Yesterday Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney released a plan that is designed to make distinction between legal and illegal immigration — and also to defuse a damned if you do, damned if you don’t political issue. The key points:
- Romney wants to “grow our economy by growing legal immigration,” according to a campaign fact sheet
- He would raise caps on high-skilled immigrant visas
- He would also streamline the temporary worker visa process
- Expedite family reuinfication
- Create a path to citizenship for young illegal immigrants who serve honorably in the military
- Balance this with a fairly strong illegal immigration policy including e-verify, better safeguards for people overstaying visas, and completing the border fence
Many of the details still need to be fleshed out, but this is the broad outline. I’m skeptical of both the politics and the policy of this combination, but it is clear he is trying to achieve the difficult balance of being anti-illegal immigration without appearing anti-Hispanic.

With these, while I might support higher levels of skilled immigration, it must be done with the elimination or at least drastic reduction of H1B visas. H1B workers are essentially indentured servants brought in to replace American workers. Also unclear is which side of the border is the family to be reunited on.

"Expedite family reunification"? Are you serious? That's the BIGGEST problem with legal immigration - that's how one immigrant morphs into dozens, as they sponsor their extended family.
Highly skilled immigrants? Why do you need to import Chinese and Indians to do computer/IT work when so many Americans are out of work?
So the latinos will take the low end jobs and Indians & Chinese will take the white collar jobs. What occupations are left for native born Americans?

What kind of "conservative" is for the further cultural and ethnic dissolution of his country, because that is what immigration, illegal and legal, is.
Has Romney ever looked into how hard it is to immigrate to Japan? Virtually impossible. Because, go figure, the Japanese want Japan to remain Japanese. We do not need more legal immigration. The point of promoting that is to please the cheap labor lobby and inoculate himself against charges of wrongthink. Romney is pathetic.

Reality is this: working and middle class conditioned to believe they can live like the rich with debt instead of wealth. Then their jobs are vaporized and the banks get their homes. The banks get backstopped by the State so they go on a gambling spree at no risk to themselves.
The spree turns out bad, really bad. But the State steps in to "buy" the repos "at a discount", thereby refilling the banker vaults(and bonuses) with instant fiat money.
Now the State(yes, your "government") will make these properties available to a select group(ain't it always?), again "at a discount"(make that pennies on the dollar). The "investors" can then sell them at a big profit as they are beamed out of "government" limbo back into what's left of the private market.
This is how the middle class is being plundered and made destitute. What little actual wealth they had is now in the hands of the very wealthiest, after first being magnified by "Of the People, by the people, for the people"Inc.
How could you have any expectations Romney or Obama would end this kind of legal plunder?

The problem neo cons have with me is I'm no fascist either. They flatter themselves thinking nobody could possibly be to the right of them. There is a whole other world to the right of them where the real thinkers dwell. But they don't like to think for themselves, it makes their head hurt.
Anybody supporting either of these hired hands of the New World Order is hastening the end of America. Romney will just be more subtle than Barry.

Do you morons realize that if the ORIGINAL TARP had not been instituted, every bank in this country would have failed [and the government would not have have had the financial means to rescue same]? do you realize that eveyone's checking, saving, CD's etc accounts would have been worthless? Do you realize that the 'banksters' have now totally and completely REPAID every cent that they borrowed WITH INTEREST to the taxpayers of this country? Do you fools understand that the Detroit car manufacturers' still owe $billions to the Treasury and will never repay same, and that their bailout was a political payoff to the labor unions of Detroit? Do you understand that GM and Chrysler would have been better off being taken over/bought by Toyota, Nisson etc and that their workers would still be employed by same without the financial loss to us taxpayers? "Paid back every cent" Is there any lie told by the State you won't swallow? Why don't you put that pea brain to work and see how they "paid" it back. By taking money from the Fed at 0% interest and then "loaning" it to the Treasury at 4%. Sweet, if you have the "government" in your pocket, huh?
Every bank certainly would not have failed, jerk, just the ones that did stupid things. My savings is in silver stacks, as is anybody with a brain and eyes to see. Keep trusting the banks and the "government" and see what that gets you. If you are not protecting yourself. you will get what you richly deserve.
You are the one chasing your tail up your ass. Why is it OK to bail out the banks and not the auto makers? You probably think we have a "capitalist" system, too.
