Mitt Romney claimed he had balanced the budget during the 2002
Olympics.
I’m surprised Rick Santorum didn’t challenge him given that he
has pointed
out that Romney sought federal money to save the
games.
It was a missed opportunity for Santorum.
UPDATE: O.K., maybe not. But Santorum gave a
rather convoluted explanation of earmarks. Romney acknowledged
seeking federal money for the Olympics and said to Santorum, “While
I was saving the Olympics, you were saving the Bridge to Nowhere.”
This conversation isn’t helping Santorum at all.

I can't believe Santorum hasn't practiced honing his answers.
It was hardly from left field that he would be questioned on earmarks, and he knew he intended to defend his approach by explaining how the process worked.
I think he's getting hurt tonight.

Santorum got hurt, and got hurt bad.
That answer about taking one for the team, ----- that did not go over well.
The answer was accurate in a way, politics is a team sport, the party advances together, or not at all. But still, it sounded dreadful.
It's just another instance of what BEN SHAPIRO observed on Twitter, that he agreed with Santorum's positions, but the way he explains them is just awful.
God, he was really off tonight.
THE OTHER MCCAIN spent a column on the number of campaign appearances Santorum makes compared to the others. Perhaps some of those appearances should be shelved so that he can practice honing answers, preparing for subjects, and bringing himself up to speed on the positions of his main opponent.
Why is it that Romney consistently knows more about his opponents' record?
Santorum looked tonight like a guy who has spent too damn much time on the campaign trail.
Time management!
