In response to (unsurprising) data showing a massive disparity in political contributions among academics — far more to Democrats than to Republicans — one professor says the reason is that Republicans are stupid, or at least that a smart person would never believe what Republicans believe:

Is Prof Westen saying math profs are smarter than sociology profs? Hysterical.

Education is fine....but there is the old saw, :Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. I would be very interesed to know, just what percentage of the "professors" who teach Business in our schools, have ever run a successful one.

I wonder how many liberal profs ever made a payroll?

SBGMetsJets| 7.31.12 @ 11:01AM

Aside from inflated self-regard, here are some more things our liberal superiors believe.

How smart are you if you keep donating money to a political party and political candidates who raise your taxes and restrict your freedom?

The Soviets had a term for this kind of person: useful idiot.

As long as it's just "the rich" having their taxes raised and Big Business and "right-wing extremists" losing their freedom, liberals don't worry because they think Big Government will leave them alone.

Too smart for their own good... and ours.

It is surprising that this topic hasn't attracted the usual gang of trolls.

In my experience, most liberals are naive and alienated, so they are attracted to a false reality in which they would either be in power or more highly rewarded for their efforts. They pray to the false god of government compulsion and there is little reason to say much to those who have been absorbed into the collectivist body, as they almost never address the issue, but instead deflect to another point. I have heard them discuss political and historical events based solely on what they saw in a Hollywood movie. There are three types in the opposition: 1) the exploiters who use the liberal dogma for personal power; 2) the takers who are being bribed for their support; and 3) the gullible.

John Hawkins has an excellent summary on this subject today entitled "10 Concepts Liberals Talk About Incessantly But Don't Understand ".

This professor is a perfect example of the problem with liberals as outlined in Professor Haidt's interview with the Christian Post. He could benefit from reading Haidt's work.

On the other hand, only an academic or pseudo intellectual would be so naive as to buy anything the Democrats are selling.

In the spring of 1980, I had lunch with one of the professors in my department who, for reasons unknown to me, saw fit to lecture me on the right-extremist Ronald Reagan and the danger he was to the world. She was a fifty something immigrant from Vienna, and certainly much preferred the "civilization" of the old country, although she did keep a stable of horse for riding that she probably couldn't have managed back home. And she lectured me on the danger of Reagan. I nodded, being somewhat apolitical at the time, and that November voted for RR. Thank God.

If the taxpayers ever wise up and begin to purge school/university systems of these leftist radicals that are brainwashing/propagandizing childrens' minds with their liberal crapola, these eggheads will begin quickly to "believe what Republicans believe"!!!!!!!!!!

Trinacria| 7.31.12 @ 3:29PM

"That suggests that people who think logically and have been selected for intellect are more convinced by Democrats than Republicans”

No, professor; it suggests that those who have neither the skill nor the intellect to compete in the open market will tend to favor those candidates who will preserve their ability to suck from the public teet. They are, therefore, motivated by self-preservation, a trait that is common in even the most basic of life forms (and one which requires virtually no intellectual capacity...).

Bob S| 7.31.12 @ 7:37PM

Those Democrats are so smug. Let's see this professor try to get into a battle of wits with Thomas Sewell. On second though, why waste our time? This professor would be woefully unprepared to match wits with Sewell.

Isn't it amazing that these so called uber intelligent educated genius's spew nothing but ignorant nonsense !?
