Tea Party Cruz-es to Victory

Ted Cruz has defeated David Dewhurst in Texas, securing the GOP nomination for US Senate; he is virtually certain to win in November. This was a significant reversal from the first round of primary voting in May; while Dewhurst failed to meet the 50% threshold needed to avoid today’s runoff, he did beat Cruz by eleven points. Katrina Trinko examines the result:

So why did Cruz win? Well, one significant change: the percentage of tea-party voters he was attracting. A late May PPP poll, taken before the first round of the primary, showed that 38 percent of Tea Partiers backed Cruz, while 39 percent backed Dewhurst. But in PPP’s poll from this past weekend, that dynamic had changed significantly, with Cruz now getting 75 percent of tea partiers and Dewhurst winning only 22 percent.

So much for the headline on an ABC story from Friday: “Tea Party Candidates Losing Steam in 2012” (hat-tip: Sean Higgins).

I think this is the most important Senate race in 2012. Ted Cruz is solid conservative with strong credentials and in depth knowledge of the Constitution. I look forward to him serving on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Time to celebrate, but tomorrow we need to continue to work for as many victories as we can get this November. It isn't enough to win; we must elect enough limited government conservatives to turn the direction of the government back to being lawful, effective, honest and limited.

Good job in Texas! Rove, Cheney and the head Bushies must be shattered. On to Ohio. . . let the Tea Party give Capt. Crybaby something to bawl about!

When I look down the block and see that bastion of higher learning, Princeton University, I think of Van Jones, Cornel West, and of course Paul Krugman. All the previous mentioned hold views that are totally against my core beliefs.

When I read that Cruz was a Princeton graduate, I smiled and thought, there is a sliver of hope yet in this world.

Jimmy Stewart was a Princeton grad too. Every now and then.

Texas hasn't had a conservative senator since Phill Gramm.

The question now is how QUICKLY Mr. Dewhurst, Perry, Chaney, Huckabee, etc. back Mr. Cruz? And what about the person who currently holds the senate seat, Mrs. Hutchison?

Will David Dewhurst pull a Charlie Crist?

What's more important to him and others: country or something else?

Ted Cruz is on the verge of becoming a rock star within the republican party who wants to change the course on which our country is headed and he represents a mandate for that change.

What say you Mr. Dewhurst? ...Perry?...Mrs. Hutchison?

The clock is ticking.

Any day when the Bush family, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, Mitch McConnell and the rest of the Republican Establishment is sad is a day when conservatives should feel glad.

Meanwhile.....in other news:
Boehner & Co. sell the American people down the river, yet again.

Remember, back in the spring of '11, when the first budget battle was winding up? And, Boehner/Cantor/McCarthy/Ryan were lying to conservatives about cutting $100 billion in the budget deal?
Remember when Boehner & Co. were telling us to wait until Sept., '11, when they could really cut the budget?
Remember when Boehner & Co. promised that if the GOP took back control of the House, they would publish ALL BILLS 3 days before a vote?
Remember, a year ago, when Boehner & Co. sold-out to O'Bama on the debt-ceiling increase, and didn't give us 3 days to read the bill?
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boehner has got to go!

p.s. Congratulations to Mr. Cruz. And, the Texas T.E.A. Party.
Entrenched incumbency, from both parties, is the disease that kills freedom.
The T.E.A. Party is the cure.

Jimmy Stewart was perhaps the best actor that Hollywood ever produced. He was certainly the greatest man.

Yes, one can argue Ronaldus Magnus. But Stewart put his skin on the line for our country, and rose to General.
