The FBI arrested Amine El Khalifi, a Muslim from Morocco here in
the United States illegally, for
attempting to detonate a suicide bomb at the U.S. Capitol in
Washington, D.C. He was detained a few blocks away from the
Capitol.
However, the device El Khalifi was carrying wasn’t real and his
arrest came in an undercover sting operation. He had been monitored
by the FBI for some time and had been apparently planning to bomb a
synagogue or launch an attack at a restaurant frequented by U.S.
military personnel before deciding to set his sights towards the
Capitol. El Khalifi had said he would have been happy to blow up
himself up and take 30 people with
him.
I have a feeling though that we will hear accusations of
entrapment on the part of the FBI as we have in other cases. It
will once again be a case of pity
the poor terrorist.
Sean| 2.17.12 @ 6:02PM
Let me guess the story. So the government identifies an illegal alien and instead of immediately deporting them they recruit the guy to commit a terrorist act. What the guy doesn't know is the islamic extremists he is in touch with are really government officials who supply him with a fake bomb. Deporting an illegal won't make any headlines, but capturing a bumbling fool who is about to blow himself up makes a better story.

It's entrapment to keep this phoney war on terroism going. They have to keep the boobs in the Bible Belt scared. So they won't object when they are taxed to death and sent oversaes to die for nonsense. The FBI has been doing it for many decades. How do you think they keep getting their budgets increased? Hoover had so many members in the KKK and the Communist Party that it was a joke. Randy Weaver was another famous entrapment. So was the Branch Davidians. The ATF had to get some publicity on those 2. Only the publicity turned out very bad.

Not "boobs in the bible belt," that recognize the dangers of Islamism. It's those of us who are mutlilingual, and can read foreign news accounts, in French, Dutch, German, Spanish and Italian, and understand what is happening over in Western Europe right now.
If there are any "boobs," around it's the hide-their-heads-in-the-sand illiterates in the Ron Paul camp, who pretend Islamism doesn't exist.

Oldefarte| 2.18.12 @ 1:35PM
Yes, it is NOT Clinton's fault? He know damned well about the Muslim terrorists' threat and avoided taking any actions against same. After all, why would you wanna blow up some of the largest contributors to your library?
Read "Hunting the Jackal" by Billy Waugh, an former CIA agent who used to take his daily runs by Bin Laden's compound in Khartoum during the 90's. Waugh also states in his book that Bin Laden used to drive through Khartoum in his white Benz with NO BODYGURADS. Waugh doesn't mention too much about politics in his book, but his proximity to Bin Laden took place in the 90's, when he was already on the CIA's radar. In 1995, Scheuer was selected to lead the spy agency’s bin Laden efforts. By then the militant Islamist was exiled in Sudan after angering Saudi authorities. Bin Laden was running several businesses in the African nation that Scheuer suggested disrupting. “We formulated operations and submitted them for approval but they would not approve any of them,” the ex-CIA official told the Daily Telegraph. “If we had been able to deal a serious economic blow it could have been a show-stopper.”
The next year, bin Laden declared war on the American government. And in 1997, when bin Laden was again living in Afghanistan, Scheuer said his team groomed a band of Afghans to capture the suspected terror boss. There were at least two “clear opportunities” to bring down bin Laden by the middle of 1998, according to Scheuer. But in both cases, he said, CIA bosses refused to proceed.
Then, in August of that year, bin Laden’s al-Qaeda network bombed two American embassies in Africa. Bin Laden said the embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, was targeted for serving as a U.S. intelligence hub for the CIA. The attacks killed numerous U.S. diplomats and at least two CIA agents, according to the Associated Press.

By that point, bin Laden was supposedly among the U.S. government’s most wanted criminals. But for some unknown reason, senior officials refused to authorize his capture or assassination.
“One 50-cent round could have put us all out of our agony,” Scheuer explained. But that didn’t happen, as high-level authorities consistently ordered the CIA unit not to stop bin Laden."

Anyway, you could flip a coin as to which Arab to invade after 9/11/01, since they all are dominated by Muslim terrorists [the sheiks/political leadership of Saudi Arabia etc are surrounded by these terrorists and know that one misstep on their part will result in their overthrow by their ectremist populations as is happening currently]. The Bush administration just picked Iraq because of Sadaam's previous asinine behaviors [they could have gone after Gadaffi and Lybia also]. Muslim terrorism is not
confined to a single country within the middle east, but is a worldwide problem. C Bowen.....It has never been proved the FBI, ATF or any other Federal, State organization had anything to do with the Oklahoma City Bombing.
But consider that with a screw-up of that magnitude, there never will be any proof as the CYA operation would be unusually rigorous.
So the matter remains unprovable but not likely.
I can not prove it, but I think the current FBI methodology was developed over a period of decades and hundreds of “Sting Operations”.
It would certainly make the Prosecutions job easier when the FBI controls all aspects of the plot.
Also, what ever the cost, it is certainly cheaper than a successful plot.
No one wants another 9/11 or Oklahoma City Bombing.

