It doesn’t matter what he does, only what he says as I noted in my column this morning …. Isn’t that backwards? Jen Rubin lays out the case why a vote for Gingrich on Saturday amounts to a vote for Romney to be the nominee. After all, it’s impossible to imagine Republicans nominating somebody who actually asked his wife to “share him” in an open marriage.

Jen's just jealous that Mitt doesn't have an open marriage. He’s so dreamy!!

(Sorry, that’s one that’s just too, too tempting to resist.)

Newt is great in debate, but he is just not trustworthy as Pres. Maybe he'd make a good Veep? That way, he could mouth off without doing real damage.

Interesting. This comment actually reminded me of a frisbee.

Presidential Adviser, to a President who's willing to stifle Newt when he gets out of line.

Sir, you should be ashamed! I know you don't want Newt, but your little blurb up there sounded like it came from a gossipy 16 year old.....vile!

Kitty| 1.19.12 @ 1:54PM

How does anyone know she's telling the truth?

Imagine being so bitter that you must track down you x-wife 18 years later. Yes I can imagine Republicans voting for a person who cheated in a former marriage.

After all there is a Christian principal called forgiveness and redemption. Finally Newt got it right and found a loving wife who supports him.

Newt has admitted he is not proud of his past behavior so nothing this woman has said surprises us at all, except I think her continued bitterness. That only reflects on her.

Few of us are offered the opportunity to sample three wives before deciding, especially via a kind of menage a trois.

Jim| 1.20.12 @ 10:12PM

Maybe Newt is just trying to take the Mormon vote away from Romney. God help wife #3 if she ever catches a cold...

This commentary rape of candidates all for political purposes has simply got to stop. Okay, so Newt's a sleazy human being personally, but so what? Want a saint as president, then maybe Pat Boone would be the perfect candidate, huh? So Newt's been married three times, again so what? There are now individuals successful in all walks of life who have been married for five-six times or more. Are these people to be disqualified because of same. I've just finished reading Maestro by Woodward in which the last pages indicate the inner circle at the Fed discussing the then Democrat president's political brilliance while correspondingly acting stupid-foolish with a DC intern. And wait a minute, doesn't the public broadly acknowledge his and his wife's superior parenting skills in raising their only daughter to become an apparent outstanding citizen? Whether Newt's sexual proclivities are boarding on Hillbillish or worse is not the issue, but rather can he accompolish what needs to be done within the presidency for the overall benefit of the citizens of this country [as opposed to the current imbicile-in-chief socialist] ??????????????

Where's Caligula when the Republic needs him?

Better we kick out all of the present bunch, since Santorum is the only one conservative, moral and sane, and he can't get enough primary votes. Kick them all out and let the Convention draft Sarah.

Didn't Bill and Hilary essentially share each other while they occupied the White House (at least Bill shared himself, that's for sure)? Don't be surprised in a few to years to learn that Barack Hussein Obama and his wife have some extra-marital adventures of their own. Something's amiss with all those separate vacations...

Dai Alanye | 1.19.12 @ 4:59PM

"Share each other" they did, and didn't that work out wonderfully for the nation.

wolfy ghalkhani| 1.19.12 @ 5:03PM

Newt should convet to Islam.

Russell| 1.20.12 @ 2:05AM

Hillyer has a point- blood sports and fornication, not open marriage, are our party's foundations.

sorry mitt, you're a great debater; sharp witted, humorous and pithy. but it's what goes on between the debates that bothers me. your thoughtless attack on real conservatives when we were exposing obamacare for all its abominations did you in, for me. plus, you're an opportunist and have that huckster history, in my view, just like you-know-who in the white house. you've been a great representative and house leader. but i'm afraid that's your peter-principled pinnacle, pal. i'd be more impressed if you spent the next few years running an american company or bought a business and improved it, made it more profitable or saved it - whatever. it's time for you, like many of our loudmouthed politicians, to exit the public sector and prove yourselves in the real, competitive world that most of your constituents occupy and push forward. romney has demonstrated his capabilities here, and he's plenty equipped to oppose bho and his ghastly vision for us. now do the right thing, and slip away. we'll hold an ambassadorship open for you in case your venture into commercial america doesn't work out for you. and thanks for sharpening up and honing romney's coming show.

xman12stlouis| 1.21.12 @ 3:26PM

sorry NEWT...(mea culpa)...
