The Miami Heat won the NBA Title with a 121-106 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 of the NBA Final. LeBron James was named the series’ MVP.

Despite James’ stature as the premier player in the game, the three time NBA MVP has long been criticized for not having the championships won by the likes of Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. James was unable to win an NBA title during his tenure in Cleveland reaching the NBA Finals in 2007 only to be swept by the San Antonio Spurs. Of course, LeBron fell short during his inaugural season in South Beach last year when the Heat were upset by the Dallas Mavericks. Of course, Dwyane Wade is no stranger to championship glory. Wade was the part of the Heat’s first NBA championship team in 2006.

As King LeBron can now sit on his throne in contentment, basketball analysts will have to talk about something other than LeBron not having a championship under his belt.

I was wanting OKC, but I am happy that this will shut up some of the sports writers and reporters. I don't know who listens to these guys as most of them seem not to have played a sport in their life.

As an Austinite, naturally, I was rooting for former Longhorn Kevin Durant. Even so, I had nothing against the Heat, and am happy for LeBron James.

Now, if you're from Cleveland, I understand perfectly why you hate LeBron and always will. You don't have to explain or apologize for that hatred. But if you're NOT from Cleveland... why on earth would you hate LeBron?

I don't say ANY athlete is entitled to your love, but I will say this: the NBA (like the NFL and Major League Baseball) has dozens of genuine thugs, rapists, wife beaters, drug addicts, head cases, convicted felons and lechers who've sired a dozen kids by a dozen different women. Whatever his flaws, LeBron James isn't one of them.

No, you don't have to like LeBron, but there are dozens of athletes who should higher on your hate list than LeBron James.

Meh, LeBron is STILL horrible, why doesn't he have TWO championships or THREE or FOUR already? WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

and if you're from Cleveland the one you should hate is Dan "Cleveland will have a championship before LeBron" whatisname idoit owner of the Cavs. That's the fool that screwed things up for the Cavs, not LeBron. All LeBron did was escape the clutches of an incompetent exploitative owner and go to where he is appreciated.

Excellent job Bron and the rest of the Heat including my hero Mike "The Gimp" Miller.

and I too am from Austin and am a Horn, congrats Dex, enjoy that ring, and to KD, remember how AWFUL this feels and use it to build towards your many rings to come.

It seems to me that the single biggest reason for anti-LeBron sentiment was that his aanouncement of his departure for Miami was overhyped.

That's true... but whose fault was that?

ESPN turned LeBron's decision into a nationally televised extravaganza. And immediately afterward, all of ESPN's commentators began ripping LeBron for turning his free agency into a spectacle.

Got that? The very people who turned LeBron's decision into a farce then spent the next two years attacking him him for being part of that farce!
