At CFIF, Troy Senik makes a further case for Jon Kyl. Among his four big reasons:

2. Foreign Policy Experience – Kyl has become a major figure on foreign policy in recent years, leading Republican opposition to both the New START Treaty and the Law of the Sea Treaty (both of which he has been right on, IMHO). Jindal has no commensurate experience. For Romney, who is also a foreign policy neophyte (and whose foreign policy pronouncements — identifying Russia as the nation’s largest security concern and threatening a trade war with China, for instance — have been dotty at times), having someone of Kyl’s stature would flesh out the ticket in the area where the presidency confers the greatest power — and requires the greatest responsibility.

Worth a read.

Fine by me.

Romney and Kyl = Bildbergers incorporated. 2 tottering old fools who would remind me of old man Bush and old man Dole. If Occam is for them, it is an automatic no vote. Just what we need to get the youth vote and the independents.

Oldefarte| 6.15.12 @ 1:38PM

Yeah "...old man Bush and old man Dole...." both of whom honorably served this nation by their military service, DA. I'd gladly take these old men and others as compared to the snot-nosed, drug-brained YOUTH that you Paulistas are P&M constantly about. Great the YOUTH VOTE, shazam....their the OWS morons that are worthlessly burning down America that these OLD MEN built previously. Go back to Wisconsin and possibly allow the Scott Walkers of same beat some knowledge into your brain cavity!!!!

Yeah. We could really use the 3 Electoral Votes, that he can lock down for us.

Stop reading Doctor A-Hole.

He's affecting your reasoning.

ggoblue| 6.14.12 @ 8:07PM

take john engler...take michigan...take the white house...

michigans unemployment rate was 3.2% under john engler. imo he would bring ohio with him too.

Jack in Wi| 6.15.12 @ 6:29AM

I met Engler 20 years ago. This rotund little guy has to be over 70 and about as exciting as paint drying. Is this all the party can come up with?

Crassus| 6.15.12 @ 9:03AM

John Engler! Please! You people in Michigan haven't been the same since you lost to Appalachian State.

Bob Grant| 6.14.12 @ 10:05PM

At this point he could appoint anyone or anything he wants. An old leather shoe, used condom wrapper, etc.

Another big-nothing-burger-of-a-speech. After that pathetic speech today, I sense even strong supporters are getting tired of this worn out act.

I predict a strong break for Romney in the next month or two.

JmsA| 6.14.12 @ 11:19PM

We could certainly do worse than Senator Kyl.

Pecos Pete| 6.15.12 @ 8:34AM

I'm for Kyl.

Oldefarte| 6.15.12 @ 1:47PM

Kyl is no doubt a keeper, but as to foreign policy experience, I'm not doing hand-stands on the ultimate need for same. Hell, as intelligent as Jimdal is, he could read-research enough material in one hour to become up to speed on the necessary foriegn policy matters IMHO. Also, WTF need is there for same in this current environment? Europe hates our guts, and never politically supported our war efforts in the ME or elsewhere. Russia? Oh they sell us their price inflated oil and then sell arms to the Arabs to kill our soldiers with. The only foreign policy knowledge needed is IMHO what does Netenyahu like to eat [so that the WH chef can prepare a meal for his liking] and then make numerous trips to Israel to coordinate our policies with them. Case closed. Oh and as to foreign aid, it needs to be totally or mostly eliminated. The ilkish morons that are and have been turning over the American taxpayers' hard earned money to these creeps to squander should be all jailed for same. Boy the $trillions in foreign aid spent has really provided tremendous political support for our supposed allies, right??????????

JPM| 6.15.12 @ 2:30PM

The problem with Kyl (or Engler) is that he is too old to be a suitable successor for Romney. Since the GOP chooses its candidates the way hotel doormen choose taxis, it is crucial that Romney's VP be someone who can take up the banner in 2020. It's possible to change VP's in 2016, but reshuffling the ticket has prohibitive political costs. The 2012 running mate has to be young and ought to be much more reliably conservative (and deeper) than Mitt. At the same time he needs to have enough experience to be a plausible President. Governor Jindal fits the bill perfectly and it isn't clear that anyone else does.

clemsberry| 6.16.12 @ 11:43AM

jon kyl is the perfect answer to the vp question. him in a debate with bidomb would be priceless....
