Tim Tebow could not pull off another miracle as the
New England Patriots squashed the Denver Broncos 45-10 at
Gillette Stadium. It was the first time the Pats won a playoff game
since 2008.
Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 26 out of 34 passes for 363
yards including six touchdown passes tying an NFL post-season
record held by Steve Young and Daryle Lamonica. Three of Brady’s
touchdown passes were caught by Pats tight end Rob Gronkowski who
had ten catches in all for 145 yards.
Conversely, Tebow completed only 9 out of 26 passes for 136
yards and was frustrated by the Pats defense who sacked him five
times. While those who dislike Tebow’s overt religious pride
will delight in his disappointing performance who would have
expected the Broncos to be in the playoffs four months ago much
less the Broncos’ starting QB? Tebow has nothing for which to be
ashamed. He’s still learning the league. There have been times when
he’s been nothing short of miraculous but there have also been
times when he’s been overmatched and overwhelmed. But you learn
from defeat and get better. Tebow is only going to get better and
he will be heard from for many years to come.
As for the Pats, they will face the winner of tomorrow’s
afternoon’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston
Texans in the AFC Final on January 22nd.
UPDATE: It’ll be Pats-Ravens next Sunday.

Ah, well. Still, this is his second season and first year doing something other than holding a clipboard.
And he seems to be nice guy.

no team wins a playoff game when their defense gets lit up like that...patriots had 42 with 25 minutes left in the game.
i also notice that the road teams are O for the playoffs so far. oh well i'm from michigan and the dream of a harbaugh vs brady super bowl is still alive. go blue.

The evil Emperor Belichick has triumphed over young Tebow. Join the Dark Side, we've got cookies.

That's funny I never saw Tebow on the field when Brady was playing.
Bob Grant| 1.15.12 @ 1:42PM
The bottom line is he's a GREAT role model and someone one to be looked up to but his football skills are and, more than likely, will remain sub par.
Short of a complete over haul of his throwing mechanics (almost unheard of this late in his career), he will only go as far as his leadership abilities, competitiveness, and legs will take him.
Another playoff run is highly unlikely, however, the way he conducts himself on and off the field is so refreshing, and because of that alone, I hope he has a long career in the NFL.

Tebow was punished for violating the Sabbath. Where's your God now Timmy Boy?
senecasd| 1.15.12 @ 4:14PM
Actually, Hobbes, the Sabbath rerfernced in the 10 Commandments was Saturday, not Sunday.

If He was up you alimentary canal I'd bet you'd know where He was, Hobbes Boy!

It was the highest rated Divisional playoff game in 11 years!! Why do you think that was? Could it have been all the Atheists watching to cheer against him? Or do you think it was because Believers were watching him, to cheer him on, because he's a good "positive" story (the Believers would be in addition to the People who were just watching, because they're Football fans)? I don't think there's enough Atheists out there to pump up the ratings that much!! I watched the game in its entirety, which makes it the first game of the year that I've watched from start to finish (and I believe,... I really believe that I can't stand the Broncos, but I still watched the game)!! He seems like a good kid to me!! So I can't figure out why the Left, which makes up most Atheists in this Country, have a problem with him? But then again, they're the very same People who won't say Merry Christmas, and want every remnant of God removed from all public spaces!! So enjoy Tebow's loss, you heartless, soulless Commies!!

Denver was not a good team at all this year. They would have had trouble winning 5 games without Tebow. New England should have beat them easily and they did.
King of Bain | 1.15.12 @ 6:48PM
I prayed to God and "Tebowed" for a New England victory.
GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS.

I oppose the open display of prayer. Why?
The internet is flowing with stories about moslem football players attempting to adopt the Tebow way.
When that happens: What Will Jesus Do?

I liked Tebow. Oh, well, next year---if a graduate of Texas Christian, Andy Dalton, doesn't continue to improve and shock the football world.

On ESPN First Take Friday viewers had a choice between two debates, one involving Tebow and one not. The one involving Tebow won by a landslide. If nothing else, Tebow's open faith has compelled the interest of millions.
As for God and victory, I've never heard Tebow say that God wants him to win. I have heard Tebow say he wants God to win and that he (Tebow) sees himself as God's servant. As in the Bible, that means in good times and bad, in defeat as well as in victory.
As a quarterback Tebow is in the vein of players like Vince Young, Kordell Stewart, Joe Kapp and Bobby Douglass, powerful athletes who don't quite fit the quarterback mold. Still, he is a leader and unquestionably took the Broncos farther than anyone thought possible.
