A new poll out found that two thirds of Americans would consider a 3rd party. Another poll found that at least half the population wants another party. A poll recently found that Ron Paul would get 21% of the vote if he ran 3rd party. Mitt Romney would get 31% and Obama 42% in such a matchup. 70% of the population wants the Fed audited, the wars ended, foreign aid ended, the budget slashed, and a return to our Constitution and civil liberties. All you people here that are pushing the Bush, Obama, Romney program are leading the country over the cliff. We will never vote for Gingrich. He is the most hated politician in America. How many young people, women, independents, disaffected Democrats, would vote for him. I doubt if he would get 20% of the vote in a 3 pary election. The 3rd party might well win.
Bob Grant| 1.20.12 @ 10:51PM
Only a crypto obama supporter would be in favor of a third party.
Curious how you and your ilk spend all of your psychic energy bashing conservatives and republicans and not a peep of criticism toward obama, pelosi, or reid. You know, those socialists who should be VERY offensive to real libertarians.
Go ahead, start a third party and guarantee a second obama term. This is what the plan was all along. Right?

A lot of us would like the Republicans to kick out the neocons and return to our roots. Eisenhower ran on a pledge to end Korea and bring back peace and prosperity. Robert Taft was for non intervention and against NATO. Hoover, Harding, and Coolidge wanted nothing to do with war and warmongers. Nixon and Reagan were for negotiations with our enemies. Reagan signed arms control treaties which slashed the world's nuclear weapon. He hated those weapons and wanted them eliminated from the earth. Reagan also wanted us to get out of the Middle East and stay out. He said so in his memoirs.

During the Middle Ages the Church wanted to outlaw the arbalest, a new steel crossbow that had the power to penetrate plate armor. No such luck, of course. It's as difficult to outlaw weapons as it is to keep fools from engaging in unworldly thinking.

Jack,
That is not an answer to Bob Grant's assertion.
Who do you, personally, want to win the election if Ron Paul does not get the nomination to run against Obama? Obama or the Republican Nominee, who ever he is?
How about it?
Bob Grant| 1.21.12 @ 10:36AM
Your question undoubtedly has him against the ropes.
If I had to make a prediction it would be to have obama elected to prove some larger point. He would argue a Romney, Gingrich, or Santorum presidency would be no different than an obama one.
This, of course, is utter hogwash. It's about as irrational as Ron Paul's foreign policy.
we have a local talk radio host who claims to be a libertarian but spends about 95 percent of his time talking about republican/conservative hypocrisy and outrages and the other 5 percent gentle criticisms on obama's policy.
This curious strategy of throwing republicans and democrats in the same box, as though there's zero difference between Nancy Pelosi and John Boener, only adds to the confusion in the minds of ill-educated voters...
...Confused voters tend to vote democrat!!!
Hence, my allegation that he's a crypto obama supporter.

Ronald Reagan,
" If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals–if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is.
Now, I can’t say that I will agree with all the things that the present group who call themselves Libertarians in the sense of a party say, because I think that like in any political movement there are shades, and there are libertarians who are almost over at the point of wanting no government at all or anarchy. I believe there are legitimate government functions. There is a legitimate need in an orderly society for some government to maintain freedom or we will have tyranny by individuals. The strongest man on the block will run the neighborhood. We have government to insure that we don’t each one of us have to carry a club to defend ourselves. But again, I stand on my statement that I think that libertarianism and conservatism are traveling the same path."
The Tea Party Rebellion Is In South Carolina.
Jack in Wi.| 1.21.12 @ 10:39AM
I want a 3rd party to win, if it is any good, otherwise Romney=Obama. Gingrich is for worse then either. I am sitting this one out, if there is no 3rd party. But the Constitution party is usually on the ballot in this state.
Bob K.| 1.21.12 @ 1:19PM
Libertarians who do not vote in this election for your reasons will be far out numbered by the people who never vote. The ones who don't care. The impotent ones which you choose to join.
Oldefarte| 1.21.12 @ 4:54PM
No, you want Paul to win via a third party effort......tell the truth!!!!!!!!!
Bob Grant| 1.21.12 @ 10:49AM
Another prediction:
Expect an insipid copy/paste retort from Clint in 5.4.3.2.1........
Clint| 1.21.12 @ 12:17PM
Boobie Grant, Is The RINO-CINO Boot Licker Flunkie Stooge Who Supports The RINO-CINO Frontman, Mittens Romney.
The Tea Party Rebellion Steps On Mittens' Tail.

More brilliant analysis and sparkling repartee.
I love this site.
Oldefarte| 1.21.12 @ 4:50PM
Better 'Mittens' than TOO SHORT SHORTS right??????
Oldefarte| 1.21.12 @ 4:57PM
I'll answer the question for Jack.....OBAMA [since Paul cannot win]!!!!
Oldefarte| 1.21.12 @ 4:52PM
What about kicking out the labor unions from Wisconsin that are attempting to destroy the Republican Party's Scott Walker???????
Oldefarte| 1.21.12 @ 4:49PM
That's exactly what these Paulistas are trying to do is garner votes for Obama/Democrats by their support of this libertarian [too old] candidate. They want to destroy the Republican Party from within and promote Obama/Democrats!!!!!!!!
Oldefarte| 1.21.12 @ 4:46PM
Instead of supporting your TOO SHORT SHORTS boy, why don't you do the country a big favor and instead leand your support to your Governor Scott Walker's valiant effort to fight the corruption of labor unionism that is destroying this country?????????
Mike| 1.21.12 @ 10:50AM
The Texas legislators drew maps that are clearly discriminatory. Three judges drew maps that are clearly political. The Supreme Court essentially punted unanimously. Throw in the trial in D.C. and we have a chaotic situation. Stay tuned.
