What Michael Barone Said

Obama is awful. Conservatives need prudence to beat him. Read it. Now. Great stuff. (Hint: He quotes Tocqueville a lot.)

But whom will Prudence pick to be her running mate?

albert constantine jr| 2.20.12 @ 5:08PM

While it is good, well-intentioned and apt advice, Americans are not a particularly patient people, and these are even less patient times. Sometimes, on the slow march to victory, there needs to be a Doolittle Raid or some strategically insignificant morale booster to help bolster us for the long haul (fraught with much blood, banzai charges and kamikazes) ahead.

Well those Republicans need to start by NOT allowing the Democrats to brainwash them into being a party to the recent passage of the payroll tax reduction legislation. This did nothing but further gut the Social Security tax from 6% to 4% [after the SS fund has been robbed for decades]. Instead of taking 2% from SS, instead they should have lowered Medicaid, Aid to Dependent children, or HUD's housing allowances etc by 2%. Not one of these Republicans put up any fight for seniors, and instead compormised with the Democrats on this; and if seniors as a whole ever wise up to how SS was diluted by same, heaven halp these Republicans. Shame shame shame!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah...

It would be easier to believe that if the Republicans didn't sabotage, belittle, and lie to their base the whole rotten stinking time...

Part of me thinks that Barone and the Repubs have some merit to those arguements...

But after the last 10-15 years of their crap...

It sure is hard not to think that these types of arguements will be made all the time...and their will be just enough "moderates" to scuttle any attempt for real results..even when they are in the majority...

I'll vote this one last time for 'em...but I don't have high hopes either way...

Either they win...and we sit mad because we have been duped again..
or we lose...and none of it matters anyway..because the country's collective brain is fried...

Sorry, just programmed to watch the Repubs lose and riducule us on the way...so it's hard to expect to EVER win a real solid concrete visible...victory....with them at least.

Subterfuge. Prudence is another word for GOP Elite's "please, do not get rid of John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and Kevin McCarthy. We must be decent and respectful, and moderate" attitude. We do well no listening to that garbage. Elect conservatives. Vote those Rinos out of power, and confront Obama for what he is -- a marxist agitator with a desire for one man rule.

The people who live in the congressional districts where these gentlemen are from won't be paying attention to you, me, Quin or Barone. But if you feel better venting about it, that's fine too. I think that the economy is on their minds first and foremost, but let that go.

Barone was writing about Toqueville and how toqueville understood democracy, particularly Democracy in America and reminding us and our leadership that in the big scheme of things their impatience, your impatience, my impatience and his advice to his readers won't make much difference. Democratic changes are caused by forces largely beyond our control and it is best if they take place slowly so we can consider their consequences in a thoughtful manner.

Here is a great book about it: Democracy and Populism--Fear and Hatred." Published 2005-before anyone ever heard of Obama. By John Lukacs, one of the greatest historians of the 2nd half of the 20th Century.

Look, the Democrats' destructive policies are putting this country on a ruinous course. We may be at the point of no return, if not past it. We're talking not just economic collapse but a fall from a constitutional republic to a dictatorship, led by a party that's Democratic in name only. So what will the voices of Prudence have to say for themselves then?

This is another reason WHY .....IT'S THE DEMOCRATS, STUPIDS and why you must vote the straight Republican ticket in November:

'....FBI Director Robert Mueller testifies on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, April 15, 2010. Following various Islamist and militant Arabic groups, Mueller ordered FBI offices around the country to remove material on Islam that was deemed "offensive." According to sources, the radical groups made that determination. Photo Credit:AP It was just revealed two days ago that FBI Director Mueller secretly met on February 8 at FBI headquarters with a coalition of groups including various Islamist and militant Arabic groups who in the past have defended Hamas and Hizballah and have also issued blatantly anti-Semitic statements. At this meeting, the FBI revealed that it had removed more than 1000 presentations and curricula on Islam from FBI offices around the country that was deemed "offensive."The FBI did not reveal what criteria was used to determine why material was considered "offensive" but knowledgeable law enforcement sources have told the IPT that it was these radical groups who made that determination. Moreover, numerous FBI agents have confirmed that from now on, FBI headquarters has banned all FBI offices from inviting any counter-terrorist specialists who are considered "anti-Islam" by Muslim Brotherhood front groups. The February 8 FBI meeting was the culmination of a series of unpublicized directives issued in the last three months by top FBI officials to all its field offices to immediately recall and withdraw any presentation or curricula on Islam throughout the entire FBI. In fact, according to informed sources and undisclosed documents, the FBI directive was instigated by radical Muslim groups in the US who had repeatedly met with top officials of the Obama Administration to complain, among other things, that the mere usage of the term of "radical Islam" in FBI curricula was "offensive" and 'racist." And thus, directives went out by Attorney General Eric Holder and FBI Director Mueller to censor all such material. Included in the material destroyed or removed by the FBI and the DOJ were powerpoints and articles that defined jihad as "holy war" or presentations that portrayed the Muslim Brotherhood as an organization bent on taking over the world — a major tenant that the Muslim Brotherhood has publicly stated for decades.....'

Pardon me for wanting to hit the ground running. Our men and women are on a hot battlefield so that tends to cloud my "prudent" judgement when people tell me to simmer down, Mr. Barone. By all means, let us defer to the tyranny of the Brussels status quo and keep spending. Apologies if all this talk of a Third Party, domestically and in the U.K., is upsetting your ulcer, and us kids will be sure to stay off the grass.
