Ouch.
Governor Mike Huckabee has hit another roughpatch in his radio
show.
It seems the idea was to have Bristol Palin on his show to
discuss her new TV show, Life’s a Tripp.
Bristol agreed. Only to learn that The Huck had taken to the air
and said this:
We had earlier in the hour that Bristol Palin would be joining
us about a new reality t.v. show that she’s going to be doing.
And apparently, she just didn’t show up.
So guess what? I don’t guess we’ll be watching tomorrow when her
new show lines up.”
Too bad.
Huckabee then launched into an all-around scolding of Ms. Palin
for not appearing after having agreed to do so.
Ahhh…but Bristol had a very different story. And clearly like
her mother, isn’t shy about taking baloney. Wrote Bristol on her
blog:
Yesterday, I was at [her brother] Track’s house for his last
night in town before he deploys back to Afghanistan. That’s where I
got an e-mail explaining that Mike Huckabee had just told his radio
audience that he was very disappointed in me.
….I would’ve considered it an honor to talk to his viewers about
my show, my experience of single motherhood, and what a wonderful
little boy Tripp is.
But the fact is, his people didn’t schedule my appearance. I’d
said I’d do the show, I sent them my phone number, and they
apparently neglected to schedule a time. Of course, mix-ups do
occur in life. Schedules aren’t communicated, errors are made.
But this isn’t the first mistake on his show. Maybe instead of
lecturing me on being irresponsible, he should get his own team in
line.
Then, maybe, we could talk.
But I probably would just call Rush instead.
Ouch again.
The link to Ms. Palin’s blog is
here — and the link in her blog post to a column of mine on
Huckabee’s first show opening with a staged caller was hers. She
also posts a link to the audio of the Huckabee scolding. Here as
well is a link
to the Lifetime Channel promo and scheduling info for her show and
her recent
appearance on Sean Hannity’s TV show to discuss it all.
As someone who’s been on hundreds of talk radio shows, I find it
somewhat mindboggling that a radio host would scold a guest on-air
for not appearing until verifying with said guest off-air as to the
reason.
We hope there’s an apology coming from Governor Huckabee to
Bristol.

But the preacher of a former co-worker of mine swears that Huckabee is a good Christian and we should all vote for him.

Oh gee, are we to take sides: Huckabee or the Palin family?
You see, things usually work out for the better. Neither (Huckabee or Mrs. Palin) are fit to serve as president. Sarah and Huckabee are more celebrity than leader material. Sarah has the additional unfortunate knack of stirring up never-ending controversy. If not her, then a family member. Always embattled with someone.

Apparently you know nothing of her record as Mayor in which she turned her city and region into the fastest growing area in Alaska.
Or her record as governor in which she took on Big Oil and established a tax system that was fair to both the companies and the people of Alaska.
And put together a transparent and competitive bidding process for a natural gas pipeline.
And forward-funded education. And put $5 billion in state savings. And cut spending during a time of surplus rather than finding yet more ways for government to spend money.
IOW, she accomplished more in 3 years than Huckabee did in 10.
And she didn't delete records when she left office either.
On the contrary, tens of thousands of her governing emails are now available to the public.
If you'd care to do some homework.
Comparing Huckabee to Palin is like comparing rotten apples to strawberry shortcake.
Dai Alanye | 6.20.12 @ 12:58PM
Correct. Huckabee is merely another narcissist entertainer who has played at politics. Let's be happy he never managed to be nominated for Pres, as it'd be mighty difficult to vote for him.

The Palins are desperately trying to outdo the Kardasians in overexposure and sheer awfulness.
Bristol is on her fourth reality show ( the one she filmed with the Massey brothers was cancelled before it aired ) and today her father announced
that he will be a contestant on a competition reality show while her mother visited with and posed for pictures with some Real Housewife.
If you want to be taken seriously, act seriously.
Not like Klondike Kardasians.

Andrew Breitbart: "Pop culture is upstream of politics. Conservatives have to stop letting far left-wingers dominate pop culture."
But you keep speaking to your small group of conservative political junkies. And see how many elections that wins you.

Ronald Reagan did a show with a monkey.
Ronald Reagan hosted the GE theater.
Fred Thompson was on Law and Order. And other shows and films.
Is that you Karl Rove, the Demolition Man? (the opposite of The Architect) The man responsible for the 2006 and 2008 GOP shellackings.

Jake,
"If you want to be taken seriously, act seriously."
While I partially agree with a portion of your post, I would submit to you that any Conservative Republican who fails to take Governor Palin "seriously," does so at his/her own peril.
Regards,
Mike

Dear Huck--
Motes and planks.

There's too much preoccupation with apologizing. Apologies is what the left demands when they don't like what a conservative says. It's an intimidation and censorship tactic, Mr. Lord.
We shouldn't glorify single motherhood anyway, like Bristol Palin is doing with her show. Don't give it an audience. Single parent households are why this country is suffering the cultural decay that is permitting corrupt politicians to get away with anything.
Ryan| 6.20.12 @ 8:36AM
Apologies are what proper Christians do when they are in the wrong.
It's part of what is called repentance.
Finzi Holst| 6.20.12 @ 5:23PM
Dear Ryan-
And only a "part" as you rightly observe. Too many confuse the "part" for the whole, which leads to other problems.
Best,
F Holst

Sigh.
Do ANY commenters know of what they speak before they type?
Palin's show is about the hardships of single motherhood.
But you wouldn't know that because you're too snobbish to ever watch.
Again, Breitbart: Culture is upstream of politics.
The reality is that more people vote who do NOT pay much attention AT ALL to "serious" issues.
Else, how did we get Barack Obama?
Or Mitt Romney, for that matter?
But go ahead and keep being snobbish and patting yourselves on the back with your conservative political junkies.
And see how many elections you win.

Lord: "I find it somewhat mindboggling that a radio host would scold a guest on-air for not appearing until verifying with said guest off-air as to the reason."
Exactly!
After a public scolding, Palin had every right to correct the situation.
Not sure why some people have such an "issue" about that.
hrh| 6.20.12 @ 10:18AM
They have an issue because the name Palin was mentioned in the story.
Pure and simple.
LibertyMom| 6.20.12 @ 10:13AM
Mr. Lord,
Please check out this article entitled "Son's Past Could Come Back To Bite Huckabee" published by The Daily Beast on 12/15/2007 by Michael Isikoff (Link here: http://www.thedailybeast.com/n.....kabee.html)
Wonder if he 'scolded' his son...on air....like he did to Bristol Palin?
Occam's Tool| 6.20.12 @ 12:37PM
I don't listen to Huck anymore. Not particularly interesting.
