Quin isn’t
impressed with talk of South Dakota Republican Senator John
Thune being Romney’s number two. I second his motion.
I haven’t been much of a fan of Thune since
he opposed John Bolton’s nomination as UN ambassador back in
2005. If Romney were to be elected, Bolton would be a leading
candidate to be appointed Secretary of State.
Not that there’s any rule that a V-P and a Secretary of State
have to like each other. Still, I think if Romney were to make this
pick it would be terribly out of Thune.

The idea that Romney might appoint Bolton S of S is probably the single most off-putting thing about him. Foreign policy above all needs to be cheap, and a Bolton would get us involved in yet more endless futile "nation-building" in the Middle East.
Thune and Portman would both sharply diminish Romney's modest appeal. He needs to appoint someone who covers for his faults, not reinforces them.

John Bolton? He took money from a terrorist, Marxist terrorist organization--he belongs in Gitmo, not as Sec State.
Plus one for Thune, though.
