Notice the L.A. Times doesn’t even call it a “Christmas Card.” But it seems to be defending the Obamas against Palin’s complaint about their way secular official White House Christmas card, suggesting Palin isn’t displaying the appropriate “holiday” spirit by publicly complaining about it. So “Christmas” is on its way to becoming like the term “pro-life,” of use only in conservative circles?

Gee, when I think of Christmas the first thought I have is of a dog sitting in front of a fire place.

What's interesting that Ms. Palin complains about the card's lack of the appropriate message and suddenly she's in the news again. Way to go Sara, keep the news media hounds jumping through your hoops!!!!!

You're just jealous!
LOL!

Interesting, if one is a pre-millenial.

Skippy| 12.23.11 @ 1:33PM

Not sure what the big whoop is.
According to the Art Bell/ Mayan calendar crowd, it would be a waste of time to buy Christmas cards for next year.
Does that make the election moot as well?

Al Adab| 12.23.11 @ 1:38PM

The Mayan cycle simply begins another repetition on Dec. 21, 2012. Of course it requires the sacrifice of several thousand living humans to make it so. Oh well, we sacrifice that many to the godess "Choice" every month ourselves.

Timothy,

If you say so... I mean I for one expect the Anti-Christ to be someone like him.. but I do believe that he has to be a former believer. If you consider that Judas was a type of anti-christ, someone who knew Him, and then betrayed Him, I do not think that Obama has ever known Christ. At least as far as I know.
Do you happen to know if Obama was ever born of the Spirit?

God bless ya!

Oldefarte| 12.23.11 @ 4:50PM

Probably not, but he does know Jeremiah Wright!!!!!!!!!!!!

Margie| 12.23.11 @ 5:06PM

Now THERE'S a Reprobate, good ol' Jeremiah Wrong.

Mandrake| 12.22.11 @ 11:21PM

Sarah who?

Mike| 12.22.11 @ 11:36PM

And in the other news of the day: everybody from Rove to McConnell to Obama beat the crap out of Boehner who could not defend himself because Cantor was holding him from behind.

And you're talking about Palin.

Bob Grant| 12.22.11 @ 11:46PM

Now that Sarah is out of the presidential picture I like her more when she's attacking Obama. This suits her well.

This is her calling.

By the way, she's absolutely right about this.

Al Adab| 12.23.11 @ 11:30AM

Bob:
She is right about this as about many things. You are correct, her calling is to speak the truth (to power) and keep alive the message of freedom.

Margie| 12.23.11 @ 4:50PM

Yep. Amen to that!
And I caught a glimpse of a headline the other day entitled, "Sarah says not too late for Presidential run."
Hmmm.

Margie| 12.23.11 @ 4:57PM

Merry Christmas, Mr. Grant!

Joe Citizen| 12.23.11 @ 12:11AM

Gee, you are so right about this Wlady. Why couldn't Obama get inspiration from one of his predecessors? Say, Reagan's 1987 "Holiday" Card.?

Remarkulus| 12.23.11 @ 6:20AM

Yes, because this country is entirely populated by Protestants and Catholics, and because there are no other religions who celebrate holidays at this time of year, nobody should ever say "holiday" and should only say "Christmas." Besides, even if there were people who practice religions other than Christians living in this country- and there aren't!- they can always convert to Christianity if they don't want to feel left out.

R Martin| 12.23.11 @ 7:53AM

Don't be a putz. It is not that "holiday" should never be spoken but that leftist dogma demands that "Christmas" never be uttered.

Some interest group makes-up a new celebration such as Kwanzaa and ideologists shout it from the rooftops, yet even thinking of the holiest of Christian events gives them the vapors.

I'm not offended by all this; it's just silly.

KennesawJack| 12.23.11 @ 9:57AM

Easily the most adult comment so far.

Skippy| 12.23.11 @ 1:46PM

Agreed.
I'm still looking for the statute that guarantees no-one will ever be offended or feel excluded by anything anyone else says or does.

Al Adab| 12.23.11 @ 2:11PM

Don't give them any ideas Skippy. Merry Christmas.

