I am watching Ron Paul’s speech and am distracted by his blue sweater. He looks like Mr. Rogers.

Frankly, I would find it preferable if Paul were to abandon his speech, flip off his shoes and sing, “It’s a Beautiful Day in The Neighborhood.”

I suspect that Paul would scare far fewer people if he engaged in such whimsy.

" Paul looks ahead to Nevada, Minnesota and beyond in GOP race "

" Dr. Ron Paul, meanwhile, did not put much focus on South Carolina. The Texas lawmaker, whose Libertarian views have attracted a fervent following, is focused on building up his delegate count in all 50 states, and he is expected to have the resources to potentially remain in the race up until the nominating convention. "

The Tea Party Rebellion Focuses On The Delegate Count.

Delegate count:

Romney 19
Newt 17
Santorum 12
Paul 3
Huntsman 2

At least Paul is beating the guy who is no longer running!

Paul finished 4th. The RAZOR predicted 4th. In Iowa, he finished third. The RAZOR predicted third. In Florida, Paul will finish 4th again, unless he quits, or Santorum drops out. If Rick drops out, he will finish 3rd. In Virginia, in a two man field, Paul will finish a distant second to Romney.

It's fun to hear Clint gnashing his teeth. Clint, I hope you enjoyed that grenade that just went off in your shorts. Like I said, this is the part where the Rocky House of Pain beigins for the Paulbots. Only, the fighter fighting Rocky is Clubber Lang, and it's fight number 1, and there's no Apollo Creed to coach the racist bastard.

" CBS Poll: Independents Prefer Ron Paul Vs Obama
In a head to head match up with incumbent President Barack Obama, the indie voter chooses Ron Paul, a CBS News poll suggested on Monday.

A total of 47% of independent voters said they would choose Ron Paul compared to 45% of independent voters choosing Mitt Romney against Obama, and 41% of independents saying they would choose Rick Santorum. If a Paul-Obama showdown were ever to take place, 47% of independent voters would vote for Paul, 81% republicans and 10% Democrats for a total of 45% of the vote. Obama would get just 40% of the independent vote in that contest, with 85% of the Democrats choosing Obama and 9% of Republicans choosing the President on election day in November. Obama would win the general election by a narrow one point margin if the election was held today between the two."

Chuck,

If Gingrich does well in Florida (possible win), do you think that might cause Santorum to pack it in? For some reason, I see his "I'm in it all the way" as being little more than bravado.

Your opinion?

chuck| 1.21.12 @ 10:10PM

I commented last week that Santorum and Perry should withdraw and endorse Newt. I think Santorum is just days away from joining Perry. By doing so, he can assure a conservative as the nominee, and I'm sure Newt would reward him with either VP, or a plum cabinet position.

Warrior | 1.21.12 @ 10:15PM

How can Gingrich be defined as a Conservative? I would agree that he leans more to the right of center than Romney but no way is he a Conservative.

chuck| 1.21.12 @ 10:25PM

Look at what he accomplished as Speaker:

4 balanced budgets
Lowered taxes
Welfare reform
and with a Democrat in the White House.

I live in GA, and have followed Newt from a back bencher to Speaker, to now front-runner for the nomination. He is much more conservative than anyone else in the race. Is he perfect? No, but he's better than Romney or Santorum. Paul has no chance, finishing a distant 4th, and should drop out.
But Newt loves this country. Obama hates it. And Newt would make sure that EVERY PERSON in this country knows it.

Clint| 1.22.12 @ 9:32AM

" Gingrich isn’t much more popular among freedom Works than Romney. In May, when Gingrich sharply criticized Paul Ryan’s Medicare reform plan, FreedomWorks Chairman Dick Armey reminded National Review that Gingrich had been a serial offender:

Citing Gingrich’s support of Dede Scozzafava in the 2009 congressional election in New York’s 23rd district, his backing of Medicare Part D and TARP, and his commercial with Nancy Pelosi about climate change, Armey observes that “Newt entered the race with serious ground to make up with these 2 million Tea Party activists.”…

Brendan Steinhauser, director of Federal and State Campaigns for FreedomWorks, reports that the Tea Partiers he’s talked to are “irate” at Gingrich… “I never met a single Tea Party activist that supported Newt Gingrich for president,” he adds."

The Tea Party Rebellion Heads To Florida.

Occam's Tool| 1.21.12 @ 11:25PM

Warrior,

Paul has accomplished NOTHING in close to 30 years in office. Newt balanced budgets, lowered taxes, reformed welfare. What we need our President to do in the next four years:

1) Drill, baby, drill. Get rid of energy dependence on the Middle East and develop North Dakota, for example.
2. Keep taxes low.
3. Destroy Obamacare and other needless regulations.
4. Reduce the deficit.
5. Kill Islamists.

Now, I know you disagree with me on number 5, I suppose, but the top 4 even Clint agrees with me on. Who's gonna get it done? An elderly back-bencher who has gotten no bills passed in almost 3 decades in Congress, or a slippery operator? Do you think Newt agrees with me on 1-4? Of course he does. There you go.If Santorum's gone or hopeless by Minnesota, I'm voting for Newt. A vote for Paul at this point is a vote for Romney. Your call.

Warrior | 1.22.12 @ 12:19AM

OT, Ron Paul has nothing to do with my statement. The question is whether Newt is a conservative, he is not.

If any candidate would accomplish the five items, we would have a good start:
1. Drilling is without question.
2. A minimal flat tax should be implemented.
3. Obamacare is unConstitutional and has no severability clause.
4. There should only be a deficit in time of national emergency, basically war.
5. I would change to killing the radical islamists/enemies of America and then we agree.

