The Spectacle Blog

In another column of mine today, this time at CFIF, I explain the dangers of the interplay between the Common Core State Standards for education and the Obama administration’s (mis)use of waivers and grants to try to create a national curriculum — against the law, as is explained in this great new paper by two former Department of Education top lawyers. Again, this is a perilous power grab by a power-mad administration.

Good article. A national government that controls the primary educational curriculum has taken a big step toward totalitarianism. To preserve our freedom, the Federal government should be removed from the elementary schools and return control to local school boards and parents.

Where is the Republican Party--do they exist ? Are they hiding from view. Cat got their tongue? I would never believe that there is an opposition party is existence that has shown such accommodation to Socialism as the so called Republican Party. It is no wonder that Romney has very weak support.

It is a sad state of the times. Too many of the GOP representatives seem to be spending all of their time "reaching across the aisle." In another AS blog yesterday, someone pointed out that Maureen Dowd is more critical of Obama than many Republicans.

These are regulations issued by the Dept of Education. Congress does not vote on regulations. Congress could pass a bill to overrule the regulations but it would fail because the Senate is controlled by the Dems and Obama as president would veto it.
The Dept of Education was vastly increased by GWB and his No Child Left Behind Act.
If you do not like, it then vote for a Republican president who can have the Dept of Education reverse these regulations, and a Republican Congress.
Complaining about Boehner may be fun but he has no power to stop the regulations.

John Bonehead and Mitch McMumbles are still hiding under their desks like a couple of girls, lest the Marxist Media say mean thing about them. They're too busy passing the cut in the social security taxes and extending unemployment benefits to be bothered by any little ole consitutional issues.

First they came for your daughter's turkey-and-cheese, and I didn't say anything because my son likes peanutbutter-and-jelly...

Race to the top was nothing more than Race to takeover, it was a way to "encourage" states to "volunteer" to sign up to national standards. Common Core - the devil is in the details and Arne is in charge.
