One can only be speechless.
Are Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry auditioning for roles as
the new Oliver Stone?
Newt Gingrich attacking “the rich”????
Rick Perry going after Mitt Romney as a “vulture
capitalist”?
What are these people thinking?
Not Reagan conservatism, that’s for sure.
A Newt Gingrich Super PAC
running a 27-minute ad painting Mitt Romney as a “corporate
raider” — some sort of Gordon Gekko on steroids? Gordon Gekko, let
us remind, was a creation of uber-left wing Hollywood director
Oliver Stone.
Newt Gingrich as Oliver Stone? What are these Gingrich
supporters thinking? This is the dumbest thing Newt has done since
sitting on that bench with Nancy Pelosi.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, Rick Perry appeared on Sean
Hannity’s TV show after the New Hampshire results were in, trying
out his own Oliver Stone routine with his “vulture capitalist”
line. Hannity was visibly astonished, perhaps thinking he was
interviewing Al Gore. Then again, Perry was once an Al Gore
Democrat and quite apparently has not changed based on lines like
that.
As Mark Steyn quite succinctly noted on Hannity,
if one married Ron Paul’s foreign policy to Rick Perry or Newt
Gingrich’s latest on how to take away the freedom of Americans to
make a living, one would have the complete liberal
candidate.
Again. What are Gingrich and Perry thinking?
Answer? Not how to pose the Reagan conservative answer to
Obama — or Romney.
My. Oh. My.

Jeff,
I still can't believe it. In these last few days, it looks like I have lost the two candidates who I thought would be the best. Now I have to turn either to "moderate" Romney, social conservative Santorum or Ron Paul.
By the way, what do you think of Jon Huntsman's economic plan.
Jack in Wi.| 1.10.12 @ 11:49PM
Ron Paul has always been the only conservative in this race. Santorum and Gingrich are corrrupt politicians who have always been in the pockets of of some of the worst lobbies in Washington. Since they left office they have made 10's of millions as fixers and lobbyists.
For Sanity, Peace, Prosperity and Liberty, Ron Paul is the answer.
RJ| 1.11.12 @ 12:36AM
Hi Jack,
I really enjoy hearing candidates tell us what government departments and programs they are going to work to end and Ron Paul says it best. He was ahead of his time on the Fed and the gold standard. I admire his defense of the free-market regarding Romney. He didn't take cheap shots like other candidates have done. Ron Paul has a lot going for him, but there are some things, such as the newsletter issue recently covered in the press which I am concerned about.
I heard Rand Paul explain his father's foreign policy last night, which is also a concern to me. I have an Eisenhower philosophy on committing troops abroad, but my fear is that Mr. Paul goes beyond that. I also wish he had more executive experience, but right now, I simply want the best candidate who is committed to reducing the size of government and effectively protect the nation to win.
I am still looking for a candidate, but before this race gets to California, I may be asking you for space on the Ron Paul train.

Keep doing your homeowk on RP, I came across this article and immediately grew concerned if he is teaming with Barney Frank and outsourcing defense cuts to Soros peeps
http://biggovernment.com/tloud.....cuts-plan/
More research is needed...I can support teaming with someone like Jim DeMint to cut defense but not Soros types
Perhaps one of the debate moderators can commit a random act of journalism and ask RP about this in the next debate.
RJ| 1.11.12 @ 10:41AM
Thanks, Indy. I will look into it. And regarding your post below on Huntsman, I am aware of his faults. I am really struggling to find an acceptable candidate.
Indy| 1.11.12 @ 12:21PM
I'm right there with you...depressing, our Republic is riding on 2012, barely hanging on and we have bad choices. But, like you, I am digging into backgrounds / policies of all candidates. Good luck in your quest!
Indy| 1.11.12 @ 9:20AM
Huntsman supports Global Warming and he mocked anyone opposed to "settled science" how do you think he would govern?
Dan| 1.10.12 @ 11:51PM
At this point, Perry would claim the moon landing didn't happen if it could get votes.

Just goes to show what a NeoCon hack Mark Steyn is. 15 trillion in debt and he wants to continue the wars in the Middle East and he has the nerve to call himself a conservative. Like you Lord, Steyn is just another NeoCon Chicken Hawk.

Actually Romney as has been noted is not a Capitalist--he is a Crony Capitalist and they are not the same. In fact I would say this is true of Huntsman and of Paul I think he is Obama in disguise at least in his foreign policy and national insecurity beliefs.
The attempt to make every Republican into a "Conservative" is an outright lie.
bobmontgomery| 1.11.12 @ 7:59AM
Mr. Lord - As long as you are taking the 'conventional wisdom' tack, perhaps you should give a nod to the one that goes "This is the most important election in our lifetime". In that vein, I have two words for you - Individual...................................MANDATE.
Ken (Old Texican)| 1.11.12 @ 8:00AM
Jeffrey, you might be off on this one.
Having been CEO of two very large fortune sized companies that were hugundous money makers, I watched time after time the corporate raiders try to swoop in, manipulate our stock for volatility purposes, and make their money off of shorting and short term bounces.
Rick Perry has seen a number of these raiders here in Texas. He prefers the term "vultures". I prefer "raiders" because vultures in the wild come only after dead carcasses. "Raiders" attack robust companies as well.
W| 1.11.12 @ 8:07AM
Newt and Perry sound like DebbieWassermanSchulz and BarneyFrank. Even if one of them would be the nominee how could they run as a free market Republican in the general election? Their attacks on Mitt are identical to the lefty Dem attacks on the "rich" and "corporations."
Newt/Rick must know they can't win and just want to ruin Mitt.
bill| 1.11.12 @ 8:38AM
Rick Perry will win in SC and FL. Gingrich will be in the 2nd place in the ballot. Romney and Santorum will be "lost in translation." these two Northeastern RINO will be slaughtered (politically) in SC and FL. No country for "big government RINO."
somnolence| 1.11.12 @ 9:05AM
Has anyone noticed that Clint continues to use the same breathless diatribe in every post without hardly changing the words around?
Indy| 1.11.12 @ 9:23AM
Which is why I skip over his posts, I have been spending more time at other sites reading comments because I don't need to read the same rant but he is free to post whatever he wants and he will continue...we are free to read whatever we want.
somnolence| 1.11.12 @ 9:07AM
I know of some city councilmen who would spank Perry's butt in S.C. He will be LUCKY to get 5%, and what is more, he deserves it. He resorted to Gingrich tactics, and that is something Obama would do, not a so-called Reagan conservative. Keep deluding yourself.
PolitiJim | 1.11.12 @ 12:44PM
Really? You don't seem that stupid. don't you realize that it is a CONSERVATIVE position to challenge capitalism that is conducted to destroy economies?
Everyone including Limbaugh had better humble themselves before putting them on the side of MF Global thief and Obama Advisor Corzine not just for the general election - but for the heart of the conservative cause - http://www.politijim.com/2012/.....-newt.html

Nothing Gingrich says, does, or criticises surprises me. I look forward to the day he is spotted running down the street screaming like Dr. Strangelove, the top of his head lifting on and off!
Ken (Old Texican| 1.11.12 @ 2:30PM
Bottom line folks,
we need a nominee that will get people off their butts to vote
We own the country due to our taxes paid to support it.
Newt and Perry have given us a chance. Pick your poison.
