Underscoring just how out of touch with ordinary Americans the president has become, the Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard reports that blue collar Democrats in swing states are none too pleased with the 17 lavish vacations that the Obamas have taken.

Pollsters who have conducted focus group discussions about the state of the economy found that on numerous occasions these 2008 Obama voters volunteered that the First Family has taken too many vacations. “The theme is that the first family ‘is out of touch’ with working class voters,” pollster John McLaughlin said after discussions with voters in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Notice how many nice things that the marxists like? Such as: fancy and expensive vacations, private airplanes, limousines, fine food, fine wines, lavish parties, coupled with degrading music and poetry.
Fine things for me, but taxes for thee.

There is no doubt that Obama and his pals are completly out of touch. How does out of touch Romney attack him with his 35 million dollar mansion in La Jolla?

RJ| 4.26.12 @ 7:25PM

Romney won't need to, because others will do so. For me, the big difference between Romney and Obama on this issue is that Romney is spending his own money, which he earned, while Obama is exploiting the taxpayers with his luxurious lifestyle.

The "generic" attack against Romney is that he came from a "rich family". When you bother to dig a little deeper - what you find is a true "rags to riches" American success story. Mitt's father, George Romney (you know - the "RICH" guy) - grew up dirt poor on an Idaho potato farm. He started work at age 11 on neighboring farms to help his family survive. His family went broke again in 1929. But he didn't sit on the couch, waiting for a government handout. Never getting the chance to get a college degree, he nonetheless used hard work to gain a good job with Alcoa. He then moved to Detroit to work for his old Alcoa boss as a spokesman for the auto industry, transitioning to an "effciency expert" role when WWII broke out. He helped the entire country during this time, by helping the auto companies produce the tanks, planes, and guns that won the war. He was so successful in this role, that he was chosen for an executive position with what later became AMC. While running AMC after the sudden death of the man who hired him - Romney took most of his bank at the struggling company in stock options. When his introduction of the "Rambler" line saved the company and boosted AMC stock from below $7 to more than $90 per share - George Romney finally became very rich (along with other AMC investors) and he deserved every penny. It all started with an 11 year old who went to work to help his farm family and learned a solid work ethic while doing so.

Mitt Romney grew up in Detroit, watching his father save this struggling company (AMC), and watched as his father led a group that re-wrote the state Constitution for Michigan, and was then elected to three terms as governor - each with a bigger margin of victory. George Romney represented EVERYONE as governor - even marching with black civil rights leaders. Mitt did not have "quite" the priviledged upbringing as the media would have you believe - he undoubtably far more work as a boy and young man than the spoiled teenagers of today - he was taught a work ethic by his father who knew how valuable that was.

Simple: Romney worked for the money which bought his mansion, and gives away millions in charity. ALL of Obama's vacays are stolen from the taxpayer.

Yup, communism at it''s best!

George Orwell's "1984" has come to life in America. I guess we are lucky that Obama is such a condescending narcissist, addicted to living like ancient royalty (even the Windsors of England live more modestly than the Obamas). A dedicated socialist, who practiced what he/she preached, would be more difficult to defeat.

My vacations this year will be limited to time at the range. That is all I can afford. Lori (wife) will do day trips to the beach. Between ammo & gas that will be about our budget.

Monkey Overstreet| 4.26.12 @ 8:06PM

I think any president that takes his family on vacation ought to be impeached immediately.

mjs_pa| 4.27.12 @ 1:09AM

We'd had all been better off if obama had taken many more and longer vacations.

simples| 4.27.12 @ 3:26AM

Yeah, okay. Maybe. But only if he's going to say Winchester, Virginia (just outside D.C.) or, if he has to got to Illinois, just to Joliet, furthest maybe to Peoria. Why can't he just enjoy his house in Chicago like former president Bush would just go with Laura to the ranch in Waco?

Besides, I thought this is why we taxpayers maintain Camp David all year long.

Bob K.| 4.27.12 @ 3:01PM

Camp David is the equivalent those big Russian Dachas reserved for the the General Secretary of the old CPSU which owned everything in Russia.

The big difference is that in the USA Camp David is reserved for our Imperial Presidency and it is paid for and maintained by the taxpayer.

Movin on up,
To the White House.
We finally got a piece of the pie.
