Kirsten Powers fascinates me. Sometimes she seems to independent
of thought, and sometimes she comes across like a left-wing
hit-person. Sometimes she makes a center-left case that really
makes me think, and sometimes she sounds like a shrill Kool-Aid
drinker.
When the issue was the Obama administration’s outrageous
dismissal of the voter-intimidation cases against elements of the
New Black Panther Party, Powers cheap-shotted those of us who were
interested in the issue by saying we were just trying to demagogue
(or race-bait) the image of a “scary black man.” With my background
fighting racism, I resented it like hell.
But now she does a fantastic job gathering all the evidence of
leftist misogyny in the political realm, as a way to
show how overblown is the media flutter-nutting about Rush
Limbaugh’s “slut” comments.
PLEASE read Powers’ piece. It’s terrific.
One thing you can always say about her is that she thinks for
herself.

Good stuff.
You know what they say: even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Wencil| 3.4.12 @ 11:15PM
Fluke is what Rush she was. He shouldn't have said it,but it's true.

I think you're in love, Hilyer.

She is one of Fox Network's democrat "Info Babes," to use a phrase coined by the famous Republican misogynist, Rush Limbaugh. Fox needs people like her to prove they are "fair and balanced." They have to do that to keep the President from siccing the FCC on them and taking away their license to use the Government's (not the people's-mind you) air waves! Everybody is scared of this President. Have you noticed how many local Radio Stations are hiring liberal talk show hosts nobody listens to?
The democrat misogynists named above have neither the wit nor the humor to come up with anything memorable save for Chris Mathew's reporting on the tingle down the legs he gets when he sees Obama!
But she is destined for bigger and better things. She is from Alaska and I hear that Obama is considering her for his VP running mate.
That probably explains your "fascination" with her, Mr. Hillyer.

Except that she has the temerity to call for a boycott. That is a typical collectivist response. Not that of an individual ( who should choose their own path).
She's a twit.

Interesting article suggestion, Quin. Too bad our side did not use this as an opportunity to point out exactly what she illustrated and expose the ugly, hypocritical double standard that they have layed unto the right that many on our side have accepted and some have cooperated with and supported.
It is really too bad that some so-called conservatives actually helped support the narrative and the attack on Rush and assisted in the obvious political distraction that this was meant to be from the beginning she was brought out to testify.
It is really disgusting that some sought to shame him for shaming her ridiculous and absurd positions and shameful public statements on this subject.
The real amazing aspect of all of this week is the untimely and sad parting of a man who taught us not to back down, apologize, roll over, and accept this double standard, nor the political correctness that they use to control us, demean us, and destroy us with...
A man who was willing to call them thugs, rapist, filthy, obstructionist, and bullys when they bullied, raped, obstructed, thugged, and trashed on our streets.
Hey, watch it dude, your better half might not appreciate you making statements about being fascinated with a woman on a major web magazine! Just kidding, that was a joke. Do not force me to make an apology. Joke again.
beebop2| 3.5.12 @ 5:29AM
But we can't say it for fear of upsetting the independents and we can't defend Rush for the same reason we should be using (exclusively in my opinion) to battle the ridiculous birth control fiat: FIRST AMENDMENT!

Apparently, many Americans are starting to see the double standard and backlash the feminist agendist crybabies and their manipulation of the media, culture and society.

Kirsten Powers went out with Anthony Weiner for three months. Knowing what we know now about former Congressman Weiner one would have to wonder what she knew about that long before it happened. I'll leave it at that. I've learned from Rush's experience.
In post-modern America you can't say anything negative about women. In their quest for allegedly being treated equal, they have become super citizens, overly protected in the workplace, in the education system and most importantly, in the public arena.
beebop2| 3.5.12 @ 5:30AM
Only DEMOCRAT women ....
betwyan| 3.5.12 @ 6:49AM
I dunno, most of the time I've heard her analysis and it sounds like what a 9th grader would say.
Fox News is a joke these days, just one more left of center, MSM "show", full of babes with too much make-up, short skirts, perfectly set hair, high heels, etc.
They've gotten rid of Beck and Judge Napolitano. Occaisonally Hannity will do something hard-hitting but not often enough.
It's meaningless drivel.
Pecos Pete| 3.5.12 @ 7:35AM
betwyan: "It's meaningless drivel." Exactly!
Almost all of TV is meaningless drivel. People pay good money for a cable connection and receive meaningless drivel. It is called dumbing down America. You have to be dumb to pay to watch the crap. I understand that some people are bed-ridden and use TV as a form of entertainment, but otherwise a good book, music CD and the great outdoors provides ample opportunity for entertainment.
In many ways, paying for cable TV will become a moot point when people have to choose between ... gas for their car, food for their table, electricity for their home ... and cable TV.
Me thinks that cable TV is in for some tough times.
betwyan| 3.5.12 @ 7:59AM
Agreed. More and more, I've suggested to my wife, we should cancel cable tv. It's so trashy, so meaningless, so junior high school.
solidground| 3.5.12 @ 7:44AM
I might agree with Powers that it was not appropriate for Limbaugh to tar Fluke as a "slut," had not the woman's own words in fact incriminated her as such. And the fact that the apparently over-sexed little twit (oh, is that mosgyenistic?) actually had the temerity to demand free contraception for her sexcapades basically indicts her as a total tart, and likely exactly what Limbaugh called her. Let's get a sense of balance here. The cover story was "women's health." The real story was, "We want everything for free with no consequences attached." Any so-called conservative who flounces around trying to excuse this kind of destructive thinking is very seriously misguided.
jppc| 3.5.12 @ 8:02AM
Look, to all of the "delicates" out there, Rush was making a half serious, half joking analogy. He was using a rhetorical device, posing the question, "what do you call a woman who expects other people's money to engage in sex? A prostitute, a slut."
Ya can't see that people? Come on.
Mike 3/505| 3.5.12 @ 8:10AM
conservatives need to quit using the left's terminology. "Misogynist" = Man who doesn't lay down for feminazi propaganda. Liberals use it to give the lie a greater authority. if you wish to say, "anti woman," then say, "anti woman."
Drek| 3.5.12 @ 10:07AM
So Hillyer has a thing for Kristin Powers...........
Oldefarte| 3.5.12 @ 2:35PM
What she says here is accurate and typical of radicals [aka liberals and Democrats, who never apologize] but her image to me is that of a female who once dated Anthony Weiner......NUFF SAID IMHO!!!!!!!!!!

My impression of Ms Powers in this instance matches yours. But watching her on FoxNews these past hours has given me the impression Ms Powers is being educated by the handful of reasonable and somewhat objective folk at Fox.
Still cannot trust the so-far self-and-own-culture loathing tending-misandrist product (according to Ms Powers) of a feminist mother.
But if she keeps up today's effort she will certainly be welcomed, by me, to the Truth Seekers Side.
