As I wrote in 2009, Planned Parenthood conducted 305,310 abortions compared to 4,912 adoption referrals in 2007. For every one referral, Planned Parenthood conducted 62 abortions.

The numbers are far worse for 2010, though, according to Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report. In 2010, Planned Parenthood conducted 329,445 abortions and made 841 adoption referrals. A 392:1 ratio.

Pro-choice?

In response to my first column in 2009, a liberal friend countered that a wildly skewed ratio is understandable because Planned Parenthood is an abortion provider, and women don’t go there for adoption services. That’s self-evident. It doesn’t explain why, if Planned Parenthood is truly “pro-choice” and not pro-abortion, its ratio of encouraging abortion over adoption is so abysmally one-sided.

The answer, of course, is that Planned Parenthood is pro-choice only when it comes to one choice — abortion.

Didn't Mitt Romney support Paul Tsongas who advocated "population control" And didn't wife Ann make a monetary contribution to "Planned Parenthood"?

Ed| 1.6.12 @ 11:42AM

Well, yes, Mitt is pro-abortion when it came to running in Massachusetts, pro-life when it comes to running as a Republican candidate for President. No epiphany there, just convenience.

It is a common mistake to consider that for a Liberal / Socialist, words have a dictionary meaning.
That is not true for a Liberal / Socialist.

They are conditioned by the education system to treat words as dabs of paint in a larger artwork.
The meaning of words are only important when they cause an emotional resonance in the reader / viewer.

Liberal / Socialist believe the highest form of artwork is propaganda glorifying and advancing the Socialist cause.
For the Liberal / Socialist, there is no “Truth” and all is propaganda.
The only difference is whether it is for or against the Liberals / Socialists.

We now worship the goddess Choice by sacrificing children in the temple. How far must idolotry go before it is simply too late?

Dixie Pixie| 1.6.12 @ 1:42PM

Greetings Al
“...simply too late...” occurred decades ago.
Did you notice not one Liberal program was cut when the Republicans had control of all three branches of the Federal Government ?
The voters sure did.

The USA has been falling through the Abyss for so long, the Ruling Class of the Boston / New York / Washington Axis is convinced the free-fall is LA-La Land and proof of the “Rightness” of the Ruling Class beliefs.
My best guess is the USA crashes back into Reality during the next Presidential term.

Al Adab| 1.6.12 @ 1:55PM

Hello Dixie:
Thanks for you reply. As far as government goes it likely is "too late"baring a true realignment. I was thinking in terms of divine judgement for idolotry. Have we already "been weighed in the balance and found wanting" or may we yet perhaps "humble ourselves and pray and restore our land."?

Claypoole| 1.7.12 @ 8:07AM

Pray Psalm 85. On your knees, if you are able. God help us.

Warrior | 1.6.12 @ 5:58PM

I always appreciate when a conservative reminds everyone about how the elected Republicans acted no better than Democrats when they had control. Even today, with the power of the purse, Boehner has not punished one government agency with the loss of one penny of funding and that includes Obamacare, baby killing, ACORN (or whatever name they go by now), foreign aid, etc.

Nite| 1.6.12 @ 9:40PM

Boehner is only in control of the House. The Democrats control the Senate and WH and they negate anything the House does.

Warrior | 1.6.12 @ 11:02PM

All spending originates in the house. Boehner and the Republicans can cut the funds at any time. 3rd grade level social studies.

Nick| 1.7.12 @ 12:27AM

Warrior,

Then you need to repeat 3rd grade.
Or, re-read the U.S. Constitution:

"All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills." - Article 1, Section 7

Warrior | 1.7.12 @ 2:02PM

Maybe you have a comprehension problem. Your post while attempting to contradict what I said, only validates my statement. The house can force a vote on a budget by the senate anytime it wants. Instead they allow this charade to continue with continuing resolutions.

Next time, try enter a discussion with something tangible instead of this tired and uninspired drivel.

Nick| 1.7.12 @ 4:57PM

"All spending originates in the house." - Warrior

"All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills." - U.S. Constitution, Article 1, Section 7

Your statement has been completely refuted, by the actual words of the U.S. Constitution. I think that you are misunderstanding the meaning of the word validates. They might teach you this, also, if you decide to repeat the 3rd grade.

Next time, try looking up what the Constitution actually says, not your mistaken notions of what's in it.

