I found it interesting that Sandra Fluke should choose to make an appearance on Ed Schultz’s show on MSNBC. Fluke is the Georgetown Law Student who testified in front of a Democratic congressional committee concerning the HHS mandate of contraceptives. Her testimony prompted Rush Limbaugh to call her, amongst other things, “a slut.”

While one might disagree with Ms. Fluke’s support for taxpayer subsidized contraceptives, Rush isn’t doing himself any favors here. First, he demeans himself by using such unsavory language. Second, he has an elevated an obscure law student into a national celebrity who will now probably command a six-figure income at either a prestigious law firm or at a liberal advocacy group. Third, he has stooped to Ed Schultz’s level.

Which brings me back to Mr. Schultz who praised Fluke for being “very brave” and lamented that it was “unfortunate a college student has to put up with this.” But in May 2011, it was the same Mr. Schultz who referred to conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham as “a right-wing slut” and “a talk slut.” MSNBC did suspend Schultz for a week of unpaid leave as a result and he did later apologize to Ingraham.

It is worth noting that Ms. Fluke told Schultz that Limbaugh’s remarks were “outside the bounds of civil discourse” and I would agree with her. Yet it begs thee questions. Does Ms. Fluke believe that Schultz’s remarks about Ingraham were also outside the bounds of civil discourse? Or do these standards not apply to conservative talk show hosts?

Insurance is supposed to distribute rare events among many to make it easier to afford said events. If 50% of the population require it, it ain't insurance. Its welfare. Therefore, let The Won start a birth control program where he will spend some more money that has not been allocated to him by congress, and women can get the cheapest generic (which is exactly the same as the $80/month stuff, but doesn't have the cool packaging).

She is not being perceived or presented as making a fool of herself; the narrative they are creating is that she is a maverick, her parents should be so proud, and she is sticking up for women and fighting those women hating Republicans. This narrative was well established before Rush ever opened his mouth. Not challeging this is sure folly and foolish. They were changing the subject well before Rush attempted to challenge that subject and get it on a more accurate and truthful ground.

Not that it was noted ANYWHERE by the apparent nest of misogynists in the comment section, but birth control pills are, as my wife, sister, and several cousins, including two in college can attest, not always used for contraception alone. She is probably enrolled in the student health plan offered by Gerogetown which plan does not provide coverage for her birth control pills. She could stay on her parents' plan. The premium of the Georgetown plan is comparable to her parents keeping her on their policy. I know this because I compared the cost of the college plan witht the cost to keep my children on my plan and it was the same to keep them on my plan.
If she does not want her parents' plan she could obtain an individual plan suited to her needs.
She did not say she is taking the pills for health reasons, but only for the contraception.

I would think by now that was a question long ago answered and a double standard well established.

The issue here is not whether someone uses salty language to describe someone and their behavior, it is whether it is accurate, a fair description, and appropriate. It is also a fact that Rush and conservatives rarely engage in the using such explicit language. On the other hand, the Left has made it into a new art form, Palin being their masterpiece.

The issue here is whether we are going to accept the double standard and play by their rules and their control over our speech and expression and at the same time demand us to overlook theirs.

What Mr. Goldstein fails to understand is that Rush's happy warrior approach is EXACTLY what is needed, and if the rest of the "Right" had just 10% of his morale, energy, combativeness and wit, the Left wd have been extinct long ago.

"David Kahane's" recent book on radical conservatives shd be required reading for Mr. G, and all Americans, as it lays out in simple and inarguable language the long-term plan of the Left.

We've been PLAYED for ~100 years. Our problem is NOT rooted in, or even exacerbated by a little salty language from a towering radio figure, but rather is the logical result of this filthy, evil Progressive plan.

PCOS cannot be cured by the pill. It is only given out if a woman does nt want to be pregnant while having sex and has PCOS . In fact, the pill isn’t the only treatment for PCOS. TO REPEAT: contraception is prescribed as a treatment for PCOS only when a woman also wants to contracept.
