Nope, he fades and Mitt wins Iowa by 5 points.

We Are Being Set Up By RINO-CINO Flunkie Stooges For The Ruling Elites' Frontman Mittens Romney.

These Are The RINO-CINO Flunkie Stooges Who Gave Us The Serial Traitor To Conservatism, John McCain Of McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy,McCain-Lieberman,Gang Of 14, Opposing Bush Tax Cuts Of 2001 & 2003,TARP.

Now They Are Trying To Give Us RomneyCare,TARP, Cynical Flip-Flops On Abortion, Gays, Refuses to Sign Pro-Life Pledge, Illegal Immigrants, "Little Chain Saw Al" At Bain, Crony Capitalism Campaign Money Trail.....

In Clitonese, 'asked & asnwered' or C&P'd!!!!!

Dan| 12.29.11 @ 12:57PM

And if your mormon should prevail, ------ what then?

Who here has any confidence in any position that your guy presently espouses?

I've heard some complain of Gingrich for serial wives, what of a guy who has mated with serial positions?

But that's irrelevant, the media is lying in wait for your guy, and it's going to be a massacre, think of it as the political equivalent to the mountain meadow massacre, {a lesser known moment in American history that I'm sure that every American will be fully abreast of if the GOP goes with the mormon}.

And Proud Mormon, you might want to give a thought to how your fellow Americans are going to be thinking of you if Romney should blow it in a general. For those of you who have forced this guy on the party, if he should blow it, ----------- you might be looking at some serious blowback.

Conservatives are going to be livid, utterly livid, and they won't just be livid with Romney, they'll be livid with those who were behind him.

The Knife| 12.29.11 @ 1:54PM

Dan, Mormons don't refer to themselves as Mormons. You're being played.

It's amazing the similarities between Obamaites and Paulites, since both messanically kiss their leaders youknowwhats with no individual rational thought process involved!!!!!

A Grin without a Cat| 12.29.11 @ 11:26PM

Sometimes they do. They prefer to be called 'LDS', of course, but they seldom take offense at being called 'Mormon'.

I know this because I grew up among 'LDS' in Vegas.

Has Ricky Santorum Locked Down The Anti-Mormon Bigot Vote & Will He Pick His Girlfriend Arlen Specter To Be His Campaign Chauffeur.

Yes, Santorum can go the distance. So much doomsaying on the Right becomes self-fulfilling prophecy. "We need an 'electable' guy to appeal to the moderates!" Is that what got Reagan the nomination, or a win in the general election? No!

Let us have more positive thinking, folks! You IOWANS, when you think about Santorum, think this: "IN YOUR HEARTS, YOU KNOW HE'S RIGHT!" Then, stop and consider whether the USA would have been better off with Goldwater than with LBJ. Vote your hearts, dear friends in Iowa -- you know that Santorum and Bachman are genuine conservatives; Bachman, with fewer years and less experience in public service, would make a great VP to President Rick Santorum.....

Let's think ahead now -- an exercise in positive thinking -- to January 20, 2013, when we hear these great words: "I, Richard John Santorum, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully exectue the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God!" Doesn't that have a nice ring to it?

Let's get busy working for Santorum!

Victoria| 12.29.11 @ 1:44PM

This is the same situation as Huckabee in 2007. No, Santorum cannot win nomination & his funds will not take him beyond SC. If Santorum takes 3rd place, and Perry out - sit back and look at your new nominee. Mitt Romney. Same as we came up with McCain, a weak candidate who lost to Obama. Following politics a long time, and I know I am correct on this one. Look for Obama to serve a 2nd term in office. No one at fault but Iowa and the voters.

Silver Bullet| 12.29.11 @ 8:24PM

Enough of you nattering nabobs of negativism! I am so sick to death of the "We are doomed! William, I tell you we are doomed!" bloggers on this site.

I think I need to read something to cheer me -- maybe, say, "Crime and Punishment"?

