College expenses are high because the government (we taxpayers) subsidise it. Do away with guaranteed loans and grants. After a few college administrators and faculty jump out of windows the remainder will cut costs in half.

As a plus, many of the sillier degree programs will starve for students.

Another reason college is so expensive is due to all the worthless departments they have staffed with witless professors who cannot get a worthwhile job because their undergraduate degree does not translate well out in the real world. When I look at some of the drivel being offered at my son's college, all I can do is shake my head…and write another check for tuition, sigh.