Margie| 12.23.11 @ 4:55PM

Ugh. I for one will NEVER say, "Happy Holidays" to anyone.
I usually say Merry Christmas (if you celebrate it). Been saying that to our ebay customers like that, too.
What can I say?
Jesus is Lord.

Darklady | 12.23.11 @ 8:18PM

That would be sad were it true.

Charie| 12.23.11 @ 2:01PM

Great comment. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all!

Loadmaster| 12.23.11 @ 7:57AM

Some of theses comments are silly. You must have liked the WasPost card that they produce on Wed. Real funny. Thank God your in a minority.

Buck Ofama| 12.23.11 @ 12:56PM

We must exterminate the commie vermin from the white house.

Margie| 12.23.11 @ 4:56PM

Bucky: Merry Christmas to you & yours!

Oldefarte| 12.23.11 @ 4:48PM

All that's needed are Wright's seasonal greeting of.......GD, AMERICA!!!!!!!!!

Margie| 12.23.11 @ 4:55PM

Oldefarte: Merry Christmas to you & yours!

Oldefarte| 12.23.11 @ 4:55PM

What's truly sad is that no doubt the dog is sitting in front of the fireplace and possibly starving to death, which Michelle-my-belle etc have spent $4 million of taxpayers' hard-earned income to fly/house themselves in Hawaii for Christmas, while those same taxpayers/former job holders are financially scrunging to put two nickels together for Christmas. Oh well, as Jeremaih proclaimed, GD AMERICA [and its taxpayers]!!!!!!!!!

Darklady | 12.23.11 @ 8:16PM

I wonder if it doesn't mention Christmas ... because it's not a Christmas card? Also, because the word Christmas hasn't been used on a card from a President in... I have no idea how many years. Even the high holy Reagan didn't use the word on the White House cards.

Americans are of many faiths, which is why the end of year card from the White House acknowledges this instead of forcing one specific religion on all Americans.

Margie| 12.23.11 @ 9:41PM

Then if it's not a Christmas card, why is it sent out on Christmas? And if Obama is celebrating Christmas in the White House, it's not really Christmas either?

Indeed it isn't, is it~ what he's really celebrating.

Jeremiah| 12.24.11 @ 12:24AM

Incorrect, Darklady. I have gotten 7 or eight official White House Christmas cards over the years - and most DID actually wish me a Merry Christmas. Cards from George W. Bush usually included a powerful Biblical verse. You may have read on some leftist site that Republicans didn't mention Christmas, either, but it simply isn't true. I know. I have the cards.

Carlton West| 12.24.11 @ 7:51AM

LA Times is a loony lefty rag, and liberals don't want cherished tradition or any hint of morality or decency. They want aberration & profligacy.

PattyMor| 12.25.11 @ 5:31PM

The Left will use religion to curry favor, if its to its advantage. Otherwise they just attack Christianity in particular.

AVCurmudgeon| 12.29.11 @ 6:38PM

He sent out the card right after he lit the White House Holiday Tree with the eight candles from the menorah. He really respects everyone, doesn't he?

huli| 4.6.12 @ 9:06PM

Obama is not a Christian. He does NOT believe Jesus is the way the truth or the life and that there is no other God but Him. Moreover, obama supports killing unborn children and eugenics as is clearly seen in his appointment of John Holdren a man who wrote books about forcing Americans to be sterilized, having abortions and who advocates government population control. Don’t be fooled. It’s not hard to seduce a crowd by saying you were on your knees. Big deal. Being on your knees and even praying doesn’t make you a Christian. The only time he’s on his knees is when he’s looking for a vote. Obama has a story for every crowd he appears to. Romney is no better. Romney think he’s going to be a god and live on a planet when he goes to heaven. Obama thinks he a god now on this planet. In a 2004 interview with Cathleen Falsani, Obama said, “I believe that there are many paths to the same place.” Obama also said, “All people of faith-Christians, Jews, Muslims, animists, everyone knows the same God.”

But Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Nowhere in the Bible is there a reference to Obama’s “many paths.” Obama’s father, grandfather and great grandfather were all muslim, this makes him a muslim in muslim religion. He is compromised. He should NOT be chief and commander of our military. And he’s most definately not a friend to Israel.
