenever atheists bloviate on the Bible, it's like a bicyclist deciding he can win the Indy 500 because he once watched his daddy change the oil on the family car

spike59| 8.2.12 @ 6:04AM

the above was directed at DRed

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 7:52AM

Ah, a Scriptural expert. Surely you can quote us chapter and verse, then, with the names of homosexual married couples in the Bible. Bonus points for explaining what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah.

DRed| 8.2.12 @ 10:09AM

Well, these two angels went to a nice town called Sodom and met a guy named Lot who invited them in for a sleepover. But then the men of the town wanted to rape them (perhaps the town was not so nice after all). Lot was a good guy, though, so he offered the mob his daughters to rape instead. They weren't into that, sadly, but fortunately the angels were able to chase them off. Then God destroyed the town and Gomorrah too (I have no idea what Gomorrah did wrong). Lot and his family ran away, although his wife was turned into a pillar of salt on the way. Afterwards, Lot's daughters got him wasted and took turns having sex with him. The lessons I take from that is that bad things happen if you invite angels into your house. And don't rape strangers.

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 10:46AM

You're not much of a Scriptural expert after all:

Genesis 13:
12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 10:49AM

Genesis 14:

16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the Lord, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 10:52AM

Genesis 18 (note this is right after God makes his covenant with Abraham):

20 And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;

21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord.

23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?

25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

26 And the Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.
..

32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 10:55AM

19 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground

2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter

5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,

7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.

8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 10:56AM

10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

12 And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

13 For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it.

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 10:57AM

14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.

18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:

19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 10:57AM

21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

22 Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do anything till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

23 The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

24 Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;

25 And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.

27 And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:

28 And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

29 And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 10:58AM

30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:

32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 10:59AM

So contra DRed, the crimes of Sodom and Gomorrah were so foul that God suffered them not to survive, finding not even one righteous man among them. DRed, an admirer of those particular sins, tries to fob them off as "don't rape strangers". There's no Scriptural basis for that and anyone who'd like to know how ancient Christians interpreted Genesis in that regard need only peruse the 38 volumes of the Early Church Fathers---or note that etymology of sodomy. Lot's daughters are not given sanction by God for their crimes, as DRed blasphemously implies.

And let's not forget DRed is completely unable to provide the Scriptural reference I requested regarding the homosexual married couples in the Bible. There are of course none.

The lesson here is actually "Don't trust left wingers for interpretation of Scripture they would be completely unfamiliar with but for Google."

Oldefarte| 8.2.12 @ 3:15PM

No, try instead Barney's boyfriend operating a male homosexual brothel out of his Boston apartment for your PERVERTED FAMILY VALUES! If that doesn't enlightening you, attend SF's etc GAY PRIDE CELEBRATION PARADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gay family? You are funny.

"Bottom Line is you can speak about your Christian Faith in POSITIVE terms EVERYONE, gays, straight, even Atheists like myself would approve of."

What an arrogant fool this "Kingofthenet" person is! He just endorsed a ban on beliefs that aren't "approved" by gays! Talk about your Thought Police!

He exemplifies the Left's idea of "religious freedom": Call yourself whatever you want, but only actually believe and practice American Political Correctness.

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 7:53PM

Yo can be positive, and GAIN or negative and lose, how did the negative work out for Denny's?

JD| 8.1.12 @ 8:54PM

You don't want "positive" or "negative". You want "kiss your gay backside".

Your beliefs are a decidedly negative attack on a lot of people, and you don't seem to care.

spike59| 8.2.12 @ 6:11AM

Here's what the apostle Paul said about 'approval'

"Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ"
Galatians 1:10

and here's what Christ said:

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. "

-Matthew 5:11-12

Mr Cathy has received a tremendous blessing because of you

Possibly it was once stated: BLESSED BE THE HOMOSEXUALS, FOR THEY SHALL INHERET THE ......DAMNATION OF HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 9:22PM

Who gave the atheists a capital A? I thought they were opposed to such things, being randomly aggregated dust from long dead stars and all.

Bob S| 8.2.12 @ 12:04AM

The only people going on a rant are the mayors of Chicago and Boston who are on record saying they will deny Chik-fil-a a license in their cities because of what they believe.

And isn't it convenient that this is blowing up in an election year where Obama, desperate to deflect any attention from his disastrous handling of the economy, chose to make gay marriage a campaign issue?

Albert Constantine Jr.| 8.1.12 @ 5:37PM

I waited out the packed house at the Bear, DE franchise for my spicy chicken sandwich, waffle fries and sweet tea. Chick Semper Tyrannus.

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 6:17PM

Andrew, a gay 24-year-old who has been working at the northern Alabama Chick-fil-A since January, sat in his car smoking a cigarette and watching the crowd during a break earlier Wednesday.

"I call it hater appreciation day," said Andrew, who asked that his last name be withheld out of fear he'd be fired. "It's very, very depressing."

Bob Grant| 8.1.12 @ 7:02PM

...and none of this would have occurred had certain elements kept their mouths shut...and certain mayors had basic knowledge of our Constitution.