Haddit| 12.30.11 @ 1:16PM

it's this attitude right here that has this country voting idiots in such as Obama. If you can't see the negativity of the Obama administration then he has won the brain washing game. Please do go away if you can't deal with reality.

Dan| 12.29.11 @ 1:50PM

As much as Santorum needs to surge, he also needs others to fade, and fade right on out of the picture.

Bachmann's self-delusion needs to come to an end, and she needs to wake up to the reality that all the yeoman work she's been doing on behalf of the Romney campaign is NOT going to be paid back by her getting extended an invitation to join him on the ticket.

Perry too needs to stop wasting everybody's time. He embarrassed himself, and demonstrated to a finality his unfitness to be the standard bearer of a movement or party. He needs to return to Texas, where those that are incoherent and inarticulate somehow seem to rise.

Huntsman too needs to go away, as does Paul.

People who are wasting the precious time remaining need to go away, first and foremost is of course Paul, Bachmann and Perry.

We need three people right now on the stage, Romney, Santorum and Gingrich.

Bob Grant| 12.29.11 @ 1:58PM

Dan,

Can you give me an example of the 'yeoman work' she is putting in for Romney? This Meme about Bachmann being a crypto Romney supporter is bizarre.

Methinks it's coming from jealous Palin supporters chomping at the bit for her to enter the race.

Diogenes| 12.29.11 @ 10:28PM

It isn't that she supports him per se. It's the fact that she was never a 'serious candidate' and is now pinning all her hopes on being VP-and trashing any alternative to Romney is her only 'hope'. The only reason she was running to begin with is the realization she had zero future in the House as far as leadership/committee assignments/real influence, so why not sell some books and hope to get tapped as running mate for someone conservatives distrust and detest.

It'll come down to a three and a half man race after SC/Florida-Mitt, Newt, one of the Ricks plus Dr. Demento for comic relief.

Bob Grant| 12.30.11 @ 2:02AM

This is more bizarre speculation about Bachmann.

Look it, this is how it will play out: she'll disappoint in Iowa and hang around 'til South Carolina where she'll disappoint again. At this point she'll pull out of the race but before doing so throw serious bombs in Newt's and Demento's direction for kicks.

She'll go back to congress where she'll play role as a conservative version of Nancy Pelosi.

There's no chance of her sucking up to Romney in hopes of the VP slot. It's delusional and would be political suicide.

Book it!

Diogenes| 12.30.11 @ 8:43AM

A) Possibly she stays till S.C, more likely she's out after she bombs in Iowa.

B) She's more likely to be the GOP Kucinich. The Dems actually pay attention to Pelosi.

C) Of course her hoping to be VP is delusional. Her entire 'candidacy' was. As far as political suicide, it's not like she has a future anyway.

Haddit| 12.30.11 @ 1:20PM

The media would soil itself if Palin got back in the race. They have thrown all the Sh-- they know how to at her. What else they got? Nothing.

Occam's Tool| 12.29.11 @ 8:26PM

Dan: as much as I like Michele, FROM YOUR MOUTH TO G-D'S EARS.

Dan| 12.29.11 @ 2:25PM

Sure Bob,

First she targeted Pawlenty, who was then seen as the prime rival to Romney. Result? Down goes Pawlenty.

Secondly, she went after Perry when he jumped in and was moving ahead, she targeted him over the whole Gardasil thing, which was something of a non-issue related to the bigger problems besetting Uncle Sam. Result? Perry is done.

Thirdly, she spent some time going after Cain, but not as strongly as she did the former targets of her attention.

Fourthly, she launched falsehood and falsehood against Gingrich, and on an issue that Gingrich retained a 98.6 pro-life rating on. Gingrich couldn't really respond because if he had he would have been accused of being arrogant and condescending. Result? Gingrich got hammered, and couldn't spend his time in the debate squaring off against his main rival, Romney.

Pawlenty, Perry and Gingrich have all been hamstrung in responding to her because she's a woman, and to respond aggressively to her entails the risk of driving away potential women supporters. Sad but true political calculation, that it's never a winner for a guy to respond to attacks by a woman.

