Santorum will be in the 2nd place, and then will evaporate, just like Huckabee in 2008. Rick Perry will win in IA, and clinch the GOP nod.
Dan| 12.31.11 @ 3:14PM
This isn't 2008, and Santorum is no Pastor Huckabee.

Enough Of The Blarney Michael, Me Bucko.
Now, Begone Ya Orange Bastard.
" The most likely outcome is that social conservatives split their votes and eliminate the possibility of a clear alternative emerging from the state. Mark Silk, an invaluable expert on religion and politics, has taken a look at the most recent PPP Iowa poll and noted that among Evangelical Republicans, six candidates poll within nine points of one another, with Ron Paul and Romney leading the pack at 21% and 16%, respectively."

Hold on there Jim....seem to me I just read where Santorum previously endorsed Romney in 2008. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dan| 12.31.11 @ 3:12PM
It's possible.
Pastor Huckabee was a nonstarter for the establishment, so he was always going to be destroyed.
Bachmann blew herself up.
Paul, what more needs to be said?
Perry blew his candidacy up.
Gingrich had more fire directed on his position than did the HMS Hood, and if he continues to fight on, they'll try to close in for the kill on him.
Huntsman? He's no conservative, unless you're comparing him to Romney, in which case he might be considered one.
If Santorum gets to the point where it's him or Romney, he might well win.
We'll know one way or the other with the primary vote in South Carolina. If that vote which has heretofore been staunchly anti-Romney, if that vote anti-Romney vote starts to weaken, starts to diminish, then we'll know that Romney is likely to prevail.
But even after Iowa and New Hampshire, if South Carolina still rejects Romney after all teh ginned up support he's received, then we'll know that the base is still determined to avoid Romney.
All eyes start to turn to South Carolina and then Florida.........
Dai Alanye | 12.31.11 @ 4:40PM
A slew of conservatives endorsed Romney in 2008, once it came down to a choice betrween him, McCain or Huckabee.
I'm still ticked-off at Fred Thompson for goofing around with his half-hearted campaign. I want my twenty bucks back, Fred!

Ohhhhhh Clit, now we all know THE REST OF THE STORY......TOO SHORT SHORTS? :
'.....At 76, Paul is older than Lake Jackson itself. Dow Chemical Co. created the city for employees in the 1940s, mapping out parts with a business-minded pragmatism......The Lutheran, Baptist and Methodist churches are lined in a row on Willow Drive because, said retired Dow employee Adrian Zambala, "that's the street where they decided the churches would go."....Residents tell stories of Paul biking around town in too-short shorts and know it's their congressman in the saddle from his habit of keeping one arm slung low to his side when he's worn out from pedaling......'

Uh Oh , Israel Firster Smear Bund Girl,Thomasina.
" Here are the numbers for the "adjusted" CNN poll:
Paul 26%
Romney 22%
Santorum 14%
Gingrich 14%
So, both of CNN's headlines in reporting its poll were substantially driven by CNN's decision to exclude Democrats and independents from their polling.
It's certainly true that in any event, the gap between Paul and Romney is not large relative to sampling error, regardless of the composition of the electorate; and it's certainly true that Santorum has risen and Gingrich has fallen relative to previous CNN polling.
Nonetheless, it remains true that the stories CNN told by their headlines were substantially driven by their decision to exclude Democrats and independents from their polling, and therefore, it remains true that the CNN headlines were substantially misleading."

Even Dr.Ron Paul's Israel Firster Staffer Turned Opponent, Dondero/Rittberg Proves That The Media Smear Bund Are Agenda Driven Liars.
" Written By : Eric Dondero
Fmr. Senior Aide, US Cong. Ron Paul, 1997 – 2003
Campaign Coordinator, Ron Paul for Congress, 1995/96
National Organizer, Draft Ron Paul for President, 1991/92
Travel Aide/Personal Asst. Ron Paul, Libertarian for President
1987/88
I have been asked by various media the last few days for my comments, view of the current situation regarding my former boss Ron Paul, as he runs for the presidency on the Republican ticket.
I’ve noticed in some media that my words have been twisted and used for an agenda from both sides. And I wish to set the record straight with media that I trust and know will get the story right: conservative/libertarian-conservative bloggers.
Is Ron Paul a “racist.” In short, No. I worked for the man for 12 years, pretty consistently. I never heard a racist word expressed towards Blacks or Jews come out of his mouth. Not once. And understand, I was his close personal assistant. It’s safe to say that I was with him on the campaign trail more than any other individual, whether it be traveling to Fairbanks, Alaska or Boston, Massachusetts in the presidential race, or across the congressional district to San Antonio or Corpus Christi, Texas.
He has frequently hired blacks for his office staff, starting as early as 1988 for the Libertarian campaign. He has also hired many Hispanics, including his current District staffer Dianna Gilbert-Kile. "

On the one hand, you Paulites dismiss Dondero as a disgruntled employee. One the other hand, you use him as a reference. Paul, by signing on to those newsletters, explicitly approved comments and suggestions about killing blacks, trashing MLK, and ridiculing homosexuals. If my candidate was "publishing" such "newsletters", I would have deserted him a long time ago.

Murphy is a piece of dog excrement. I pray Jared Loughner pays him a "visit." Stop pushing these weak RINOS, they do more harm than good
PattyMor| 1.1.12 @ 1:52PM
For all the hoopla, the real truth is that the Iowa caucuses are not representive of much of anything. Mitt has been running, for 5 years and the "best" he can do it about 25%. So its our "job" to find the most electable I'm Not Romney and fund him, so he can go the distance, win in the southern primaries and knock Mitt down a peg or two. Sometimes you have to be a step or two ahead.
PCP Smoker| 1.1.12 @ 2:52PM
Is New Hampshire representative of anything? Is South Carolina? Is Utah? How about California with its millions of leftists? Is NY? There is a 5 to 1 Democrat to GOP ratio in the State of NY, is that "representative" of the country? Quit trashing Iowa.
PattyMor| 1.1.12 @ 5:11PM
There is an interesting analysis of Newt vs. Mitt candidacy. Mitt's strength is in the blue states (Northeast & Kalifornia). He may lessen the gap, but probably would not win many of them outright. Newt's strength is in the deep south and many of the industrial states. It looks like the
Dr. Paul's surge is waning. Bachmann and the perfectly coifed Jon Huntsman are probably done for. So it leaves us with the strident anti-abortion
Rick S. (abortion is probably on the wane after the discovery of babies in the freezer), perhaps a resurgent Rick Perry and Newt. Newt is somewhat erratic, but has shown us in the past he can pass conservative issues through the congress.
While imperfect, I'm putting my new money on Newt. At least he can debate and parry with the press.
Sick Of The GOP Establishment| 1.2.12 @ 1:58PM
Is this the same Mike Murphy who along with Peggy Noonan publicly disparaged Sarah Palin into a live mic after she was chosen by "President" McCain to be his running mate back in 2008? Who cares what he thinks? Bozos like Murphy continue to sabotage all conservative GOP candidates because "only moderate RINO Republicans can win". The fact The American Spectator takes this creep seriously makes me wonder about them. Mike Murphy is part of the problem, not part of the solution to the GOP's problems.
