Doubling down on his new role as Decider, Barack Obama will give a speech from Afghanistan at 7:30 this evening on the anniversary of the bin Laden strike. The president is on firm ground taking credit for signing off on a raid that killed one of America’s deadliest sworn enemies. It is his campaign’s characterization of Mitt Romney’s views on going after bin Laden that should be in dispute.
In any event, if the president plans to “spike the football,” here is my advice on how to do it.

SEALs slam Obama for using them as 'ammunition' in bid to take credit for bin Laden killing during election campaign
Chris Kyle, a former SEAL sniper with 160 confirmed and another 95 unconfirmed kills to his credit, said: ‘The operation itself was great and the nation felt immense pride. It was great that we did it.
‘But bin Laden was just a figurehead. The war on terror continues. Taking him out didn’t really change anything as far as the war on terror is concerned and using it as a political attack is a cheap shot.
‘In years to come there is going to be information that will come out that Obama was not the man who made the call. He can say he did and the people who really know what happened are inside the Pentagon, are in the military and the military isn’t allowed to speak out against the commander- in-chief so his secret is safe.’
Senior military figures have said that Admiral William McRaven, a former SEAL who was then head of Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) made the decision to take bin Laden out.

Angelo M. Codevilla wrote an article in 2009 that Osama had been dead for a while--a theme that was written in numerous counter-Bush high brow and rightwing publications (e.g. Chronicles).
I am at a loss, particularly in light of the Stratfor e-mails that open up another angle, why conservative media won't touch it with a ten foot poll.
The conservative media in the 90s wasn't afraid to hit Clinton on every front--from political murder to false flags.
What is really going on here? Why are punches being pulled? From Romney sure, but every corner of the Beltway Conservative media?

" Michael Scheuer, the former chief of the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA's) Osama bin Laden unit, told the U.K. Daily Telegraph in a recent interview he was prevented from capturing or killing the terrorist by his superiors on at least 10 separate occasions.
In 1995, Scheuer was selected to lead the spy agency’s bin Laden efforts. By then the militant Islamist was exiled in Sudan after angering Saudi authorities. Bin Laden was running several businesses in the African nation that Scheuer suggested disrupting. “We formulated operations and submitted them for approval but they would not approve any of them,” the ex-CIA official told the Daily Telegraph. “If we had been able to deal a serious economic blow it could have been a show-stopper.”
Scheuer told the Telegraph that following the missed opportunities to kill or capture bin Laden in 1998, there were at least eight other chances to get the terror mastermind. By that point, bin Laden was supposedly among the U.S. government’s most wanted criminals. But for some unknown reason, senior officials refused to authorize his capture or assassination.
“One 50-cent round could have put us all out of our agony,” Scheuer explained. But that didn’t happen, as high-level authorities consistently ordered the CIA unit not to stop bin Laden."