Recall that Hillary played that card deftly to Rick Lazio's discomfiture, especially when Lazio wiped the floor with her in the NY Senate debates.

Bachmann's been in the can all along, and she's not been in the can for anyone else but Romney.

She's done so on vague promises of being considered for the ticket, ------------------------- she's about to get a shiv herself from the Romney campaign, which would never consider her.

Bob Grant| 12.29.11 @ 2:52PM

An amusing take. I especially like how you conveniently omitted Bachmann's harsh criticisms leveled against Romney which would have severely crippled your entire theory.

Dan| 12.29.11 @ 3:20PM

Her criticisms of Romney were part and parcel of other attacks against his rivals.

But I don't recall her directly mentioning his flopping on abortion.

Or think of it this way, did she bring up the video of Romney telling Planned Parenthood that they "needed someone like him in the White House."

Now had she done that, --- that would tell against my theory of her being in the can all along.

Of all the candidates up on the stage with her, none have the vulnerabilities as Romney, and NONE has the vulnerability on two issues that should be of prime concern to the lady in white, namely, flamerism and abortion.

She hasn't pinned Romney down on his positions on homos, not just in relation to the legal codification of them and their courtship rituals, but hasn't pinned him down on their place in America's military.

BUT, she tears off after Gingrich, and on what issue?

Just think of the issue that she tears into Gingrich on. She accused him of being comfortable with partial birth abortion, when it was him as Speaker that repeatedly sent partial birth abortion bills to Clinton's desk for signature, which he refused to do, thus exposing the Democrat leadership as being not just in the tank for abortion providers, but even for partial birth abortion providers.

You could see that Gingrich was at first puzzled that he was under attack for his supposed want of purity on something related to abortion.

MEANWHILE, in this drama, Santorum, who at the time was no threat to Romney, was left untouched by Bachmann, even though Santorum dragged Specter across the finish line to victory against the ardently pro-life primary opponent, Pat Toomey.

Bachmann's been working for Romney, trying to earn his approval, trying to earn plaudits for acting as an attack dog for anyone who really threatened his hold on the nomination.

She clearly thinks that he'll regard her antics approvingly, and think that such a woman might do well on the campaign trail in the general.

She clearly hasn't any trouble with uttering falsehoods, nor has she much trouble shading the truth to her advantage.

The Intermediary| 12.29.11 @ 2:26PM

No, he can't.

Silver Bullet| 12.29.11 @ 8:25PM

"YES WE CAN!"

Since when would Reagan have subscribed to such a negative attitude. You need your head adjusted, "Intermediary".

Dan| 12.29.11 @ 3:24PM

Here's another take on this post.

Hillyer asks "Can Santorum keep it up?"

Perhaps it would be wise for all of us to ask, if Romney can.

Romney's the one being carried, isn't he?

Romney's the one heretofore spared the kind of vetting and scrutiny reserved for those the establishment deem unworthy of their support.

So Romney is presently up in the polls.

Alright.

For how long.

Bob Grant| 12.29.11 @ 3:58PM

I have to pick one of these clowns so I've chosen the Bozo on the right.

Romney has proven to me he has the staying power the others may or may not have.

Heck, he's been in campaign mode for almost 5 years now. You've gotta give him his due for shear perseverance. It's almost democrat-like.

While I'm queezy on him properly dismantling ObamaCare, I totally trust him on all other issues conservatives care about. His tendencies clearly are pro-business, pro-growth.

I couldn't care less about his religion considering we have at best an atheist/agnostic, at worst a muslim currently occupying the white house.

Gingrich is a non-starter for me because he was paid 1.8 million to block republican reform of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mack during the mid 2000's. This is an original sin in my book and I'll leave it up to God to forgive him for it.

All the others are unelectable.

What other choice do I have at this point?

By the way, you theory about Bachmann is based on pure speculation.

He just might succeed.