I believe we also agree that Dr. Paul is a libertarian and not a Republican. I wholeheartedly disagree with your absurd comment on how a vote for Paul is a vote for Romney. To believe that line of thought would mean that we have no voice. Let's also agree that there shouldn't and cannot be a third party run if he fails to get the nomination. However, if he carries enough delegates to the convention, maybe his voice on Constitutional governing gets heard a little louder.

Occam's Tool| 1.22.12 @ 12:31AM

Feel free to disagree with me, Warrior. You are wrong.

Our major enemies right now are Islamists. Obviously, the Chinese are also a menace, but less so, demographically.

Paul finished 4th in SC. He will also get romper-stompered in Florida. Winning some easily cheatable caucus in a podunk state will not help him. The highest he will finish will be in Virginia, which is where he will finish 2 out of 2.

I've got no terouble with Newt. He's going to follow a Conswervative lead on Domestic issues, and his views on Middle East issues are PRECISELY what is needed to get things going---siding with Israel will make the Palis desperate for a deal, and reduce Iranian influence.

Occam's Tool| 1.22.12 @ 12:31AM

sorry, "trouble."

" Romney demands Gingrich release contract for Freddie Mac work

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Mitt Romney called on Newt Gingrich to release all correspondence he'd had with mortgage giant Freddie Mac on Saturday morning, the day of South Carolina's primary, while meeting with supporters at his Upstate South Carolina campaign headquarters.

"I'd like to see the report," he told reporters. "I'd like to see what he actually told Freddie Mac. Don't you think? This is a big issue. We've got a Washington insider talking about Freddie Mac. Let's see what his report was to Freddie Mac, what he said to them, what advice he gave them."

Francesca,

What's moral about blaming America for the poor little terrorists being terrorists?

Hmm?

It's like the Pope calling Bible believing Christians Heretics.

Oldefarte| 1.22.12 @ 11:39AM

'....The belief in the Bible as the sole source of faith is unhistorical, illogical, fatal to the virtue of faith, and destructive of unity. It is unhistorical. No one denies the fact that Christ and the Apostles founded the Church by preaching and exacting faith in their doctrines. No book told as yet of the Divinity of Christ, the redeeming value of His Passion, or of His coming to judge the world; these and all similar revelations had to be believed on the word of the Apostles, who were, as their powers showed, messengers from God. And those who received their word did so solely on authority. As immediate, implicit submission of the mind was in the lifetime of the Apostles the only necessary token of faith, there was no room whatever for what is now called private judgment. This is quite clear from the words of Scripture: "Therefore, we also give thanks to God without ceasing: because, that when you had received of us the word of the hearing of God, you received it not as the word of men, but (as it is indeed) the word of God" (1 Thessalonians 2:13). The word of hearing is received through a human teacher and is believed on the authority of God, who is its first author (cf. Romans 10:17). But, if in the time of the Apostles, faith consisted in submitting to authorized teaching, it does so now; for the essence of things never changes and the foundation of the Church and of our salvation is immovable.
Again, it is illogical to base faith upon the private interpretation of a book. For faith consists in submitting; private interpretation consists in judging. In faith by hearing, the last word rests with the teacher; in private judgment it rests with the reader, who submits the dead text of Scripture to a kind of post-mortem examination and delivers a verdict without appeal: he believes in himself rather than in any higher authority. But such trust in one's own light is not faith. Private judgment is fatal to the theological virtue of faith. John Henry Newman says "I think I may assume that this virtue, which was exercised by the first Christians, is not known at all amongst Protestants now; or at least if there are instances of it, it is exercised toward those, I mean their teachers and divines, who expressly disclaim that they are objects of it, and exhort their people to judge for themselves" ("Discourses to Mixed Congregations", Faith and Private Judgment). And in proof he advances the instability of Protestant so-called faith: "They are as children tossed to and fro and carried along by every gale of doctrine. If they had faith they would not change. They look upon the simple faith of Catholics as if unworthy the dignity of human nature, as slavish and foolish". Yet upon that simple, unquestioning faith the Church was built up and is held together to this day.....'

And you wonder why we TRUE conservatives and most other normal people regard Paultards like you as both evil and stupid.

Now go back to reading your Collector's Editions of "Mein Kamph" and "Protocals of the Learned Elders of Zion."

William R| 1.22.12 @ 3:42PM

I'm not saying that you blithering idiot. I am saying the creation of Israel was a horrible mistake. It destabilized the Middle East and radicalized Muslims. It also created a big fifth column in this country.

Israel can murder 34 and wound 171 American sailors and it gets covered up. They loot our secrets and if Fox News is to believed knew about 9/11 in advance and didn't warn us. In other words Israel is a ball and chain on the neck of the United States.

We need to take Reagan's advice and just be neutral in the Middle East.

Tom| 1.22.12 @ 5:13PM

That's exactly what you are saying, you piece of sub-human Nazi Paultard gutter slime.

Now you are blaming the Jews for 9/11!!!!

For garbage like you, the only appropriate place to stick a Jew is at the bottom of a gas chamber.

And the Moslems didn't need to be"radicalized." They have a 1400 year history of spreading terror and bloodshed. Wherever Islam spread, there is nothing but human misery. Always has been that way; always will be that way.

Your main complaint against Adolph, Heinrich, and the rest of the boys back in the 1930's and 1940s is that they didn't finish the job.
