The Spectacle Blog

First, The Washington Post went after Mitt Romney for an alleged bullying incident which took place nearly  50 years ago. Then they went after him for a massacre committed by Mormons in Arkansas 150 years ago. Now they’ve gone after him for his rhythm or lack thereof.

As you probably know, Romney was heckled by residents of West Philadelphia (egged on in part by the Obama campaign) during a visit to a charter school run by Kenny Gamble of Gamble & Huff fame. More on him later.

Here is the WaPost’s Philip Rucker describing Romney’s interaction with schoolchildren:

Inside the school, Romney debated issues with educators and tried to connect with students. When he visited a classroom where the kids in the elementary school choir were standing, swaying and clapping to the beat of Kirk Franklin’s “I Smile”, Romney appeared charmed but did not dance with them. Rather, he tapped one of his toes slightly and bobbed his head, but did not catch the rhythm.

Didn’t catch the rhythm? Romney isn’t a contestant on Dancing With The Stars or So You Think You Can Dance? But apparently the WaPost thinks being able to dance like Savion Glover is a prerequisite for residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Of course, if Romney had danced with the kids you can be sure he would have got grief for it as he did when he sang “America The Beautiful” a few months back.

The WaPost could have taken a moment from its critique of Romney’s footwork to mention that Kenny Gamble is now known as Luqman Abdul Haqq (a.k.a. Brother Luqman). Luqman has been buying up properties in South Philly and has been criticized for wanting to turn Philly into a Muslim only enclave and for his association with jihadists in the Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA).

Not only does Romney get heckled by people who don’t know what they’re protesting but he gets blamed for things for which he was not responsible. Brother Luqman criticized Romney for the anti-busing activities which occurred in Boston during the 1970s. Except that these activities took place a quarter century before Romney was elected Governor.

And on top of it, the WaPost goes after Romney for being rhythmically challenged. All things considered, Romney’s time is better spent campaigning elsewhere.

Yes, I was rather stunned by that. And you'd think the racism police would have been all over the "oh, black folk have rhythm but Whitey doesn't" implication. Instead, the usual crickets.

Oldefarte| 5.25.12 @ 9:22PM

I simply don't understand why politicians of the NORMAL VARIETY like Romney even bother to make campaign stops at places such as this. I mean WTF, they're not going to convince anyone to abondon their brainwashed-propagandized robo-vote for THE ONE. If that were to happen, the heavens would open up and volcanic lightening would rein down upon us all no doubt, while a deep voice from above would proclaim, WHAT YOU TALKIN 'BOUT, WILLIS? The NAACP once advertised that A MIND IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE, but sadly most of these minds are wasted anyway. The truly sad thing is that the Democratic Party [including this POTUS[ has been screwing them every which way but loose for centuries and they just keep on saying YES SIR, KEEP STICKIN' IT TO ME, MASSAH. Sad, truly sad!!!!!!!!

Blacks are dying as a people. Whether it be drugs, abortion, prison whatever. In 10-20 years they will be irrelevant.

Romney has five sons where as Obama only has two according to his teleprompter. It will be quite the story as he takes them to all 57 states. You know we might be dealing with composite sons and states. It is all so complicated when you are dealing with a self identified brilliant person. Besides Romney has no experience with real life. Has he ever been a community organizer? Has he ever been a druggie? Has he ever been abandoned by his parents? Has he ever abandoned his grandparents who raised him in favor of a bunch of passive aggressive thugs? Can he spend so much time golfing and never seem to improve? Can he bow to foreign dictators or hit the overcharge button? Could he bitch about Bain while taking their money. Could he blubber on and on about hope change and then give billions of dollars to his money bundlers? That is because he has no rhythm or experience. A guy like Romney could never build a great city like Detroit, that will take the smartest man in the world. A guy that could put a thrill up an overrated MSNBC host's leg.

How should Romney, serious businessman and political-professional, run against our first Pop-Cultured president? it's nice that PopMedia is so concerned.

Richard Baker| 5.26.12 @ 12:56PM

So he doesn't have rhythm, big fat hairy deal. The implication is, of course, that black folks do, right? Sounds like a Jim Crow observation. Do any of these lefties possess ANY intellect? Doesn't appear so.

