A word to the wise to Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, who seems
very eager to be chosen as Mitt Romney’s running mate: If you veto
the new voter-ID bill now before you, then fuhgeddaboutit!!!
What sort of pathetic excuse for a conservative does not
understand that requiring voters to show IDs is fair, wise,
sensible, reasonable, and desperately necessary for the integrity
of our elections?
Yet McDonnell
still is unsure whether he will sign the bill, worrying
entirely about spurious objections that basically amount to
excuses, as if he somehow fears the Occupy crowd.
As this
Washington Post story explained, Virginia legislators carefully
considered the governor’s suggestions, and accepted some of them
while rejecting the one about voter signatures for the patently
obvious and sensible reason that it would turn polling officials
into handwriting analysts with no training, and open up decisions
to widespread lawsuits.
Look, Guv’ner: 64% of Americans support photo ID laws. Voter
fraud is rampant, with 46 states featuring vote-fraud prosecutions
in the past decade. And career Democrats such as former Rep. Artur
Davis and longtime pollster Pat Caddell says IDs are essential for
the integrity of the vote.
Do you really want Virginia to be to the left of Rhode
Island when it comes to voter ID?
Get some backbone, Gov. McDonnell. As Robin Williams’ character
asked in Dead Poets Society, “are you a man, or an
amoeba?”

Bob is just being cautious & actually reading the bill after having learned the lesson from the ultrasound bill fiasco here in VA. Can't blame him there. He will sign it though. No doubt.
JEB| 4.30.12 @ 3:16PM
Gov. Bob McDonnell better sign it.
Or I will do everything in my power to forever end everything and all in his public life.
Any good American who has taken off a day of work to devote to the electoral process in America, working the 16+ hours inside a polling station on an election day knows that vote fraud is easy to do and is done.
This requirement for color photo ID is but one tiny baby step in the right direction.
There is still a long, long way to go.
We are still a banana republic when it comes to ensuring the integrity of the vote.

The "Banana Republics" do a better job of insuring the integrity of the vote.

I had so high hopes for McDonnell when he becamse Governor, but he has proven to be a major disappointment.
His habitual wimpishness should fit in quite well if the Mittster selects him as his running mate. No doubt all the pseudo-conservative Romneyzoid hacks will be drooling over the choice, which speaks to just how little it takes to impress those people.

Hi Clinty!!
Tom| 4.30.12 @ 5:01PM
Another Romneyzoid who is totally clueless of what he/she/it is babbling about.
Bill| 4.30.12 @ 11:58AM
Bob McDonald signed the "toughest" anti-abortion law in the country, and He will sign the Voter ID bill to stop the amigos led fraud in the ballot like 2008.

McDonnell is a pandering puke. He will do as he is told. Don't forget, he is Chair of Obama's unconstitutional Council of Governors, so he owes his owners. When the Va State legislature voted nearly unanimously to pass HB1160 (Introduced by U.S. Senate Candidate, Delegate Bob Marshall to disallow any Virginia agency from aiding and abetting any provision of the NDAA...) McDonnell worked aggressively behind the scenes to quash it. When I confronted him on live radio about his subterfuge of HB1160, he denied it, even though Delegate Marshall publicly called him out on it in the state legislature, which makes McDonnell a liar as well.
We see thru you| 4.30.12 @ 3:29PM
Ms. Crabhill, I must concur with your remarks.
Bob McDonnell looks the part. (Ah, but so does Obama....)
We are constantly plagued by fakes.
Those with no mind, no soul. No REAL VALUES.
I would say that the fakes in political offices or who aspire to them come in all shapes and sizes, but this is false. They don't. We always get these caucasian males that stand right at about 6 foot tall, still with a head of hair, a set of teeth, a very, very practiced smile, and the ability to sound sincere but have something else in mind entirely. Oh and they've cultivated a family just so it looks best in those glossy campaign brochures.
Didn't anyone else see it in the Richmond Colosseum in May 2009?
The man who used his daughter's blonde and leggy looks and her Army ROTC to Army Reserve story as if it was his own?
So many will say, well, you have to go with the Bob McDonnells because the alternatives are just that much worse. Are they? Who says? And have we really stooped so low?
Bob McDonnell is not focused on being a good moral man and doing his utmost to make Virgina a showcase for the nation in terms of low taxes, and....yes, you conservatives -- small government. Has Virginia state government gotten any smaller in his three years so far?
Government pensions and health care alone sink the ship of state.
No, no, Bobby McDonnell is doing all and everything he can to be Mitt Romney's VP choice as he'll need a job come year 2013. Failing this opportunity, look for Bobby McDonnell to join the U.S. Senate SPEND, SPEND, SPEND! Club in 2014.
And, remember, it is okay to vote for him, for McDonnell -- after all, he looks the part.

Quin is as usual absolutely correct on this issue. Being not familiar with this state's ID issue but with same in general, this is another example of the sleeziness and domestic terrorism of the Democratic Party operatives [especially under this POTUS]. I viewed on TV recently an interview with a national organization whose purpose is to promote citizen oversight at polling stations to more insure the absence of voter-fraud [which apparently is rampart nationally, using deceased etc non-existent voters names in order to cast erroneous votes]. This is all why Democrats fight and do not want voter-ID laws enacted, as same would prevent their Acorn type thefts of elections. Again......IT'S THE DEMOCRATS, STUPIDS! Also, I suspect that Va. is within breathing distance to Washington DC and has been recently say liberalistic in its voting patterns, so if this Republican governor is being persuaded by his Democrat collegues within the state, it's not surprising that he is wavering on passage of this ID law. The probelm is the seat of political power of Washington DC in control of way too many things within this country presently, AND THIS EXCREMENT NEEDS TO STOP YESTERDAY.........VOTE THE STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET IN NOVEMBER AS A START-BEGINNING OF THAT PROCESS!!!!
RJ| 4.30.12 @ 1:14PM
McDonnell has been in office for slightly more than two years. I hope Romney picks someone for the VP nominee with more experience and who has been more seriously vetted in the public forum.
Voter fraud destroys the legitimacy of democratic government. Our current system is too weak to prevent it. Reform is needed.

Yes, Mr. Hillyer, Guvna Bob is a wimp.....as is Speakuh Bahnar and almost all of those Republicans we have on Capitol Hill. If they would just grow a pair and get after these marxists it would be a landslide that would eclipse 2010. But, when you listen to Rove's advice and the McCain leftovers you get this crap we have now. Pitiful. Flippin Sissies
