Meghan McCain is out there making the circuit with her new book, America You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom.
In so doing she complains about her Internet critics — to which I can only say: chill out.
Politics, as Mr. Dooley said, ain’t bean bag. What she is seeing on the Internet is only the Internet version of the kind of things millions of Americans have muttered under their breath about political personalities for centuries. Only now, cloaked in anonymity, this stuff makes it onto the Internet. One would gently suggest she learn to ignore it — a must if she intends to continue.
Now as to her recent column in the Daily Beast … one can only marvel at her naïveté.
Without the slightest hint that she understood the irony, she said this:
Last week, I went on Al Sharpton’s MSNBC show PoliticsNation to talk about extremism in the Republican Party. As a socially liberal Republican, this happens to be a topic I know a lot about.
I confess to being speechless.
Let me see if I understand this. Ms. McCain actually went on the show of a man whom we have written about here as shouting a gay slur on national television (here). Not to mention that her host is the same guy (audios linked in my article) captured on audio tape calling the Mayor of New York the “n-word” and referring to “Greek homos.”
In other words, there is Meghan McCain sitting blissfully on the television show of a man who has a repeated habit of gay-bashing and race-baiting — bullying — while saying that Republicans are extremists.
Did she have the courage to call Sharpton out on this?
Nah.
But she is concerned if you think she has a weight problem. And she can write up a storm about Internet bullies. But face to face with a real bully? Somebody who has been out there gay bashing on camera? Why, she melts. So much for principle and Republican moderates.
Personally? What Meghan McCain looks like is irrelevant. What she so passively buys into is frightening.

As I’ve written in the past, each time another report goes out on the internet on something young Ms. McCain does, I picture a grizzled former torturer who worked at the Hanoi Hilton as he reads of her remarks or actions in an internet café in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The veteran scratches his now gray buzz cut, and ponders that there are more effective ways to torment and humiliate a man beyond beating him and breaking his bones.

I do feel sorry for McCain, a war hero. If Meghan's last name was Jones, nobody would care. So she is trying to hustle a book using her last name. Remember Reagan's son Ron Jr., on MSNBC, and his daughter posing for Playboy? Cuts across party lines, with Roger Clinton and Billy Carter, and too many Kennedys to mention.
Driving home from south, saw a great billboard on the Pa/West Virginia border in the coal counties: WELCOME TO THE OBAMA NO-JOB ZONE. Then a description of the coal groups that posted it.

Are you kidding? Does anything else REALLY need to be said after announcing the TITLE of her ridiculous book? As with just about everything that comes out of that poor young woman's mouth, it screams adolescence: insecurity, immaturity, and wanting to be thought 'cool.' (Who writes a love letter to anyone and calls them a 'sexy bitch'? Much less your country.)
She is a total embarrassment - the political equivalent of a girl who sleeps around because she thinks it makes her popular.

Look, folks. Cut using the foul language against Ms. McCain. Few of us would say such things in the presence of a woman. We should follow the same behavior in private and in our communications. I am surprised TAS has allowed these repugnant missives on its own site.
My own thoughts: I wish Republicans of all stripes would pause and take heed in view of the history of the media’s and liberal’s treatment of all mavericks who bad mouth conservative Republicans. They’ll exploit you for their own purposes giving you your 15 seconds in the limelight and then throw you down the memory hole once you cease to be useful to them (usually one or two news cycles). After that, you’ll end up serving fries at McDonalds.
