I went to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston this
afternoon. This is the tenth time in the past eleven years I have
attended the parade. This year was by far the warmest. It hit 74
degrees today. I never thought I would go to a St. Paddy’s parade
wearing a t-shirt.
Over those years, I have seen some strange things such as the
Queens University Marching Band, professional wrestling legend Bob
Backlund and Darth Vader and The Imperial Storm Troopers.
Well, I can now add a contigent of Ron Paul supporters to the
list.
From my vantage point, they were greeted with indifference which
pretty much sums up the state of Paul’s campaign.

'....Dershowitz: Media Matters Attacks Against Israel Supporters 'Bigotry' Sunday, March 18, 2012 06:52 PMBy: Martin Gould and Kathleen Walter Charges by a blogger at the liberal Media Matters website that American supporters of Israel put Jerusalem’s interest above that of their nation are nothing more than “bigotry,” says Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz in an exclusive Newsmax.TV interview.“I turned down [the post of] Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations when Prime Minister Netanyahu offered me that job because I’m an American and I support America,” Dershowitz explained in the interview.“I don’t have to dual loyalty any more than any hyphenated Americans – Irish-Americans, Italian-Americans, Greek-Americans,” he added. “I’m a Jewish-American and I certainly have love for Israel, but I’m an American first.”Dershowitz has been in a war of words with M.J. Rosenberg, the senior foreign policy fellow for the left-wing website Media Matters for America. Rosenberg attacked the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) suggesting its loyalty lies with Jerusalem. “Saying AIPAC is guilty of dual loyalty is giving it credit for one more loyalty than it holds,” Rosenberg tweeted.“It’s gotten much worse. Media Matters has doubled down and M.J. Rosenberg has now said that his only response is to tell me to ‘go to H-E-L-L,’ and to urge my students to picket my classes, as if the students would listen to him,” Dershowitz said.
“But he is worse than he has ever been,” added Dershowitz, explaining that Rosenberg in the past has defended Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and “applauded” former UPI White House correspondent Helen Thomas for saying Jews should leave Israel and go to Poland.
“How dare M.J. Rosenberg accuse us of being Israel-firsters,” stormed Dershowitz. But he said his comments about Media Matters – the liberal site bankrolled by billionaire financial George Soros -- appear to have had an effect. Dershowitz said he believes the organization is no longer in regular contact with President Barack Obama’s White House.“The tent of the Democrats isn’t wide enough to include the bigotry of Media Matters and the White House has to clearly disassociate itself.“Since I’ve spoken about this, my information is the White House has had no communications with Media Matters. They have not been invited to the White House.“So we are seeing statements of mine and others having some impact, he said adding that he now hopes Obama will formally disassociate himself in the way he repudiated the Rev. Jeremiah Wright before his 2008 election.”.......'

Yeah, wants to cut spending and abide by the Constitution. "Crazy." Go vote for "Medicare Part D was unconstitutional when I whipped it, so elect me president so I can undo it" (because it turns out that a $17 trillion unfunded obligation was a bad idea, even if it hadn't been unconstitutional) Santorum.
Republicans say they want to cut spending, but then they vote for Romney, or Moon Colony Newt, or Medicare Part D Santorum. Apparently they're too stupid to read the news from Greece.
But Ron Paul is "crazy." Let's wait ten years, then reappraise his forecasts about the course the other three Republicans want to continue on.
Bob Grant| 3.18.12 @ 9:50PM
Aw yes. St. Patrick's day! I remember when celebrating SPD consisted of spending a nice quite evening in an Irish Pub eating pub food and ((slightly)) overindulging on Irish lager.
Because it's just one more excuse for the masses to go on a collective drinking binge, it's wise to just refrain and stay off the roads. It's not worth it where I live.
With age, I'm alot more discriminatory about what holidays to celebrate. I prefer only the one's with real meaning.
With church attendance on the wane, I pray that they don't reduce the few meaningful holidays that remain to yet another excuse to congregate and overindulge.
LiveFreeOrDie| 3.18.12 @ 9:52PM
Indifference, compared with the hate-filled reaction a republican group would have garnered, should be concerning. Wasn't there a poll where Ron Paul fairs better than the other candidates against Obama? Just saying!