Before I even started to read this post I anticipated the outcome. No one was ever in danger. The bomb wasn't even real. The FBI had him under surveillance for months. This is always the story. This is federal law enforcement's MO. They find some hot headed big talking radical in some group and set him up to do some crime at the instigation of some Fed plant. This is how they went after the militias back in the day when they were the terrorist threat we were all supposed to be worried about. " If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.
Now, I can’t say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals. The strongest man on the block will run the neighborhood. We have government to insure that we don’t each one of us have to carry a club to defend ourselves. But again, I stand on my statement that I think that libertarianism and conservatism are traveling the same path."

Charlie Riedel/AP “America must decide who to trust: Al Gore’s Texas cheerleader, or the one who stood with Reagan.”..We examined Paul’s relationship with Reagan during the late 1980s to find out whether he was really so supportive of the Republican icon. Our colleagues at FactCheck.org covered this topic before, but we figure it’s worth another look as we continue our series on biographical claims of the 2012 Republican candidates.THE FACTS
Paul has little room to criticize politicians for changing their party affiliations. He campaigned for president as a Libertarian in 1988, after running for office seven times as a Republican and serving as a GOP member of the U.S. House for more than six years at that point. So why didn’t he vie for the Republican nomination? Because he’d renounced the party — along with Reagan’s presidential policies — a few years earlier, resigning from the GOP and forgoing a bid for reelection to Congress.Paul supported Reagan once in 1976, when the former California governor ran against Gerald Ford for the Republican nomination. But he appears to have fallen out of love with the party’s hero during year one of his administration. “It didn’t take me more than a month after 1981 to realize there would be no changes,” he told the Christian Science Monitor in 1987, referring to Reagan. In 1987, Paul broke ranks with the GOP, writing to the Republican National Committee: “I have gradually and steadily grown weary of the Republican Party’s efforts to reduce the size of the federal government.” He added: “Ronald Reagan and the Republican Party have given us skyrocketing deficits, and astoundingly doubled national debt.”Paul mentioned Reagan 14 more times as he accused the party of violating the conservative principles of free enterprise, limited government and balanced budgets. He knocked the former president for supporting anti-communist guerrillas, for increasing deficit spending, for expanding the federal payroll and for giving the Internal Revenue Service more power. He even reached back in time to criticize Reagan for his sparse use of the line-item veto as governor of California — which makes us wonder why he endorsed him in 1976. The Perry campaign posted a copy of the letter to the RNC as it appeared in the Libertarian Party News.
Paul continued disparaging Reagan throughout the 1988 nominating process, telling the L.A. Times at one point that he wanted to “totally disassociate” himself with the two-term president. We asked the Paul campaign what changed between then and now. “Dr. Paul loved President Reagan’s campaign platform and sincerely hoped he would govern that way,” said spokesman Gary Howard. “Dr. Paul remained personal friends with Reagan, flying on Air Force One with him several times, but was saddened with the weakening of the Reagan Revolution and the co-opting of Reagan’s great message by the Establishment.”Howard said he doesn’t think Paul endorsed any candidates during the years when Reagan won the White House, so it doesn’t appear the congressman “stood with” the Republican favorite beyond 1976. The Paul campaign has a history of manipulating the facts when it comes to Reagan-related issues. The group produced an ad in July claiming the former president had reluctantly raised the debt ceiling because of pressure from Democrats. In reality, his reluctance had nothing to do with the debt ceiling, but instead with a set of automatic defense cuts that would take effect if he and Congress couldn’t reach a deficit-reduction deal.
Reagan said at the time that he had “no objection whatsoever” to raising the debt ceiling, according to FactCheck.org. THE PINOCCHIO TEST
Paul “stood with” Reagan, but his support didn’t last for long. He endorsed the charismatic Republican in 1976 and later ostracized him while chasing his own presidential dreams — at the same time Perry backed Gore, nonetheless.
The Texas congressman may be more Reagan than the Gipper himself, but he can’t “totally disassociate” himself from the conservative icon only to invoke his name once he needs more support from the Republican base. He earns two Pinocchios for trying to have it both ways.....'

Actually, it is exactly a case of pity the poor terrorist. They have become yet another class of oppressed of victims by the Left and the Ron Paul crowd. That if not for the FBI these individuals would be singing "Kumbaya" and eating granola. The idea that the FBI creates terrorists is utter drivel. People are responsible for their own actions and it isn't every person who is prepared to wantonly murder another human being in cold blood, never mind 30 or 3,000. If a person planning to commit mass murder in the name of jihad cannot be called to account for his own actions then I guess there is no such thing as personal responsibility.

“One 50-cent round could have put us all out of our agony,” Scheuer explained. But that didn’t happen, as high-level authorities consistently ordered the CIA unit not to stop bin Laden."

