Perry to Exit Stage Right

Multiple reports are indicating that Texas Governor Rick Perry will drop out of the GOP race today.

Yesterday both Erick Erickson and Laura Ingraham called on Perry to step aside. Erickson, of course, had previously championed Perry. Indeed, Perry entered the GOP race last August much with fanfare and immediately surged to the top of the polls and effectively signaled the beginning of the end of Michele Bachmann’s campaign after she won the Ames Straw Poll.

The GOP race was being built as a battle between Perry and Mitt Romney. But Perry would meet with an equally rapid descent stringing together a series of poor debate performances and consistently came out on the short end in his exchanges with Romney. The low point of his campaign, of course, came when he could not remember the Department of Energy as one of the three government departments he wanted to cut during the CNBC Debate in November.

To his credit, Perry tried to make lemonade out of lemons. The following night he went on David Letterman to read the “Top Ten Rick Perry Excuses.” After that, Perry seemed more relaxed and his debate performances improved. Unfortunately, it did little change the minds of Republican primary voters and Perry remained mired in single digits.

As Stacy McCain noted last September, Perry underwent back surgery in July. Given Perry’s previously spotless electoral record one must wonder if Perry’s health wasn’t an issue if it would have turned out to be a Perry vs. Romney battle. Alas, we will never know.

"GIVE US BARABAS...GIVE US BARABAS!!!"
And with that, "we the people" crucified Jesus.

Other than Sam Houston, Rick Perry may very well go down in history as the greatest Texas Governor in history.

If Obama wins in November, I am personally thanking God that Perry remains Texas' Governor...of the largest economy among the United States.

In case anyone here has forgotten...Texas IS the energy State of the Union and Perry is the Governor. In that first debate, Perry simply thought he had listed the Energy Dept first....lost his train of thought momentarily, and was gleefully leaped upon by the MSM...as well as some turds here at TAS.

OK, Turds, just who in the Republican contenders is more intimately aware of the devastation the Energy Dept. along with the EPA...has wreaked upon low cost energy? Duh!

ONLY Governor Perry........scared the living sh*t out of the Democrats, since Sarah chose not to run.
So,
the Democrats, their loving MSM, and some true dumbasses here at TAS fell for their propaganda.
Well,
I hope you turds enjoy your punch-bowl.

When Governor Perry gets back to Texas...whoa nellie!
If you think he was a strong tenth ammendment proponent before this trashing...just grab your asses and hold on tight!

He tried his best to EXTEND the blessings of liberty and prosperity Texans enjoy... to your own stupid bankrupt States.

You "the people" now have to choose among Mr. Milque Toast, Mr. Wife Deserter, or Mr. Prude.

One little fact you may have forgotten; Texas can charge any amount of $$$ "separation fees" we choose when exporting oil and gas interstate.

OOPS!
(the correct term escapes me at the moment, but watch your gas pump. Does anyone remember the proper term for "taxing depletion" ?)

Remember when the discussions erupted about Texas becoming a "no-fly zone" due to egregious searches to airline passengers here in Texas being objected to?
Hah!
You ain't seen nothing yet!

Since the day of his announcement to run...I found myself of two minds. On the one hand, I thought "what a great President he would be." On the other hand I thought " The stupids won't get it."

He was the only clean, Christian man in the race who had accomplished huge strides for his State and the country.

But the people screamed ..."Give us Barabas, Give us Barabas."
How did that work out?

Ugh. The ailing back meme is simply an effort for Perry to save face. Face palm. If you didn't know Perry was not a small govt leader nor conservative strong in the face of headwinds, then you, my friends, never understood Paint Creek.

Meanwhile, as we endure the Perry endorsed distraction of candidate New Gingrich's perpetual erection, it makes one reminisce over the distraction of candidate predator black man Herman Cain. Just tell me the freed up political operatives keep making Romney pay top dollar.

Given Perry's previously spotless electoral record ...

It was a spotless record that rested on his being able to agree to only ONE debate in those elections, and even that one debate was under tightly-controlled circumstances favorable to Perry.

His inability to debate well was no secret, so throwing him into the GOP primaries with an absurd number of debates on the schedule almost seems like someone was playing a cruel prank on him. If so they got him good.
