It is interesting to see Ron Paul’s campaign come
to Mitt Romney’s defense over the “firing” controversy.
At the risk of getting way, way, way ahead of myself, should
Romney win the GOP nomination I don’t think we can discount the
possibilty that Romney could tap Paul to be his running
mate.
Now while this is a remote possibility it is a possibility
nonetheless. The one reason I see Romney picking Paul would be to
head off the possibility of him running as a third party
candidate should he fail to win the GOP nomination.

No Aaron. If he needs Ron Paul, he'll tap Rand Paul for VP.
Jack in Wi.| 1.10.12 @ 9:29PM
The only way Romney could win is if he dumps the pro war rhetoric. The Romney Rand Paul ticket has been talked about. But Romney would have to dump the neocons, and be for bringing the troops home. He would also have to embrace auditing the Fed and slashing the budget in huge proportions. We all know that Mitt is capable of that. Why do you think the Neocons are dumping millions into the campaign of Gingrich?

ooooooh, neocons! oooooooooooooooohhhh!

Clint,
You are wrong about Romney on abortion. And he was a white knight "reengineering" or turnaround expert, not a job killer. Do you understand that the companies he saved were about to go bankrupt? Bain made a lot of money because they provided the venture capital to turn things around. In business, the higher the risk, the higher the reward. Would it have been better for the companies to fold and layoff all their employees.
I see Romney is a victim of uninformed republicans...maybe listening to the MSM? Your "anyone but Mitt" dream is about to come true, and his name is Barack Obama.

" Ever since the LBO craze of the 1980s—led by high-profile corporate raiders who financed takeovers with low-quality debt and then sold off pieces of the acquired companies for their own profit—LBOs have garnered negative publicity. Critics of leveraged buyouts argue that these transactions harm the long-term competitiveness of firms involved. First, these firms are unlikely to have replaced operating assets since their cash flow must be devoted to servicing the LBO-related debt. Thus, the property, plant, and equipment of LBO firms are likely to have aged considerably during the time when the firm is privately held. In addition, expenditures for repair and maintenance may have been curtailed as well. Finally, it is possible that research and development expenditures have also been controlled. As a result, the future growth prospects of these firms may be significantly reduced."
Those Companies Were Victims Of LBO's.
Also, Romney Had The Third Lowest Rate Of Job Growth As Governor Of Massachusetts.

Aaron, I don't know what you're drinking but I sure hope it's good stuff! A Romney-Paul ticket would be instant political death. A Paul third party movement would also be instant death to the Repulbican Party' s candidate chances of defeating Obama, which is possibly what the Paulistas want anyway [since most are suspect Republicans constatnly screaming RINO-CINO]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jack in Wi.| 1.10.12 @ 9:42PM
Old timer: it is the only way of uniting the party if romney is the nminee. If Dr. Paul is the nominee, he could forget about the elites and go it alone. He has enough independent support to win without them

The two biggest Liberals in the GOP race come in first and a distant second in the bastion of RINO-land that is New Hampshire and Aaron is already coming out with tinfoil hat conspiracy theories?! Isn't NH the home to the Liberal-tarian-Anarchist PorcFest? LOL -- On To South Carolina!!

This may be the smartest idea I've read in a long time. Because the Republican establishment has foolishly wasted so much time deriding Paul with nonsensical accusations of racism and anti-semitism, we have probably disaffected a large portion of our libertarian wing. We conservatives usually, sometimes reluctantly, follow the party line, but libertarians are a completely different breed and will either stay home or vote third party. Bringing Paul in and softening the war rhetoric would go a long way to keeping our coalition strong in the upcoming election.
somnolence| 1.10.12 @ 10:09PM
A Romney-Paul ticket would DESTROY Obama. Now, tell me, just what achievements is Obama going to run on aside from burying a stinking corpse at sea. Will it be the true unemployment figure of 15.5 percent or the tripling of the deficit? Will it be the refusal to open up the pipelines, subsidizing electric cars, or bailing out unionized G.M at the expense of us all? Will it be giving waivers from Obamacare to all the unions that come begging for them? This is just for starters. I am opposed to Paul's policies on foreign relations and am vehemently anti-drug. No matter. If he is the nominee or the Veep nominee he will get my undivided support to take out the fiend in the White House.
Casey Abell| 1.10.12 @ 11:04PM
Oh great, Romney should spend half his time defending his running mate's bigoted, wacked-out newsletters. Aaron, you're on a roll tonight. First you say Romney might not win by double-digits, now you want a looney tunes veep candidate.
It'll be Romney-Rubio.
Dan| 1.10.12 @ 11:50PM
A Romney-Paul ticket would destroy the GOP! Paul would be a loose cannon in every sense of the word. Makes as much sense as if the elder Bush would have put Perot on the ticket.
Can't wait for Romney-Pawlenty. Zzzzzzz....
Pete| 1.11.12 @ 12:26AM
Paul knows that the next president needs to fire 1 million federal workers to start balancing the budget. Romney needs to embrace firing as being just as important as hiring.
Occam's Tool| 1.14.12 @ 9:54PM
He might snag RAND Paul as veep. That would quiet the Paul bots. Rand is not as insane as his dad.
