Talk about making a federal case. Quin Hillyer quite literally wants to make one against Newt Gingrich because he said the Winning Our Future PAC’s anti-Romney King of Bain video was based on mainstream media sources like The New York Times, The Washington Post and Bloomberg.

The Federal Elections Commission is not about to open up an investigation because Newt cited a handful of newspapers. Besides who can say if Newt has his information right? After all, The New York Times story on Bain Capital he frequently cited in the weekend debates in New Hampshire was actually published by Reuters. But even if Newt is right about the publications in question it’s not like these are obscure outlets. The FEC is going to need a lot more than that before it rises to the level of issuing a subpoena for Newt’s phone records.

Aaron,

as I mentioned earlier, Hillyer has gone off the deep end on just about all things concerning Newt Gingrich.

Who knew that the guy that restored the GOP to a majority status unseen for forty years would trigger such a rabid response in Hillyer?

I attribute it all to his Georgetown "education."

The rabid, radical, Zionist billionaire Sheldon Adelson, who made his bundle in the gambling business has dumped 20 million into Newt Gichgrich's campaign. We all know Newt puts first and it isn't the USA. This chickenhawk is crooked they are going to have to screw him into the ground when he dies.

My platoon–3rd Platoon, B-Company: 146th Engineer Combat Bn–and a platoon of the 2nd Ranger Bn were attached to a Troop of the 38th Cavalry Squadron for much of the time after we entered Paris 25 August 1944, and the Bulge. We were often among or east of the retreating Germans. This 38th Cavalry Troop was aggressive to the point of being scary! The Cavalry and Rangers did the necessary fighting as we cleared Tellermine roadblocks and abatis. Their activities are spelled out in my book “146 Engineer Combat Battalion–ESSAYONS” REALLY A GREAT OUTFIT the 38TH!

The other thing this highlights is the pathological strain present in Romney's version of Capitalism.

Is the GOP going to defend every single private business activity simply because it is occurs in the private sector? And conversely, is every single act within the public sector tarred by virtue of it having occurred in the public sector?

Such a binary approach smacks of a political and economic want of sophistication.

Heffner's business model of having beautiful women pose for high gloss photos surely qualifies as a business activity occurring in the private sector. But are Republicans eager to defend him, and creatures like him, such as Larry Flynt {whatever his last name is}, Guccione?

Now I'm aware that Bain Capital aren't in the business of porn, but I'm confident that readers here understand the point, that business men that build are accorded a certain level of prestige for their actions. Whereas men like Al Dunlap, "Chainsaw" Al Dunlap, haven't done much for anybody to brag about.

Despite the fact that he enriched himself while carving up companies.

To defend Romney forces the GOP to defend business practices that might be unwise to attempt to prohibit or regulate, BUT NONETHELESS business practices that some people find disreputable, and business practices that caused a great deal of pain to what we now understand are thousands of families.

This isn't merely a mixed record.

Whoever really cares about not re electing the unrepentant Marxist sitting in the People's House had better determine within themselves to vote for the Republican nominee.

(Except Ron Paul).. he IS Obama.

It the race for Romney to lose the election. The conservatives and Tea Party will not vote for Romney. Obama will return to the White House in 2013. I heard that Obama might ask Hillary Clinton to be the VP on the ticket.

Romney, the heartless capitalist throwing people out of work is the same message that Teddy Kennedy used against Mitt in a Senate race. Its old news and one that Obama surely will use anyway. Is it unfair, probably. But, Mitt started the "air" war and now he is going to have to contend with the return fire.

Newt, the scumbag, needs to go away. Quickly.

Casey Abell| 1.10.12 @ 10:17AM

No reason to preach sweet reason, or any kind of reason, to Hillyer about Gingrich. Hillyer is way out to lunch on the subject.

somnolence| 1.10.12 @ 10:20AM

Gallup says today you are very wrong that "conservatives won't vote for Romney". Look it up. Conservatives will be his main voting bloc.
