The Maryland legislature has passed and Gov. Martin O’Malley has signed a bill defining marriage to include same-sex couples. The legislation will take effect in January 2013 unless a proposed November referendum question overturns it. If the law remains intact, Maryland will become the eighth state with same-sex marriage.

The legislative vote was close. The bill passed the state senate 25 to 22 and the house of delegates 72 to 67. Organizations already mobilizing to challenge the law this fall.

And if it is overturned by referendrum, the courts will make sure that it stands. We are in deep (crap). Read some history.

Now Lindsey Graham can finally marry Dave Dreier.

Gee, I am shocked, Maryland? Oh I guess it is inevitable. Oh wait, was that not California that had a proposition against it pass by a majority?

No problem, the radically controlled courts will tell the people where to go, no worry!

See the people of the United States do not detremine the laws, the culture, or its values, the minority elitist do. They know what is better for us and how we should live, eat, think, and act.

Our values, wants, and opinions mean less than nothing and should not even be aired. Our progressive leaders and our progressive liberal neighbors sometime ago were given complete authority and dictate over this area.

Gee, they are working on some new ideas right now as we piss and moan about it quietly.
Two very smart and progressive ethicist at university are developing a very smart rationale for terminating or aborting infants, yes, after their born. What more interesting and dynamic things to look forward to...what will they come up with next?

Oh, that is right, the guy that is suing for bestiality to be legalized in Canada. I almost forgot.

Well, you liberals need to open those wallets and get going and send the ACLU up there and make its so. We got to keep that goverment out of people's bedrooms and protect those human rights. And don't forget to include tax payer funded contraception for the sex acts with the animals. We conservatives do not want to be charged with hating animals do we? Of course, if we ever think we could win another election those darn social issues need to stay far away from us as possible!

I was thinking while we are at it, maybe we should really get the tax payer to fund these sex change operations as well. Hell, we could start setting up clinics in schools and get it done at the earliest stage as possible. Of course, we will not be able to tolerate those religious scolds and those parents objections, well we will just overrule them. You can always find a judge around the corner that understands our burning intentions and just how much we care about people.

Many of those voting for this bill (as if this is something that legislators can legislate to a people) are Catholics in good stead with the Roman Catholic Church.

As we have learned this week at TAS.

Who signed it into law? A clue for you. His initials: MO A Catholic.

So where is this Holy Roman Church? Leading the nation to Hell. (plenty of false faith others aiding and abetting)

kingsmill| 3.1.12 @ 7:16PM

The hierarchy of the RCC has been derelict in allowing cafeteria, pick and choose catholyc individuals and institutions to define themselves as "Roman Catholic". Today's vote in the Senate on the Blunt amendment was supportted by a bakers dozen or more catholycs.

DH| 3.1.12 @ 7:47PM

I hope it is not lost on the Roman Catholic faithful that Maryland was the New World America's Catholic colony.

There ought to be some extra anguish then today over this Annapolis atrocious decision.

As a weekly communicant of the Roman Catholic church, I can only say that the cowardice of the Roman Catholic hierarchy, from the Popes on down to the Archbishops of Baltimore, has allowed moral delinquents like Martin O'Malley, his wife Katie and O'Malley's Father-in-law and Katie's father, Joseph Curran, to thumb their noses at the church and Western Civilization and get little more than slaps on the wrists for doing so. Excommunication not only of the O'Malley-Curran gang is in order, excommunication of those who vote for any of these foul creatures should be in order.

O'Malley has chosen to spit in the face of God in order to run for president. And the Archbishop of Baltimore is nowhere to be seen or heard.

At least it involved elective representatives. Once the state who elected Spiro Agnew gets back to reality, that perversity can be banned again. Temporary political hacks are not match for human nature.

So does this law comes with incest laws and if so why?

Did the previous heterosexual-only marriage law in MD have consanguinity limitations? If so, why?

howeecarr| 3.2.12 @ 11:21AM

At least it was passed by the people's elected representatives, not foisted upon them by an unelected and unaccountable judiciary.

Marriage is a conservative value. Taxpayers deserve equal treatment. Maryland extended a conservative value to its gay taxpayers. The couples already existed, and through many a legal contortion and civil contract the state already recognized the gay couples as couples. And this is a problem? How? Will any heterosexuals get divorced because the gay couple down the block they don't even know got married? Seems they get divorced regardless of whether gay marriage is recognized. Will heterosexuals stop getting married all of a sudden because gays can do it? Will heteros stop having babies because gays are married? Indeed, how, logically, does gay marriage "attack" or in anyway impinge on what heterosexuals do? Yes, you don't like the "sex" -- well, near as I can figure, there's a lot more to marriage than sex, right? Or do you truly believe that we gay folks are going to find the gal of your dreams and not be gay anymore? Do you truly believe it is that ephemeral to our being? Egad, you ain't listening then.

Are heterosexuals so unsure of your sexuality that you will all of a sudden drop what you're doing and go find yourselves a gay bar and a future husband? We gay folks are so damn positive of our sexuality that we've been screaming for equality for decades -- and not so weirdly, the numbers of gays has not gone up. It's the same tiny percentage in Maryland yesterday as today, and tomorrow. The percentage is a static natural result of something or other no one can define or has a clue about -- ask a dozen people get a dozen answers, many at complete contradiction to each other. Which is true? No one knows. But we gays just know only we are, and no one changes, chooses, or joins gayness, nor ever gets rid of it either.

Nor is this just happening in America. It's happening all over the world. I got to laugh at the Occupy movement, for instance, with its calls for worldwide protests -- well, I do declare, gay folks have now staged political protests to get some decency towards us, (no, not make anyone gay, you're born gay, or you are not,) in over 150 countries, for 40 years now. We are the largest uncoordinated mass political movement since the dawn of time. Since the 1950s legal recognition of our couples has been a demand of ours, for it makes lives easier, when the law is automatic, and we don't have to spend extra money to jump through legal hoops, and still have the couples recognized, often under commercial law, bizarrely as "partnerships." Well, ain't marriage a partnership? Yes it is.

And still, somehow, heterosexuals are panic stricken that everyone will turn gay if a nice word is said about us while we're alive, never mind after we're dead (see Breitbart coverage here.) But truly, are you heteros that unsure of yourselves? This is something we gay folks can't grasp, we really can't. Meanwhile, the nation is going bonkers and socialist, and Republicans and Conservatives need every vote you can get -- and I know where there's a potential few millions -- gay Americans. Egad, get a grip. Stop worry about sissy smooching.

It will be interesting to see how the offspring(Heh!) of these perverted imitations of matrimony run our Republic.

Your Inner Voice| 3.2.12 @ 11:58AM

I guess the 55 million dead babies (and counting) from abortion, and the soon-to-be offspring of the joining of opposable parts in [un] holy wedlock will keep our entitlement programs afloat real well...

Bill| 3.2.12 @ 12:06PM

Martin O'Malley is a gay. Guess what! He's vying for the 2016 presidential race as a Democrat! It ain't gonna happen in our lifetime.
