Happy Birthday, Mr. Reagan

Ed Meese has a great column on the Reagan legacy here. My take on it is here. Frank Donatelli also has a good tribute to the Gipper.

Hillyer,

what does Reagan possibly mean to a guy who is effectively helping Romney secure the nomination?

You want to honour Ronald Reagan, ------------------- then start firing for effect on Romney.

Until you do that, ------- we're take your acknowledgements of Reagan with a grain of salt.

And stop pretending that the guy who has done nothing since securing Iowa by visiting every one of its counties is still a viable candidate.

I shouldn't let myself be baited into responding, but this idea that I am helping Romney is absurd. Watch the results from Missouri, Minnesota, and Colorado tomorrow. Santorum really has a shot. And yes, I'll claim gladly to be a Reaganite, going all the way to 1976. I volunteered for him repeatedly, donated to his campaigns out of my meager bank account (which had a grand total of a few hundred dollars in it), and was a Reagan political appointee to the Public Affairs Office of the Veterans Administration. I could go on and on about my Reagan bona fides, but what's the use? No matter how many times I write things critical of Mitt Romney, without writing anything good about him, you still accuse me of helping Romney secure the nomination. That's laughable.

We salute, President Reagan!

Drek| 2.6.12 @ 12:15PM

Indeed,

we salute Ronald Reagan.

And we reject Mitt Romney, and we resent all efforts to force him upon us, and we will resist all efforts to secure him the nomination or the office.

And we'll do that precisely because we salute Ronald Reagan.

Your Excellency| 2.6.12 @ 2:32PM

Great piece in NRO today Quin. O/T Shouldn't you have another n in your first name?

Oldefarte| 2.6.12 @ 2:58PM

Indeed happy happy! There'll never be another Reagan and it is asinine to pretend otherwise. We simply have to deal with what is, and that is that we have four Republicans left to choose from and that's it. Get used to it and decide, and remember that IT'S THE DEMOCRATS, STUPIDS!!!!
