Gingrich just took the good Doctor to task for pretending that insane tyrants in a quest to obtain nuclear weapons should just be ignored.

Gas will go to 20 dolars a gal. if the lunatics lie us into another war in the Middle East. Iran is not and never has been any threat to the USA. The chairman of the joint Chiefs of staff has just said so. Let Israel fight it's own wars. Israel and its' apartheid state are not worth one drop of American blood or one American dollar. The active military want no more wars in the Middle East. They are backing Ron Paul with most of their campaign contributions. There was a large rally for Ron among military people in Washington this week. Of course it was ignored by the neocon press except for Drudge who may or may not be a neocon.
Nock| 2.23.12 @ 9:39AM
You're right Goldstein. There will be no draft when we invade Iran, so you and your family will be safe. Only the poor will have to fight your religious wars of Crusading Democratism for you.
LarryK| 2.22.12 @ 9:36PM
$50 bucks says the draft returns before the year 2020.
Any Takers?
albert constantine jr.| 2.22.12 @ 9:41PM
I'll bet you a gallon of gas, which we likely cost more than that then.
albert constantine jr.| 2.22.12 @ 9:42PM
that is, WILL likely cost more than that then.
Quartermaster| 2.22.12 @ 9:51PM
I think you are right. People like me are advising young men to stay away from the military because of the PC and diversity corrosion. The GOFOs have become as much a problem as the hippies of the 60s.
Floyd Looney| 2.22.12 @ 10:17PM
Obama might draft for his Civilian Army, someone has to run those concentration, I mean reeducation camps that conservatives will be thrown into by the new Cheka!
Nock| 2.23.12 @ 9:42AM
So if America is a totalitarian communist state, why are we trying to spread that cancer to Iraq and Afghanistan? Can't answer that you NeoCons?
Paglia guy| 2.22.12 @ 10:24PM
Democrats will restore the draft if left in power, because real warriors will leave in droves. Ron Paul is a democrat in sheep's clothing.
WL| 2.22.12 @ 11:06PM
THANK THE LORD someone else sees it exactly the way I do...
Not only is he a democrat...but he actively seeks to insert pure confusion into the debates..AND everwhere else.
He is a pure FRAUD.
Nock| 2.23.12 @ 9:43AM
Why keep borrowing untold billions from Communist China, putting America’s children eternally in debt, to pursue a policy in the Arab world that has made this once-admired nation thoroughly detested across the Arab world?
9thID| 2.23.12 @ 10:24AM
On the bright side, a draft will also mean that most of Tehran Ron's acolytes who are under 35 will run for Canada or France just like their libertine cousins did during Nam...
RJ| 2.22.12 @ 10:52PM
In a way, the modern socialist state drafts us all to serve their desires rather than live as we wish, so we are increasingly living a life-long draft, but not a military draft. I agree that a military draft will not reappear in American society on our time horizon
One of the depressing things I heard last year from an Army Reserve Recruiting team is that only about 23% of their national recruiting demographic is qualified to be considered for entry in the Reserve as a buck private. The 3 categories that they look at are: 1) teachability; 2) physical fitness, which they can work on; and 3) the candidate not exceeding a certain level of criminal record. One of the comments that they made, which I have no reason to doubt, is that I cannot imagine what is going on these days in high school. I fear for the future of America.
WL| 2.22.12 @ 11:13PM
That's the goal RJ...the left is destroying the PRIDE of the military, while it exploits anybody (Ie. Seal team six) who's mention might help their hold on power...
It's amazing how this Administration ran their mouths...and I have no doubt that they got part of Seal Team Six killed in that shnook by compromising their cover as they politicized the operation to get bin laden...and NOW, they are out with a movie with real Seals....
I feel like the Defense Department is dealing with much more of this than they should...
No matter whether you agree with me or not though on the specifics...you are correct...
There is much to worry about.
RJ| 2.22.12 @ 11:32PM
Hi WL,
There is an e-mail making the rounds which sets forth the contrasting statements of George W Bush in congratulating the military for the bin Laden raid and Barak Obama's amazingly narcistic statement about his detailed "leadership."
Secondly, the publicity which the Obama administration focused on the raid, and as quickly as it did, gave the enemy information which we could have withheld from them for our future benefit. But nothing seems to get in the way of Obama demanding the lights of center stage, even when others were the ones who put their lives on the line. I can't stand it.
RJ| 2.23.12 @ 12:20AM
Another thought - Have you ever seen the Clark Gable movie, "Command Decision"? It is about the 8th Air Force during WWII. In one scene, the nephew of a pompous Congressman, who is visiting the base, is being awarded a medal when news comes that the lead pilot's plane has been shot-down. The Congressman is clueless and starts popping off. At this point, his nephew tells him to be quiet and says "some people have to do more than just talk." Obama is worse than the fictional congressman, because he knows what he is doing; he just has no regard for others.
WL| 2.23.12 @ 12:38AM
Now that you mention it...it really is amazing to sit back and wonder what it must be like to be that type of person...
It seems like every movie..or office...or schoolyard...or classroom..or any other type of organization...has at least one of those people who manage to be in charge and/or in positions of power...I have long thought that the blind arrogance they display literally confuses people (who are not perceptive enough to see it for what it really is) into taking it as honest confidence. Electing this fraud of a man is one of the worst mistakes that I would have imagined the American people to ever make. If we elect him again...there won't be anything left of the military in terms of the near magical power it has possessed in the last bunch of years...
And when that goes...that's when the vultures will circle...
Andrew P| 2.22.12 @ 11:30PM
Of course Paul is right. Our all volunteer force is very potent, but also very expensive. With budget cuts in coming years, the only way to fight a war is with a draft. And there will be more wars. Count on it.
Bob K.| 2.23.12 @ 12:45AM
You will have to wait until there is a generation which does not remember how Kennedy/Johnson and their "Best and Brightest" totally screwed up the last draft!
Bob K.| 2.23.12 @ 12:50AM
And by then about 30% of our population will be Latino. Count on that too! I wonder how a draft will sell with them?
winston | 2.23.12 @ 12:43AM
Ru Paul is crazy
Nock| 2.23.12 @ 9:44AM
Ron Paul is right. The lesson of history is that bankrupt states do not remain great imperial powers for long.
Tom| 2.23.12 @ 6:18AM
" Paul's analysis is simply not grounded in reality."
NOTHING that Dr. Nutjob prattles on about is "grounded in reality."
JimH| 2.23.12 @ 6:46AM
The modern military requires skilled committed professionals. Some European countries which had a draft for reasons of shared service are giving it up as more bother than it's worth. I would not be surprised to see some sort of compulsory civilian national service coming from either the left or right. Each side would of course have it's own reasons to justify it. This would also be a way of reducing the nominal unemployment rate
The Olde Man| 2.23.12 @ 9:55AM
Oh Good Grief! The military is actively recruiting homosexuals so that there will be the proper 'mix'. And crusty drill sergeants are being forced to wear weird getups to they can feel what it is like to be pregnant during basic training.
And you think the average 18yr old is going to enlist into that?
The Draft is coming, but not for the reasons that RP probably has. The man is uncanny for having the right answer for the wrong reasons.
9thID| 2.23.12 @ 10:35AM
Never forget that it was Tehran Ron who voted with other Liberals during the lame duck to force homosexuality upon our combat troops during a time of 2 wars. That was also against the advice of combat troops, commanders, chaplains, and veteran's groups. In following with his radical gay agenda, Ronbo also joined with Libs in calling the gay WikiLeaks traitor Bradley/Braina Manning a "patriot and hero"....