And now, the REST OF THE STORY:
'..... Breitbart.com Obama Campaign Organizes Occupy-Style Protests Against Romney by John Nolte 22 hours ago....Buried deep in yesterday's Washington Post article about presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney being heckled during a visit to an inner-city school in Philadelphia, is the extraordinary news that a portion of those hecklers were organized by the Obama campaign:
Outside, meanwhile, some brick row houses across from the school were boarded up. Police had cordoned off a full city block to protect Romney and his entourage. Residents, some of them organized by Obama’s campaign, stood on their porches and gathered at a sidewalk corner to shout angrily at Romney. Some held signs saying, “We are the 99%.” One man’s placard trumpeted an often-referenced Romney gaffe: “I am not concerned about the very poor.”
Madaline G. Dunn, 78, who said she has lived here for 50 years and volunteers at the school, said she is “personally offended” that Romney would visit her neighborhood.“It’s not appreciated here,” she said. “It is absolutely denigrating for him to come in here and speak his garbage.”Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter (D) addressed protesters and the media, quipping that Romney “suddenly somehow found West Philadelphia.”I'm not sure which is more offensive: the President of the United States community organizing private citizens to artificially undermine an opponent's visit to an inner-city school with Occupy Wall Street sloganeering, or the Washington Post' s Philip Rucker not only burying this news but also allowing themselves to be willingly duped into covering the story in the way the Obama campaign desired. Obviously, what the Obama campaign wanted was a headline exactly like the one the Post gave them:Hecklers mar Romney’s visit to inner-city charter school in PhiladelphiaThe last thing Team Obama wanted this week were stories about Mitt Romney reaching out to this community, so they manufactured a situation that would allow the media to write stories about how the rich, white, out-of-touch guy isn't welcome there. But even though they got caught manufacturing the situation, the White House still got the coverage they desired from their Palace Guards. Remember when the Post opposed and exposed campaign dirty tricks? Good times. Good times......'

Yeah, they dancin' all the way to the welfare office, and don't want no disturbances by Romney!!!!!!

Savion Glover?

Occam's Tool| 5.27.12 @ 11:35PM

I like this data better---it has a beat and I can dance top it---Romney was the Valedictorian of his BYU class. He did a combined JD-MBA program at Harvard, and graduated with honors from both. He is tremendously successful at manipulating hard numerical data.

Beethoven was not known as a dancer. What we need is a Composer. Composers manipulate musical data, and overlap with mathematical skill is quite common with musicians. Check out the history of Jeff "Skunk" Baxter to see my point.

" Rush Limbaugh: Romney Is Not A Conservative

The reason is simple: Romney is not a conservative. He's not, folks. You can argue with me all day long on that, but he isn't. "

Calvin| 5.28.12 @ 1:25PM

Romney just has to be better than Obama and he is by a long shot. Libertarians aren't conservative either but if they get the nomination I will vote for them (even Ron Paul). Third parties are for losers who try to pretend that they had nothing to do with the problems our country faces. They are just Obama supporters in disguise.

Oldefarte| 5.28.12 @ 2:35PM

He does not have to be a conservative, only an normal/capitalist/G-d-fearing American [unlike the present office holder]. In politics, you never get 100% of what you want, and to STAY HOME and NOT VOTE is insane/stupid/idiotic/childish/asinine/imbicilic/unpatriotic/traitoristic etc . The reason we now have this present POTUS and the domestic-terrorism Democrat politicians now in control of this country is due to the historical above behavior of citizens-voters acting ''''''STUPIDLY''''' upon entering their respective voting booths [especially in Pennsylvania]!!!!!!!!!

" Gingrich: Conservatives Won't Let Wall St. And Romney "Buy Election"

"Look, the conservative movement is not going to sit by and let a Massachusetts liberal, who's pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-tax increase, pro-gay rights, whose Romneycare in two articles in the last 24 hours were described as the equivalent of Obamacare and who George Soros says is just fine. He'd be happy with either Obama or Romney [be]cause they are both the establishment -- that's just George Soros," Newt Gingrich told FOX News' Bret Baier on the campaign trail in Tampa, Florida.

"Now, the conservative movement isn't going to sit back and say 'Oh yes, let's let Wall Street, and Goldman Sachs and Mitt Romney buy the election. So you're going to see a real grass roots fight. It will be people power vs. Goldman Sachs and Mitt Romney," he added."

Oldefarte| 5.28.12 @ 2:41PM

The only ones I'm aware of presently BUYING ELECTIONS are the GD sleezy Democrats handing out cigarettes and booze on ever street corner [with the promise of additional governmental welfare benefits if their candidates are penciled in on the ballot of each election]. Since Democrat constituents are too stupid to investigate/research the qualification of respective candidates and need to be brainwashed-propagandized by these domestic terrorists aka Democrats into electing more of them, naturally elections in this country increasingly resemble those in Mexico or other third world nations [especially those in Pennsylvania where the DA's vote for Spector types historically]!!!!!!!

Mick Lee| 5.29.12 @ 8:50AM

Look. If Romney catches the flu, WP is going to go after him for having a temperature. The sooner we simply expect this crap and turn our guns on Obama the better.
