Signs of life from Mitt Romney’s primary opponents? Newt Gingrich has come out with a very clever ad compiling Romney’s rhetorical blunders… and reminding voters that Romney once put the family dog on top of their car. (Hat tip: Matt Lewis.)

Mr Antle
If you think this is a good ad, then you are totally in the tank for Newt. Why don't you just go work for his campaign?
Newt raising the issue of whether a corporation is a person shows again he knows nothing about business and the private economy.

Corporations are not made up of people but rather robots and ghosts.

I agree, W. Sticking with the issues where Romney is wrong is the best way to attack. Play the '94 Romney running to the left of Ted Kennedy on abortion and homosexual rights. The more modern Romney who passed Romneycare. The Romney who supports Obama's military homosexual policy. The Romney who wanted to raise some taxes in Massachusetts.

I have to agree - this is NOT a good ad - in fact, I think it's pathetic.

Ok, Newt, we know you are pretty good in debates - it's where you shine - kinda sorta.

But let's get serious. Newt Gingrich may not be stupid, but he is most definitely a fool. An immature, ideologically adrift fool at that. The only thing that motivates him is his abjectly craven narcissism.

Put this vain and avaricious fop anywhere near the levers and switches of power and you have a train wreck - right quick.

That's why I love Romney. He'd be a swell kicker-of-the-can-down-the-road. Why, I'm sure he'll stand erect and look crisp as the ship of State sinks beneath him. His hair won't be mussed until all of us are in Davey Jones's locker.

God help us.

Newt is going to have a hard time launching an issue-based attack on Romney, since he has been wrong on many of the same issues. Oops, I'm supposed to be in the tank for Newt.

W, I don't think it is a winning ad -- I question even its premise that voters are really looking to nominate the best debater -- but most, though not all, of these quotes are legitimate gaffes. The "Who Let the Dogs Out" video is practically an ad in itself.

Personally, I wish Newt Gingrich would just go the hell away. He'd be a TERRIBLE standard bearer for the Republicans. He is no conservative.

Sadly, though, I also wish Mitt Romney would just go the hell away. He'd be a TERRIBLE standard bearer for the Republicans. He is no conservative.

Hell, I wish they'd all go away. Like it matters at this point which bug gets smashed onto the windshield of the Big Government juggernaut.

They're all nanny statists.

Romney is using the best strategy: ignoring Newt and focusing on Obama forcing job cuts at GM and Chrysler. Sounds like Mitt is the second coming of Reagan-in the way he brought across a coalition of voters last night. Nice attempt at spinning the victory. I wonder if by a miracle Newt became the nominee what percentage has he already P.O. d who would stay home next fall? I could be one of millions; I'll keep you in limbo guessing, unlike some here who SWEAR they will never vote for Romney.

WL| 1.11.12 @ 5:01PM

Well...ain't you clever...

Everybody knew Mitt would do very well in New Hampshire...They are middle of the road and go anyway the wind is blowing...

That's why they voted for Obama in 2008.

I don't necessarily support Newt (been going back and forth)....but watching him broadside Romney with any stick he can swat him with..has been sort of gratifying...

Mitt is a loser, but he may get the nomination and we will lose.

somnolence| 1.11.12 @ 4:27PM

That 16% of course was not enthusiastic about ANY of them apparently, not just Romney. So, another nice attempt at spin that fails the muster.

I’m done commenting on Clint and Jack this week. It’s like kicking a quadriplegic retard in the balls. There’s just no sport in it.

(My thanks to Big Pete from Weasel Zippers, from whom I stole and changed this line, originally applied to "Tingles.")

Romney won in IA because he was born in MI, and won in NH because he was the governor of neighboring MA, and has been campaigning there since 2007. It's no surprise that he would win there. SC is a whole new ball game. He lost there to McCain in 2008. He lost because of his liberal views on social and fiscal policies. Between now and then in SC, nothing changed for Romney. He cannot win in SC in 2012, too.
It'll be Rick Perry, a miracle.

Romney is the aggressor and Gingrich id the defender. Gingrich needs to attack Romney on RomneyCare, abortion, and gay marriage in SC. Bring Romney down.

What did Rambo say - "Col they drew first blood" and then Rambo brought hell onto the bad guys. Newt it's your Rambo moment. Too much is at stake to sit back and let a NE Progressive be forced down our throats. We're not playing checkers here, it's for ALL the marvels.

bluecollarbytes| 1.12.12 @ 8:37AM

Newt is a good example of why not to put one's anti-Romney hopes in a candidate just for the sake of being anti-Romney.

I'm disappointed, even knowing Newt lapses into foolishness and immaturity at times, that he's reinforced the Leftist dogma, again.

let us talk no more of this newt
