That doesn't matter. Romney needs to win the nomination. A big concern are the votes of people who are planning to vote for Gingrich because they find Romney unacceptably moderate/socialist on health care. The ad takes away Gingrich's advantage by arguing that Gingrich's sins on health care are the same as Romney.
If Romney neutralized Gingrich on health care, Romney's biggest weakness among conservatives, then it doesn't entirely matter whether Gingrich intending voters move to Romney (because Gingrich is now no better on health care and possibly worse on other issues) or move to some other flavor of the month.
It's not about giving conservatives reasons to love Romney on health care. It's about saying that Gingrich is no better than Romney; that neutralizes Gingrich's advantage just as much.

So, Clint, who are you planning to vote for? What if, as it appears will happen, the Republican nominee is Gingrich or Romney? Are you going to stay home? Or perhaps write-in another person's name.... or perhaps vote for a 3rd party candidate? Any of those things will only help to re-elect Obama.