" LAKE JACKSON, Texas, Mar 14, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul polls better against President Barack Obama in a head-to-head matchup than both of his Mitt Romney-alternative rivals, according to a recent Bloomberg News national poll.
The Bloomberg finding follows a recent Rasmussen survey showing Paul to be the most competitive Romney alternative, and a recent PPP survey of Pennsylvania voters that reveals Paul to be stronger in a head-to-head matchup with Obama than Romney or Newt Gingrich.
The Bloomberg national poll found that Ron Paul would receive 43 percent of the vote to President Obama's 48 percent in a head-to-head matchup. Paul's outcome in that scenario is significantly better than Rick Santorum's 6 percentage point loss, and far better than Gingrich's 11-point defeat if the election were held today. A strong 48 percent those polled responded that Paul and Gingrich should remain in the race, further evidence that the race for the Republican nomination is far from over in the minds of voters. "

Dr. Earmarks is one of the biggest frauds ever to hold a seat in the House.
Freedomist | 3.19.12 @ 4:26PM
Paul was faced with the same dilemma that all spending critics face. I will vote against my own earmark requests, but why should my district be denied the money my district pays in taxes that other districts would get if their earmarks pass despite my opposition? Its like a theft victim not reclaiming his recovered stolen property. I suppose the only truly ethical earmark would be to return tax money directly to a district's taxpayers.
Tom| 3.19.12 @ 7:16PM
GARBAGE!!!!
What Dr. Earmarks did was say to his colleagues; It is totally unConstitutional for you to steal that money. But since you did, I demand my rightful share of the loot.
And what makes this fraudster even more reprehensible is his practice of getting his earmarks, voting against the final bills, and then proclaiming, "I never voted for an earmark!"
His hypocrisy on the matter is sickening, but it is what to be expected from a libertine.

Ron Paul in my view is actually a renegade Politician who does not fit neatly in either Party--but he is closer in some ways to the Obama policies certainly in national security ( or lack of ) and Foreign policy. He has not been big on criticizing Obama ( I said big ) . He will support Romney because Romney is closer to Obama than the other two nominees. In any event I wonder if the Ron Paul supporters would vote against Obama or is it that they really will either not vote or actually support Obama. I wonder which it is ?
Bob Grant| 3.19.12 @ 11:21AM
This election will be a very simple proposition. Each and every voting-eligible citizens' action (or inaction) will be a referendum on obama. That is, a referendum on socialism.
It will not be about feuds within the republican party or between conservatives and libertarians.
The bottom line is if you stay home and pout about your guy/gal no being the nominee, You've in effect voted for obama AND HIS POLICIES and you will be as much to blame for the downfall of this country as the person who pulled the lever for him in the voting booth.
Rich Birkett | 3.19.12 @ 4:03PM
At least libertarians have an alternative to voting for whoever the Republican nominee is. What alternatives do conservatives have? The Constitution Party?
Red Phillips | 3.19.12 @ 5:28PM
Rich, the Constitution Party is the clear alternative for conservatives, but unlike so many of the interventionist mainstreamers here, the Constitution Party understands the nature of true conservatism and is thus non-interventionist. This is why Chuck Baldwin beat out the interventionist Alan Keyes for the nomination in 2008. If you're an interventionist you're stuck with the GOP no matter what sorry candidate they put forth.
Tom| 3.19.12 @ 4:40PM

Ron Paul thinks American is evil, like Obama, but worse. What I can't take is how his detractors think he is at least honest, when he fusdges his answers on constitutional issues and hides his true opinions.
Oh, and he attacked Reagan.
Rich Birkett | 3.19.12 @ 4:00PM
Paul's attitude is the same as mine: I love my country but fear its government. And Paul has a far better understanding than all the rest of the presidential candidates, save Gary Johnson.
Seek| 3.19.12 @ 2:19PM
On a scale from 1 to 10, with "1" meaning "no chance" and "10" meaning "a sure thing," how would people here rate Ron Paul's chances of winning the GOP presidential nomination?
Rich Birkett | 3.19.12 @ 3:58PM
And this is news because? Or did Goldstein just want to express his "indifference" towards Ron Paul?
