Author Alice Walker has demanded that an Israeli publisher not proceed with a printing of her book The Color Purple in Hebrew.
Walker, who won the Pulitzer Prize for The Color Purple, is a supporter of the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement against Israel. She has described Israel as an “apartheid state” and claims its treatment of Palestinians is worse than the segregation she faced growing up in Georgia in the 1940s, 1950s and early 1960s.
For his part, Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz thinks Yediot Books should proceed with the publication over Walker’s objections. I disagree. I think Yediot Books should accede to her request. Because if they do then they will spare Israeli youth the indignity of being exposed to Ms. Walker’s mediocre writing.

I blew off the movie, and didn't read the book. Too busy enjoying THE Novel of the 21st Century (I am NOT the author and have NO financial interest)---Tom Kratman's Caliphate, published in 2008, and available on Amazon from Baen Books. Must reading for sharia opponents.

She is typical of someone who buys their own press and truly regards their mediocrity as substantial. The next logical step is to think that (a) your opinion actually matters and (b) that it would be a tragedy if someone were actually 'deprived' of your crap.

You people yelling antisemite anytime some criticizes Israel is as bad as the loony left yelling racist simply because someone dislikes the Obummer.
Deal with the actual problem. I think, if you do just a small bit of investigating you will find Georgia blacks were making concerted attempts to kill whites like Palestinians are trying with Jews.
Also, the Color Purple was a truly sorry novel and it would be better to spare Israelis kids such abuse. Dershowitz is a loony leftist, and is also a liar and plagiarist, and probably thought it was a good novel.

i would think she'd be delighted to have more readers; her books are largely unreadable crap that resemble the 'but, Daddy, African Americans have significantly higher rates of diabetes...' stuff that Norman Lear used to sprinkle throughout his PSA sit'com' shows in the 70's