Warrior | 1.7.12 @ 5:33PM

Next time try reading and interpreting what the Framers intended. Look at the Federalist Papers, specifically Madison as it refers the power of the purse. Giving you credit for 3rd grade was the biggest mistake.

Nick| 1.7.12 @ 6:39PM

Warrior,

The "power of the purse" has nothing to do with where spending bills originate. Appropriation bills can originate in either house of Congress.

I know this wasn't covered in School House Rock's I'm Just a Bill, so, you will have to actually read the Constitution and a book, or two, on the subject.

Wayne| 1.6.12 @ 12:30PM

I assure you the "pro choice" women hated Palin for having her Downs baby. That is because they believe what the founder of Planned Parent, Margaret Singer believed. That baby in their minds should have been weeded out of the human gene pool. The stated goal of planned parenthood is to decrease the population by lessening the number of undesirable babies in America. Those undesirables being primarily handicapped or black.

C Bowen | 1.6.12 @ 4:53PM

Didn't Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich vote on budget after budget to fund Planned Parenthood?

Warrior | 1.6.12 @ 6:03PM

Shhhh!!! They are carrying the title conservative for this election, regardless of their voting records and activities. Actually, I could make the argument for Santorum having better conservative credentials than Gingrich or Perry.

Nite| 1.6.12 @ 9:42PM

Perry is a staunch conservative and has always been. His voting record and activities show this to be the case. Gingrich and Santorum are big Government Republicans. They certainly did not cut spending. Perry has been a defense hawk for years.

Warrior | 1.6.12 @ 11:10PM

Always? Before or after he served as Texas state chairman for Al Gore's run in 1988? Was that before or after he disagreed with border fences, his opposition of Arizona's attempt to limit the illegals and/or he signed the Texas "Dream" act giving illegals in state tuition rates. He's been a defense hawk of what? Maybe it's just that your posts are dripping with sarcasm and I'm missing it.

Margie| 1.7.12 @ 1:46AM

Dear Warrior,

You would have to go to Heaven and bring down one of the Angels of God in order to have a perfect candidate. But actually, even the Angels aren't perfect, for only God alone is perfect!

God bless and Happy New Year.

Warrior | 1.7.12 @ 2:09PM

Margie,

I'm not asking for a perfect candidate. We have very briefly in the past touched on Bachmann, Santorum and Paul. I could easily support any one of the three. All of which have numerous warts, but bring differing policies and positions to the table (I realize you are not a Paul fan nor likely to become one anytime soon). However, someone states that Perry is a "staunch conservative and has always been one." He obviously was a moderate democrat until at least 1988. I'm just asking for a discussion on fact and logic.

Happy New Year to you and yours also, may it be prosperous and safe.

Planned "Parenthood" performed some 320,000 abortions for which it received $424 million from the government. Is that business lucrative or is it?

fckme2| 1.7.12 @ 4:06AM

Planned Parenthood is about giving those whose sexual education was stunted by uninformed, ashamed, incompetent parents, parochial, inhibited parents. These people will disown their children for being pregnant out of wedlock, but force them to give birth and live in poverty.

These are the same people who refuse to understand that their children could teach them more about sex then they ever experienced themselves. only ignorance will drive their children to an organization that would much rather hand out condoms and education than give out cards for clinics to girls who were afraid of their families.

Is is not only shameful but it is ABSOLUTE SIN to NOT forgive your own children as Jesus forgave Magdalene. Not only are you going against the word of the lord, the Almighty you claim to represent on your mission of sexual oppression and serfdom, but you violate His DEEDS as well.

Planned Parenthood would actually rather be out of business completely, preferring to be replaced by intelligent, caring, involved, understanding, educated, happily orgasmic parents. But YOUR failures Mr & Mrs Rightgeous as parents means they must continue the the fruit of your loins that you abandoned in body, mind and spirit.

Spend $424 Million on condoms and classes in Jr High School and you will definitely see many less abortions.

Pete| 1.7.12 @ 9:02PM

A parody on Planned Abortionhood.

fckme2| 1.7.12 @ 4:09AM

Maybe the real truth should come out. Pro Life is a nice way of saying, "We Demand MANDATORY PREGNANCY and ENFORCED CHILDBIRTH, regardless of the fully born personhood of the mother."

Pete| 1.7.12 @ 9:04PM

Enforced childbirth means my poor man, life. Do you have a problem with life? Do you think murder is acceptable as long as you are too weak and too young to count?
