Bill Burton, the head of the Obama Super PAC - Priorities USA
Action
won’t return Bill Maher’s $1 million donation.
Quel surprise.
During an interview with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC today, Burton
acknowledged Maher’s past comments were “vulgar”, “inappropriate”
but apparently Maher’s language isn’t so vulgar and inappropriate
when a $1 million is involved.
Burton went on to say:
The notion that there is an equivalence between what a comedian
has said over the course of his career and what the de facto leader
of the Party said to sexually degrade a woman who engaged in an
important debate of our time is crazy.
No, it isn’t crazy at all. What is apparent here is that while
Burton thinks it’s out of bounds for a Republican or a conservative
to sexually degrade any woman who supports the Obama agenda, he’s
perfectly fine with a Democrat or a liberal who sees fit to
sexually degrade any woman who opposes the Obama agenda. If Burton
had an ounce of decency, he would return Maher’s money immediately
and without hesitation. Then again when I think of Bill Burton,
decency is not the first thing which comes to mind.
Well, as long as Bill Burton is fine with Bill Maher’s money
then so is President Obama. Yes, Obama 2012 and Priorities USA
aren’t officially connected but let’s tell it like it is. Bill
Burton was President Obama’s Deputy Press Secretary. They aren’t
exactly strangers. They are acting in common cause. Priorities USA
Action’s money is President Obama’s money
So if President Obama wants to keep Maher’s money then he
has to keep everything that comes with it. Obama gets to keep
Maher’s vulgarity; Obama gets to keep Maher’s
inappropriateness, and Obama gets to keep Maher’s praise
for the bravery of the 9/11 hijackers while condemning our military
as cowardly. President Obama and Bill Maher deserve each other.
