Andy Hiller of WHDH, the NBC affiliate here in Boston, posed questions on gay rights to both Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum and they both answered Hiller’s questions effectively.

When Hiller asked Romney the last time he spoke out about increasing gay rights, Romney quipped, “Right now.”

Hiller later asked Santorum what would happen if one of his sons told him he was gay. Santorum replied he would “love him as much as the second before he said it.”

Well said.

I am so sick to death of gays, gay "marriage", gay "rights", gay pride, gays in the military, gay, gay, gay.

What two misfits do in private is their business. I simply don't want to hear about it. What gay "rights" is all about is trying to get society's approval for their deviant behavior. That simple.

Dai Alanye | 1.8.12 @ 11:34AM

Correct. Homosexuals evidently feel guilt about their conduct, and wish society to make themselves feel better by extending the cloak of victimhood, and by offering them "rights" beyond those held by heterosexuals.

Hear hear.

bill| 1.8.12 @ 11:03AM

Romney is for

-abortion
-gay marriage
-pull out troops from Afghanistan
-individual mandate
-cap and trade
-RomneyCare
-card-check
-reducing defence budget

Romney may buy NH with money but he cannot win in SC and FL. Rick Perry will win in SC and FL, and get the GOP nod. Santorum voted for raising the debt celling for 5 times, and voted against "right to work state." He cannot win in NH, SC, or FL. He'll be out after FL primary. Gingrich has a lot of baggage, going nowhere. Forget about Huntsman.

Oldefarte| 1.8.12 @ 11:26AM

'Gay rights' do not need to be increased, as they already exist. It's called laws against criminality, and they protect homosexuals as well as heterosexuals. As far as marriage is concerned, it is a sacrament of the Almighty for the purpose of santifying a sexual relationship between a man and a woman mostly FOR THE PURPOSE OF PRODUCING CHILDREN!!!!!!!

Pete| 1.8.12 @ 1:26PM

You are right. I have argued that if the government can change the definition of marriage, then why limit it to two people having some sort of sexual relationship. Why couldn't brothers or sisters marry for financial reasons. Who is to say it is a sexual relationship.
In other words by changing the definition of marriage, the concept of marriage itself becomes meaningless.

Margie| 1.8.12 @ 3:02PM

Oldefarte is correct except for one little thing.

It is not the requirement of the Almighty that for two Christians to marry, they MUST have children.

That's a Catholic teaching, not a Christian teaching.

Richard Howell| 1.9.12 @ 12:11AM

That is not true. There is no Catholic teaching that for two Christians to marry they must have children. In fact it is generally preferred that they do not.
(If you're going to make a claim about what Catholic teaching is, it's always best to cite the relevant paragraph in the Catechism, which is easily found in entirety online.)

Margie| 1.9.12 @ 12:43AM

Ask Nick, he's the resident Catholic apologist. He's the one who told us that.
He'll even use Scripture to "prove" it.
Like he used a verse in Genesis about "be fruitful and multiply".. oh yeah!!!
And I'm sick of having to look up your catechisms only to have you guys still deny them anyway.
What's the point??

Margie| 1.8.12 @ 3:03PM

p.s. I know you said mostly, above.

I'm just like to tweak the noses of the Papists here.

Uh Oh !

It's Startin'.

" Fleeing U.S. Prosecution

In fact, it was prosecution, not persecution, that drove Romney's great-grandfather Miles from the U.S.

Miles Park Romney led his family south of the border to escape imprisonment for polygamy, which Mormons called "plural marriage" and which was banned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the late 19th century.

When Mitt Romney's father George (1907-1995) was a small child, the Mexican Revolution broke out, and the family fled Colonia Dublan, a colony in the north, back to the U.S.

Many of the Romneys, however, chose to remain behind, and most of them are dual citizens.

"We certainly have a love for both countries," Leighton Romney said. "I think that having two countries that you love and two countries that you can serve or be a beneficiary of their service is a great thing."

The Mexican branch of the family is very supportive of their famous relative, and hope Mitt Romney will be more open about his Mormon faith and his Mexican heritage as the race goes on. The GOP candidate has never visited his family across the border, but Leighton Romney feels he and the family have nothing to be ashamed of.

"I don't think that any candidate for any office would shy away from their religion," he said. "I think it's something to stand up and be proud of."

You are so correct. We need to stop men who have had vasectomies getting married, it's wrong.

PCC| 1.8.12 @ 12:28PM

Sorry for the nitpick, Aaron, but it's Andy Hiller, not Joe, although Joe Hiller is fine by me, too.

Hiller has been living off his 15 minutes of fame from 2000 when he asked candidate George W. Bush who was the new (coup-led) president of Pakistan and when Bush replied, "um, the General", Hiller followed up by asking Bush whether his failure to identify General Musharraf was an indication of his being unfit for the presidency.

Bush replied, "Do you know who the vice president of Mexico is?" (or some such), and Hiller replied, "No, but I'm not the one running for president."

This exchange raised the asinine practice of "gotcha" questions to a whole new level, leading inexorably to the Katie Couric-Sarah Palin exchange in 2008.

Aaron Goldstein| 1.8.12 @ 1:21PM

Thanks for catching that. It's been fixed.

Margie| 1.8.12 @ 3:07PM

So Romney wants the Homosexual vote. Yuck. If he were a Christian, he wouldn't be a pander-bear.

Oh, that's right! He's a Mormon cultist, they don't care!

Uh oh! Where's the Con Artist Chef now??? Am I being a plagiarist by using that term here without "permission"???

Margie| 1.8.12 @ 3:09PM

p.s. Too bad Santorum didn't also say that he'd talk biblical sense into his son as well.

That's what LOVE means. You don't let your child get away with thinking Homosexuality is OK.
Why didn't he say, I'd tell him it is SIN and against the will of God, and that he must not consider being same??

Is he also pandering???

Clint| 1.9.12 @ 2:23AM

Have any of these candidates brought up the fact that Obama will put hundreds of thousands of G.I.'s out of work? What is their answer to that and harnessing the economy at the same time? Perhaps they can start by cutting congressional pensions and presidential pensions in half.

9thID| 1.8.12 @ 8:18PM

Neo-Liberal Ron Paul also joined with fellow Liberals and voted under cover of darkness of the Lame Duck session of Congress to force homosexuality upon our combat troops against their will and that of their commanders, chaplains, veteran's groups, and people of faith. Paul also joined Libs in calling the gay WikiLeaks traitor Manning a "hero and patroit"... Ron Paul - the Jane "Hanoi" Fonda choice for CIC...

Capo Clint - you can keep your liberals Romney, Obama, and "Ronbo" along with their gaying of the military. When your messiah doesn't get the GOP nod you will follow him back over to the Liberal-tarian Party or pull the lever for Obama - same difference...

Derek Leaberry| 1.9.12 @ 9:31AM

It's pretty sad that even "conservative" candidates running for office in the "conservative" party fear criticizing immoral and dishonorable behavior. Just another reason to not be bothered by the 2012 elections.