Remember, this is just as much a demonstration for FREEDOM than what anything from corporate said.

I think you and your ilk are haters and rabble rousers.

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 7:06PM

If I were one of you Bigots going down there today, a few words of caution, Hold the 'Mayo' or 'special sauce' ...if you catch my drift

JD| 8.1.12 @ 7:29PM

It is quite clear who on this site is hateful.

Butch| 8.1.12 @ 7:34PM

I catch your drift . . . and you are one sick puppy.

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 8:34PM

The Clan has a Constitutional Right to say what they want too, but i am NOT going to buy one of their shirts in support.

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 9:55PM

You already do---the Klan was a Democrat club.

Bob Grant| 8.1.12 @ 10:04PM

Oh yea!!!

Bob Grant| 8.1.12 @ 10:05PM

That was to Teflon's response. The "Reply To This" is not working.

Bob Grant| 8.1.12 @ 10:04PM

Oh yea!!

Juli| 8.1.12 @ 9:42PM

Hey "King". Take a look in the mirror.

big·ot [big-uht]
noun: a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.

Oldefarte| 8.2.12 @ 3:25PM

Hopefully the homosexuals will "Hold the 'Mayo' or the 'special sauce' so that same won't spill and thereafter.......GREASE THEIR PATHWAY TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!

JD| 8.1.12 @ 7:46PM

Andrew's situation is indeed depressing. He is heartbroken over the mere existence of people who disapprove of his lifestyle, and the only alternative that will satisfy him is to force everyone to not merely act as if they agree with him, but to say it, and even to believe it.

A world cannot function if everyone is as self-centered as Andrew is. Depressing, indeed!

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 9:25PM

I take it Andrew will be refusing his wages for the day on principle, right?

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 9:24PM

Poor Andrew. Let's give up our 1st amendment rights to free speech, assembly, and religion---will that make him feel better?

Bob S| 8.2.12 @ 12:02AM

He doesn't need to fear that he will be fired. Chik-fil-a is not discriminatory. He would only need to fear for his job if he worked at a Chik-fil-a in the northeast, and a progressive mayor decided to deny Chik-fil-a a business license, forced them to skip town, and left poor Andrew without a job.

AllAmericanAmerican| 8.2.12 @ 9:03AM

Was gay Andrew crying?

Well, gay Andrew can always quit his job at Chik Fil A and go work for a fast food joint that's being run by gays. It's America---you (for the time being) still enjoy a semblance of freedom of association.

So gay Andrew, my challenge to you is this: STOP working for the anti-gay, intolerant, Bible-thumping, homophobic (and prolly racist too) Chik Fil A. Take a stand and QUIT RIGHT NOW!!!!! That'll show 'em!!!!!

Oldefarte| 8.3.12 @ 10:18AM

Maybe he needs instead to attend a local GAY PRIDE PARADE and then determine what to "call" THAT?????????????

Kingofthenet| 8.1.12 @ 7:49PM

Jesus may have died for your Chikin, but most certainly NOT for your order of large Waffle Fries, so take it easy Fatties. INRI=Eat Mor Chikin?

Teflon93 | 8.1.12 @ 9:27PM

Jesus died that we may live---and in a manner more horrible and unjust than having to endure the mere existence of people who disagree with you. Now perhaps you can tell us on what authority your ex cathedra pronouncements rest, seeing none evident.

Pelleas| 8.1.12 @ 11:15PM

Meanwhile... the same types of wacked out right-wing loons who see nothing "wrong" with the CEO of a national chain of restaurants making bigoted pronouncements against his fellow Americans,( and deplore protests/calls for boycotts/ etc against this chain) see NOTHING hypocritical in their calling for a boycott of J.C Penny because of that retailer using same -sex couples in their
advertising.

Pretty much of a double-standard to say the least...

Bob S| 8.2.12 @ 12:00AM

I'm sure you would have supported Hitler denying business licenses to anyone that would have disagreed with his politics when he rose to power.

spike59| 8.2.12 @ 6:24AM

"Meanwhile... the same types of wacked out leftt-wing loons who see nothing "wrong" with elected officials threatening the CEO (and other employees)of a national chain of restaurants with government-sanctioned discrimination for exercising his Constitutional free speech rights and agreeing with the Bible on the definition of marriage and deplore protests/calls for boycotts/ etc of J.C Penny because of that retailer using same -sex couples in their
advertising."

----------------------------

FIFY

-you're welcome

Pelleas| 8.2.12 @ 10:49AM

What a fucking schmuck you are, spike59!

Teflon93 | 8.2.12 @ 7:53AM

Never heard of it. Who the hell shops at JC Penney?

Bob S| 8.1.12 @ 11:58PM

A few teens throw temper tantrums near Wall Street, and it's world wide news. Chik-fil-a's around the country fill up with supporters unwilling to let government intimidate them based on belief, and nary a peep from the media.

Kingofthenet| 8.2.12 @ 12:46AM

A good clean upstanding Christian Cow:

God Bless The USA
by Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I'd worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I'd thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I'm proud to be and American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.
