Democratic Gov. Bev Perdue of North Carolina has been ranked among the weakest incumbent governors in 2012. This morning, multiple news outlets have confirmed that she won’t seek a second term in office.

Readers of The American Spectator will doubtless remember Perdue as the governor who suggested that elections be suspended so that Congress may solve the nation’s problems.

Perdue is expected to confirm the news later today in an announcement. Her decision increases the probability even more that North Carolina will have a Republican governor come 2013.