[See my 1:05PM linkage below] Ya boy won't have to worry about capturing or killing terrorists if the US Justice Dept is allowed another four years of domestic terrorism!!!!!!!!

Aaron, you're not listening to what is being said. This is not the same thing as the blowback argument. The FBI doesn't create terrorists. It facilitates them so it can later arrest them and snag a big headline and keep the sheeple in fear. They can't justify their security state without fear.
This story supports the paleo argument that terrorism on our shores is an immigration issue, not a military issue. Dropping bombs on far off Muslim countries does nothing to stop terrorist acts by people who are illegally in this country.
Aaron Goldstein| 2.19.12 @ 8:51PM
Immigration is one facet of Islamic terrorism on U.S. soil but it is far from the only one. The last I checked Antonio Martinez (a.k.a. Mohammud Hussain) who wanted to blow up a U.S. military recruitment center was born in this country and converted to Islam.
Oldefarte| 2.19.12 @ 1:27PM
Aaron with all due respect I disagree [as the FBI is part of the US Justice Dept]:

I received an e-mail today from DHS that a "violent extremist" had been arrested in a plot to bomb the Capitol. Only when I read it did it mention that his name was El Khalifi, and his place of birth (Morocco), illegal status and religion were not discussed, as I recall (which was curious, because as I understood it, Homeland Security is supposed to prevent illegal aliens from endangering us).
Bill| 2.18.12 @ 2:13AM
Execute him as soon as possible.
Dai Alanye | 2.18.12 @ 12:18PM
Executing terrorists too soon is a mistake. These people often carry a wealth of useful intelligence, and with careful cultivation -- possibly including the application of a moderate amount of H2O -- can be looked upon as resources.
Both McVeigh and bin Laden were executed too early, before they were spilled everything they knew. Blame Clinton for the first mistake, Obama for the second.
Minilening | 2.21.12 @ 3:05AM
You're absolutely right. This cannot happen again. Let's think for a way that this guy will certainly spill useful info.

Dr.Ron Paul,
" While President Obama’s demand that Israel
make hard concessions in her border conflicts may very well be in her
long-term interest, only Israel can make that determination on her own,
without pressure from the United States or coercion by the United
Nations.
“Unlike this President, I do not believe it is our place to dictate how
Israel runs her affairs. There can only be peace in the region if those
sides work out their differences among one another. We should respect
Israel’s sovereignty and not try to dictate her policy from Washington.
“The President also defended his unconstitutional intervention in Libya,
authorized not by the United States Congress but by the United Nations."
Ronald Reagan,
"Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country."

Now now people,
Kathleen Parker scolded her readers yesterday to be more civil. Many people have posted the obvious by mentioning most of the troublemakers here and abroad - curiously - have middle eastern or African last names.
I assume Mrs. Parker would be none-too-pleased by those making these claims in such an uncivil manner. Per her article, you would be compared to the likes of Joe Wilson or Maxine Waters.
***er, actually Joe Wilson was factually accurate (albeit a little uncivil) by yelling 'liar' when obama claimed his healthcare bill not cover illegals. It does.
albert constantine jr.| 2.18.12 @ 10:49AM
Around the margins, I think he actually stated"You lie", which not onlyaccurately described the statement, but a continuing state of existence for the current POTUS.
Bob Grant| 2.18.12 @ 2:27PM
Al, I stand corrected, however, hasn't he devolved into a Liar?
albert constantine jr.| 2.18.12 @ 8:52PM
I think he started as a liar, and devolved into a bigger one.

Right, "Islamic Law in America" is right around the corner. Keep chasing boogeymen while the real monsters are eating us inside out. Dupe.
You better start to figure out what you are going to do for yourself instead of chasing after political saviors of either party to make your world "safe".

Who in the hades do you think THE REAL MONSTERS are? Oh wait, I get it RINO-CINOS or maybe them mean old Jews perhaps [did Clit tell you that?]
alex| 2.18.12 @ 1:46PM
hello my name is Alex i am frm Washington have a story similar to your friend Clara. my wife of almost 3 years said the exact same thing, that she wasn't sure if she wanted to be with me, and after 10 days, moved out. We have a son together and that complicates things further. Luckily, I haven't been hysterical and freaking out like I normally would. I know that will only push her further away. my days of not seeing her it feels like absolute hell. she came back to get her stuff and to talk to me and she said she would still be there for me. I don't know if it was out of being truly genuine or because of our son. I truly love this woman, I know I want to spend the rest of my life with her. and the biological factor is so true. we've had our ups and downs but when it came down to it, we always kissed and made up. I honestly don't know what happened, as far i was concerned i would do everything to bring her back to me.along the line i was happy for brigs which introduce me to a spell caster wintchcraftspell@gmail.com men this temple is magical, good and sweet truly she is back to me she inside right now i was just ask to follow up some steps by the temple and 6 days later Gina come begin that she dint know what came over her,i accept her quickly for she is my hearth viewers in this blog should help me thank the grate temple.