Better to be a RINO-CINO flunkie stooge, than a PAUL ARS KISSING IDIOT!!!!!!!!

Diogenes| 12.30.11 @ 12:27AM

"His tendencies clearly are pro-business, pro-growth."

Really? Limiting capital gains cuts to people without capital and embracing tariffs is pro-business? Of course, with him you never know if he actually believes that garbage or is just appealing to brain-dead populists.

As far as Gingrich "block(ing) republican reform of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mack"-I'm still waiting for even one of the Republicans he supposedly was 'lobbying' to come forward. As much as the GOP establishment hates him, you'd expect an avalanche of accusers by now instead nothing but unfounded smears by desperate candidates.

Bob Grant| 12.30.11 @ 1:43AM

So you're buying the story that he was compensated 1.8 million for giving history lessons?

Diogenes| 12.30.11 @ 8:35AM

That's the total his business was paid over a decade. And what I don't buy is that someone who spent his entire legislative career annoying the establishment in both parties could be acting as a lobbyist for that long and none of the lobbyees have yet to come forward.

Haddit| 12.30.11 @ 1:32PM

Exactly Diogenes! Gingrich never blinked when he was explaining it. Unfortunately, some here think the media has no agendas.

Excellent Point!| 12.29.11 @ 3:59PM

A most excellent point! This Romney fellow of whom you speak ... I suspect he has achieved this stealth mode by taking the same last name as Mitt Romney, who of course has been vetted to the point that he can't get over 25% in the polls in spite of having boatloads of cash and having the establishment Republicans shilling for him constantly. Mitt, of course, has been lambasted in every conservative nook and cranny of the blogosphere for his many flip flops and embarrassing panders to liberals, and those who support Mitt support him in spite of that vetting and scrutiny.

But this other "Romney" of whom you speak, the one who has not been vetted and scrutinized yet. Tell us more!

Silver Bullet| 12.29.11 @ 8:35PM

Margie: I agree that Paul would be very difficult to stomach as nominee. And I would vote for Romney if he were the nominee. It would be wrong to stay home and let Obama get a "bye" from this one voter.

And thank you for the positive attitude!!

Again: "I, Richard John Santorum, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States....." We need some positive visualization!! Let us think ahead to that glorious day -- only 388 days from now -- that's 23,271 hours, 25 minutes from this minute -- when President Santorum puts his hand onto the Bible (not the Koran).

Silver Bullet| 12.29.11 @ 8:37PM

Romney and Newt are Obama-lite establishment types and their nomination will guarantee a McCain 2008 Redux. These RINOs will kill conservative voter enthusiasm.

Ron Paul and Huntsman are two sides of Libertinism and are No-Gos as well. Ron Paul comes full circle and to the Left of Obama on Social issues and National Security.

Perry would be palatable if he would recant his weak views on illegal immigration and amnesty. If only he had AZ governor Brewer's cojones.

That leaves the 3-legged-stool of Reagan Conservatism choice down to Bachmann and Santorum.

Hoping that things will come together for the cause of Conservatism by February or McCain/Dole here we come...

" Ron Paul’s “Tea Party” money bomb meets $4 million goal

Ron Paul (R-TX), a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, ended his “Tea Party” money bomb Sunday at midnight. Mr. Paul succeeded in meeting his fundraising goal of $4 million. The Paul campaign plans on using the grassroots donations for additional campaign activities in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. With the donation ticker still climbing, Mr. Paul has raised more than $4,048,000 as of 9am EDT Monday.

Ron Paul 2012 Campaign Manager John Tate urged supporters to contribute Sunday.

“The more resources we have, the more undecided voters in Iowa and New Hampshire we can contact through email, mail and TV to spread Dr. Paul’s message of liberty and free markets that has him skyrocketing in the polls in the early states,” Mr. Tate wrote.

“The establishment knows Ron Paul is the one candidate who is serious about cutting spending, standing up against assaults on our liberties, restoring sound money, and fighting for a return to constitutional government,” Mr. Tate added."
