George Will has a great column out today on what is a crucial local issue where I am in Alabama, along with a big issue in South Carolina, and growing nationwide: The nationalization of education curriculum, and its dangers. Another fine column on the subject ran in the Wash Times earlier this week. Both are well worth a read.

George Will and fight don't go together. Only recently he said the GOP should give up on beating Obama.

Oldefarte| 3.9.12 @ 8:04PM

We'll give up in December after we've sent him back to the streets of Chicago so he can continue his career as a community organizing Acorn ambulance chaser!!!!!!!!

He should up residence outside of the United States. He can go to France, the Middle East, maybe even join Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.

Because Will knows the more you fight Obama, the greater the margin of his victory next November,
And it is a good thing, otherwise you'll spin your wheels for eight years with Romney.

Alan Brooks| 3.9.12 @ 9:02PM

... Yes I think if Romney is elected, he will be re-elected as Bush was.

JJ| 3.10.12 @ 12:40PM

Romney? get a life.

Alan Brooks| 3.10.12 @ 9:49PM

Romney is the best you can do.
But, i t's YOUR life, I'm voting for Obama.

Another good reminder what a disaster No Child Left Behind and the liberal Republicans like Santorum who supported the Kennedy plan was politically (and financially and morally.)

Just shut down the Department of Education already.

JJ| 3.10.12 @ 12:41PM

Just think of all the union jobs we could eliminate just by eliminating government education. They would quickly be replaced by real teachers who actually would work with parents in the best interest of the kids. Time to end the public school.

Ahem, an the only presidential candidate that is running on abolishing the unconstitutional the federal Dept. of Education? Hint, it ain't Rick, Quin.

Moose| 3.10.12 @ 6:12AM

Will's column is excellent and everyone should be up in arms against the creep of federal lawlessness. But, as W. himself notes, the federalization of education, which he uses here to illustrate this march to tyranny, is old stuff -- the No Child Left Behind racquet which has been hoisted upon teachers, children, and taxpayers since the Bush administration is nowt but the continuation of federal intrusion that began in 1965 with the not so Great Society school programs.
So if we haven't figured it out by now, when will we? Quin, I admonish you, as a gentleman and southerner, to stay where you are -- yes, sir, stay in Alabama -- and fight. Fight for our rights among people who still can. You won't find them in the swamps of Washington, D.C.

JJ| 3.10.12 @ 12:43PM

No Child Left Behind really means No Child Gets Ahead. It dummies down education to the lowest common denominator. It is a way for the dummies to control learning.

Quin| 3.10.12 @ 7:17PM

I am fighting here. There are big races on Tuesday for the state board of education in Alabama. If two seats switch from pro-Common Core to anti-, then Alabama will withdraw from Common Core. I've been raising the banner on this one locally.
By the way, Rick Santorum spoke out strongly on Thursday night against the federal hijacking of education via Common Core.

martin j smith| 3.11.12 @ 8:33AM

But does George Will want Obama defeated ? That is the real question.

aware| 3.12.12 @ 6:16AM

Hey Quin, I think you should find out what Newt has to say since he voted to create the Dept. of Education. Or your favorite fraud, Scamtorum, since he voted to expand it with No Child Left Behind.

I can just see either of them, along with Goldman Stooge Romney, kicking the Federal "government" out of the re-education/indoctrination business. Well, if I drop acid I can.
