Well, this is very interesting. Peyton Manning is meeting with the Denver Broncos.

Manning, who was released by the Indianapolis Colts earlier this week, is being sought after by a number of NFL teams including the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals. But this is the first time the Broncos have been entered the equation.

Frankly, I think the Broncos are a long shot. Nevertheless, if Manning decides to head to the Rocky Mountains where does that leave Tim Tebow? Less than two months ago, John Elway said that Tebow was the starting quarterback going into Broncos training camp next summer. Clearly, Elway is having second thoughts.

I think there will be a big backlash against the Broncos if they sign Manning. Some of it will be against Elway who has long been perceived not to be a fan of Tebow’s style of play and for being two faced. Some of it will be perceived as being about Tebow’s faith. Although Manning has shown exemplary conduct off the field throughout his career, he would also be cast as the bad guy. Here’s Tebow guiding his team to the playoffs against all odds and then gets kicked to the curb for a quarterback who hasn’t played in a year, has a serious problem with his neck and might not have anything left in the tank. Then again, Manning could guide them to a Super Bowl victory and all would be forgiven.

My guess is that Manning will end up in Miami with New York and Kansas City a close second and third.

One rumor is that Denver would then trade Tebow to Jacksonville which is reportedly very eager to get him because they know he will put butts in seat, something that has been a problem for Jacksonville.

He'll definitely be getting Gainesville fans in the seats. Gainesville fans fill the football stadium for the annual Florida-Georgia game in Jacksonville. Tebow is still very popular at UF. Getting Tebow in Jacksonville will get UF fans going to see Tebow on Sundays, especially given the slide of the football program at UF in the past couple of years.

Although the Dolphins are a great possibility with pretty good receivers, Reggie Bush at back, and Jake Long to protect the blind side, Arizona might make sense with their outstanding receivers and Jamesesque lead back, Wells. Kolb would have to be dropped. As for the Chiefs and the Jets, both would have to drop or trade their quarterbacks. Of course, the Redskins could be suckered to take Sanchez off the Jets' hands, especially if they fail to land Griffin in the draft. Having Rex Grossman as the starting quarterback next year would ignite a fan revolt in Washington. New York would be a Manning circus act if both played in the Big Apple. Perhaps Manning would help the Jets get over the hump and into the Super Bowl. Sanchez if often underwhelming.

Teebow is NOT stupid! A good quarterback coach on the off season...and he is a premier NFL quarterback.
Elway is stupid to even consider throwing Teebow away. The whole damed country tunes in to root for him......that's gazillions of TV money $$$

Why would anyone want Tebow? He didn't even complete 50% of his passes.
Teblow reminds me of Santy. A fraud.

That's pretty rich -- a guy named Nicholas making fun of St. Nicholas, his namesake. Irony, thy name is Nick.

P.S. Name calling only makes you tinier, and trying to tear down a guy who is the real deal reveals you as the real fraud.

Hey---the Bears would take him.

As a Chief's fan since the move from Dallas to Kansas City I can only hope that we are smart enough to say thanks but no thanks to any idea Peyton has of coming to KC. We have already been down this road, Warren Moon, Joe Montana, etc; and have absolutely nothing to show for it. One has to wonder what is in the drinking water in KC. We have suffered through 20 years of no name or no game QB's and it has to stop. My guess is Peyton is looking for a domed stadium or a tropical climate. Neither of which he will find in KC. Good luck, Peyton, anywhere but KC.

He's one pop to his neck away from ending his career, or worse.

What happens when he gets blind sided from the back and his head and neck goes the opposite direction of the rest of his body....really, really fast?

He ought to just call it a career and thank his lucky stars he can still remember his name, take slightly less as a coach or future GM, or become a football pundit. If it's one thing the NFL needs more of is ex-players in expensive suits, with perfectly quaffed facial hair, and an expensive pen strategically placed in hand talking about (a) things we really don't care about or (b) things we already know.

Seriously, he should enter his new phase in life as the face of the NFL. The NFL desperately needs him as the NFL rep.

Good luck to him regardless.

Could ANYONE replace that guy in the oval office................PLEASE????????

The election is not until November. Anyone coming up with a serious plan before that not involved with electoral vote counting gets a visit fron the Secret Service,

...though some other English speakers would write "from" instead of"from".

Nick| 3.10.12 @ 8:48PM

Tebow can't throw. Can't read defenses. Elway knows this.

Bob K.| 3.10.12 @ 9:38PM

Do you think Elway will let Manning call the plays out of a hurry up offense? I'll bet Tebow could learn that kind of offense pretty quick with a mentor like Manning.

Richard Baker| 3.11.12 @ 8:12AM

Elway is very offended by Tebow's open thanking of God. I believe that is why Manning is being considered. Manning has been a star but now he's older and less athletic than before. With his various recent health problems he may not be durable enough to be the starter and he wants to be the leader in this with a leaders salary. Also, a year away from the field can't be a help in all this. Maybe, he's had his day and retiring may be the best option.

Bob| 3.11.12 @ 10:27AM

Genius move, displacing the quarterback that finally got your team back in the playoffs after six years for an old, battered quarterback who might do even worse in the Denver air.

Nick| 3.11.12 @ 11:13AM

Tebow had a game where he threw 8 passes. 8 passes. They couldn't do anything with him. He can have a role on a team, maybe short yardage stuff like he did as a freshman at Florida. Not as an NFL qb.
