Choosing North Carolina for the Democratic National Convention is looking more and more like a massive misstep on the part of the Obama campaign. The state Democratic Party has faced a lugubrious sexual harassment scandal, on top of the incumbent Democratic governor, Bev Perdue, remaining too unpopular to seek a second term. Add to that the overwhelming vote on Tuesday to pass a marriage amendment — 61 percent in favor to 39 percent against — and the picture becomes even worse.

As in other states, the marriage amendment vote cut across party lines. In fact, the divide was more along rural vs. urban than Democrat vs. Republican.

Out of North Carolina’s 100 counties, only 7 voted to oppose the marriage amendment. Of those seven, only four did so by a margin of 5,000 votes or more. The anti-amendment votes were concentrated in the most populous urban areas that also happen to have major universities — the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area, Charlotte, Asheville, and Wilmington.

Even the most optimistic supporters of the amendment thought that a 60-percent margin of victory would be a major surprise. Sixty-one percent was a home run.

It’s little wonder, then, that Obama chose to scuttle a trip to Asheville the day of the vote.

Brilliant, Bill. Do you have a website? An MSNBC show?

Welcome to South!
Yes, I do. That is FNC.

Well, I have got Hope and Change for November. I hope Obama and his minions get routed and we get real change back to the way things were before Barack.

Yeah, we are so radical. One husband and one wife in a marriage.
A statement so filled with rage and hate I scarce believe I could write it.
And the poor gays whose life is not complete without state sanctioning of their couplehood? Pathetic.

Obama and his minions miscalculated on this one. Hope it blows up in their face.

We know which way the wind was blowing for Obama after his cowardly act before North Carolina ...and his being forced to come out the next day and come out of the closet. He had no choice but to try to throw the fags a bone after what took place Tuesday night. He threw you a wet kiss.

Are you getting "a chill" running up your thighs?

Everyone already knew where Obama stood on gay marriage. He was waiting for the right moment to announce it and make if official. Perhaps he had bad timing on this one.

Here's the opposite of the HOMOSEXUALISM rave that's sweeping the country, or at least in the Hollywood sections thereof:
