After igniting a three-day firestorm Wednesday by asserting on CNN that Ann Romney has “never worked a day in her life,” Democratic National Committee adviser Hilary Rosen has backed out of a scheduled Sunday appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press.
“I have said enough and … I don’t have anything more to say,” Rosen wrote in a note posted to the Meet the Press Web page. “I apologized to Mrs. Romney and work-in-home moms for mistakenly giving the impression that I do not think their work is valuable. Of course it is. I will instead spend the weekend trying to explain to my kids the value of admitting a mistake and moving on.”
Rosen’s “apology” to Mitt Romney’s wife was nothing of the sort: “Spare me the faux anger from the right who view the issue of women’s rights and advancement as a way to score political points.” Does that sound apologetic to you?
Rosen was criticized by top Obama adviser David Axelrod (“inappropriate and offensive”) and by Obama 2012 campaign manager Jim Messina, who said, “Her comments were wrong and family should be off limits.” Thus, Rosen — a lesbian whose former partner is gay-rights activist Elizabeth Birch — may have brought to an inglorious conclusion the effort of Democrats to portray Republicans as waging a “War on Women.”
As I explained last month (“Political Puppet Show,” March 6), the starting gun for that effort seems to have been George Stephanopoulos’s question to Mitt Romney in a Jan. 7 debate in Manchester, N.H.: “Senator Santorum has been very clear in his belief that the Supreme Court was wrong when it decided that a right to privacy was embedded in the Constitution. And following from that, he believes that states have the right to ban contraception.… Governor Romney, do you believe that states have the right to ban contraception? Or is that trumped by a constitutional right to privacy?” Subsequently, House Democrats staged a Feb. 27 “hearing” about contraception with Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, which ignited a controversy when radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh called Fluke a “slut.”
Whatever political advantage Democrats gained from that was destroyed in the conflagration touched off by Rosen’s criticisms of Ann Romney, a mother of five who is a cancer survivor and now afflicted with multiple sclerosis. Toby Harnden of the U.K. Daily Mail writes:
Hilary Rosen’s comments were a spectacular own goal by Democrats but also a result of their recent overreach in attacking Republicans for a supposed “war on women” and portraying Rush Limbaugh as the leader of the GOP.
So what can be regarded as the first week of the general election campaign — with Rick Santorum’s Tuesday concession ending the fight for GOP nomination — must be counted a win for Republicans, thanks to a Democrat who blew herself up with her party’s own meme.

'...... by John Nolte 8 hours ago With the media completely on President Obama's side and his cynical, divisive national community organizing in a full racial and gender rage, two new polls show none of it's working. Furthermore, even though Governor Romney has not yet been crowned the GOP nominee or even turned his primary battleship around into a general election machine, he appears to be in the kind of shape the media would have you believe is impossible:Fox News yesterday:Republican Mitt Romney holds a slim edge over President Obama in a head-to-head matchup, a Fox News poll released Thursday shows. In addition, the poll finds the president’s job rating has dropped to its lowest point of the year. In a presidential matchup, Romney tops Obama by 46-44 percent if the election were today. Rasmussen Reports today:In a hypothetical Election 2012 matchup, Mitt Romney earns 48% of the vote, while President Obama attracts 44%. That's Romney's biggest advantage in over a month. It's certainly not helping President FailureTeleprompter that he's overseeing the worst economic "recovery" since the Great Depression, all after creating record deficits, and doing so in-between a record number of golf games and all kinds of taxpayer-funded lavish vacations. Another problem for Obama is that an incumbent below 50% is usually in trouble. After all, Americans have already had four years to kick the tires and take a test drive. Obviously, they don't like what they've seen and that means it's Mr. Romney's job to merely show himself to be the acceptable alternative. This reality is why Obama will be going from "hope and change" to "smear and scare" this year, an approach we've already seen with his phony War on Women crusade and the cynical exploitation of the Trayvon Martin shooting. And don’t forget his surrogate, Hilary Rosen's attempt to smear and marginalize Ann Romney, who everyone knows will be a huge asset to her husband's ticket. Worse news for the President is that immediately after the Obama-inspired attack on Ms. Romney Wednesday night, the Romney campaign proved itself a machine that's already efficient, able to capitalize, and ready to do battle.November is a long way off, but just the thought of Obama joining the ranks of the record number of unemployed his failed policies have created makes me giddy and, frankly, right now I'd rather be Romney than him.....'

We know it's not going to work, but they don't. This is one of their strongest core beliefs, what they were taught by Marx and Engels. They believe that they have to incite a war between classes, or races, or genders, so that a violent revolution brings about their communist utopia. Such a strategy won't work in the UNITED States, but they will keep trying until they are all exposed.

I know that there has been an increase in prayer among Christians for our country. Sometimes I wonder if God is intervening when I hear comments such as Rosen gave. It is what the left thinks after all so maybe it just comes out eventually despite their best efforts to conceal their true identities. Other things are happening as well to show the left's weaknesses and Obam's speaches more and more land with a thud. God may be in these events as an answer to prayer to stop the rampant destruction of the country by Obam and the left.
Vern Crisler | 4.14.12 @ 2:53PM
Geez, if God were really bothering over all these election primaries, he wouldn't have allowed Mitt Romney to win the Republican nomination. I think it's safe to say that providential historiography is rather inscrutable when it comes to presidential histories.
Oldefarte| 4.15.12 @ 11:40AM
'...Allowed Romney to win...' What about Obama? Does twenty years in front of Jeremiah Wright ring a bell perhaps? How about this Hilary Rosen or Sandra Fluke maybe? One a lesbian LGBT/HRC female adopter of two, while the other a career liberal protestor, and BOTH implanted by the DNC to critisize Republican candidates and instigate their ire? Are the Romney's being Mormons comparable to THAT [not in my GD book........never]!!!!!!!
beebop2| 4.14.12 @ 8:20AM
I could not possibly care less about Hilary Rosen, her sexual orientation, who she worked for or how the dem party has tried to put distance between her and itself.
There were much more chilling economic indicators for all Americans this week that did not get the exposure they needed. But? Remaining for just one moment on the female voter .... 1. Is someone doing a side by side comparison to vet the salary disparity in the 0bama administration between men and women? Can we have an apples to apples example, please? 2. Please, please, please someone go one level more into the percentage of females who have lost jobs under the current regime ... how many of those were FEMALE HOUSEHOLDS and thereby impact not just the bread earner, but each and every person under that roof. Can we assume that she is one of the new food stamp recipients? Can we assume that she is receiving government assistance in lieu of being a tax paying and contributing member of American soceity?
The new CAFE standards? Barely a whimper when on first blush 7 MILLION LOWER INCOME HOUSEHOLDS will no longer be able to afford a car? CRICKETS? Does no one make the connection that DRILL, BABY DRILL would make these insane requirements a thing of the past? Not to mention increased (taxable) oil revenues? It isn't enough to limit non union job opportunities, now they want to keep you in your cold, dim home, isolated from non democrat news?
I don't give a good damn about Hilary Rosen. I care that SOMEONE each and every day is exposing this night mare to independents so that they don't get fooled again ....
(As a side note, anyone see any statistics for "suicide by cop" increasing .....?) They have created an environment of quiet desperation.

'...I could not possibly care less about Hilary Rosen, her sexual orientation, who she worked for or how the dem party has tried to put distance between her and itself.....' I agree with everything else you stated but disagree with this. I do care about the DNC putting forth this lesbian LGBT'er and HRC protestor, along with this non-law student but instead career protestor for liberal causes, both masquerading as everyday Americans struggling in life and critisizing a truthful conservative radio commentator and a '''''RICH R8TCH''''' MOTHER OF FIVE. That I do care about, and think it stinks. It's C&P STREET HUSTLING CHICAGO STYLE disguised as normalcy designed to propangandize-brainwash the American public and evidently according to 11/4/08, it '''''STUPIDLY'''''was effective. Yes oh yes the economy is the supreme issue, but no one should overlook this dictatorial brainwashing elelment going on from 1600 and Chicago!!!!!!

What it looks like to me is that Obama and team are simply going to lie.
The economy is going great guns, has been since the day the Arrogant One set foot in the WH, the stimulus was a success and jobs are coming back at an unbelievable rate.
Unbelievable is exactly what it is.
Mitt or whoever is the candidate, must be able to response to total lies told by a bald-faced liar. I don't know how he will do it, but that appears to be the meme.
It is amazing that the person holding the highest office in the land can lie continually without someone laughing in his face. Instead the media clowns agree with him and write articles lauding his success.

Romney-bots cannot hope that Mitt wins this election simply because of mistakes made by Obama, the Obama administration, or the Obama campaign.
That's the problem with having an empty suit as a candidate: almost all emotional hopes for a win come down to grasping at straw gaffes on the part of the candidate's opponent.
But Romney will make the same sort of mistakes, and the media will not give him a pass, like they will with Obama.

The wishful thinking has really begun early and in earnest! I'm sorry for you all, but conservatives are not going to vote for Romney just because Romney-ites pathetically attempt to play at the Democrats' spin games--ie, taking Rosen's comments out of context. Pathetic. The Dems are the masters of this game--Rosen didn't step in it, she played her part perfectly--and Republicans can't win by beating Dems at their own game. I guess that's just one more reason how we know that Romney might be a Republican today, but he is not a conservative--conservatives aren't dishonest and stupid enough to think these games might work. And I guess that's just one more reason Romney will never win the conservative vote.

'taking Rosen's words out of context'? How is parading a lesbian LGBT/HRC with two soon-to-be maladjusted adopted children OUT OF CONTEXT? Was the similar outing of Fluke's historical liberal protesting OUT OF CONTEXT also? Your so-called 'conservatives' [or radicals] will have only two choices in November, and for the SURVIVAL OF THIS COUNTRY, they had better use the few brain cells available to them when and if they go to the polls!!!!!!!!!

By the way, the contraceptive question at the debate was not aimed at all the Republican candidates, it was a softball question for Mitt Romney to prove that he was not as crazy as crazy right-wing religious zealot Rick Santorum (who can't sleep at night for wanting the states to ban contraception and keep every woman barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen). Every question directed at Mitt Romney in the debates, especially up to that point, was a softball question to help him maintain the illusion of front-runner. They asked that question because Santorum had just won Iowa, so they had to deliberately and quickly elevate him so that they could then proceed to quickly kill him. The Democrats and their media hacks were just trying to help their man Romney with the nomination.
So now that we know that a random question turned out to be deliberate strategy, are you sure you want to be so giddy at this "accident" of Hilary Rosen? Are you sure it might not be a deliberate way to help kill Romney? Ah heck, what am I saying?! The Democrats and the media would never do anything like that! (And Republicans would never fall for it!)
Oldefarte| 4.15.12 @ 12:11PM
You no doubt have become sidetracked by the operations of the Chicago street hustlers/community organizers aka DNC. What occurred is that the Democrats [ie Pilosi] put up Fluke to TESTIFY before congress to instigate a WAR WITH FEMALES over contraception. Limbaugh STUPIDLY took the bait and called her a inappropriate term [which he subsequently and rightfully apologized for doing thus]. Santorum THE IDIOT CATHOLIC CRUSADER then wades into this argument and makes some moronic statements scaring the female population that Republicans want to take away/destroy their birth control, which is BS! Now poll-statistically the Republican nominee to be Romney is paying the price for Santorum's stupidity and asinine statements, and having to backtrack what he foolishly said. The DNC then parade out Rosen [supposed an EVERYDAY TYPE WOMAN] which was BS, as she's instead a historical lesbian with two adopted children [now DIVORSED or whatever] and a lifelong protestor within the LGBT/HRC community to critisize the RICH B(&CH; Ann Romney, and now the RNC and the Romneys have brilliantly countered this false political maneuver by the 1600-Chicago socialists. Its not Romney's fault, but the idiot Santorum and his rightwing nutjobs' since they are responsible for Romney's now 8% political defecit amoung women voters!!!!!!!

I for one appreciate your comment Mrs Romney's inexperience of real life struggles. I've found over the last few days, people, ie:news broadcasters etc, defending Romney- but, they also are in higher class brackets and have little idea of what real people go thru. Real struggles, life struggles, financial burdens, medical/dental/eye bills, food on the table(and I'll bet the food on their tables are a bit healthier than any lower class person can put on the table!). Hilary, I so totally agree with your statement, and thank you for saying what is real.
