Paul Comes Out Punching

Ron Paul’s campaign is going after other Republicans agressively today. Here’s his new ad that will run in Iowa and New Hampshire:

As in-your-face as the ad is, its tenor is deferential relative to the campaign’s scathing response to Newt Gingrich’s defense of Donald Trump from Paul’s criticisms, given to Politico:

“We agree, of course, with former Speaker Gingrich - this is a country of people of enormous talent. Those who deliver thousands of babies like Dr. Paul and those who spend their time focusing on promoting themselves for profit. We even have those who lobby, but don’t call it such because, as they say, they can make $60,000 per speech. While those of us in the Paul camp might disagree with Newt Gingrich about whether Donald Trump is the right man to host a serious political debate, we do agree New York is a wonderful place to go at Christmas. We are sure two average Americans like Speaker Gingrich and Donald Trump will have a wonderful time picking out gifts for their wives. We suggest a place called Tiffany’s, we her it is quite nice this time of year and given their celebrity status they can probably get special deals and $500,000 lines of credit.”

Nice line, great ad, but there's the rest of Dr Paul's baggage, and also this (Right here on Spectator):

Reagan freely admitted that he failed to downsize government and that was his biggest failure as President. The national debt doubled under Reagan.

You Zionists here are going rabid. Your day is over. It is time to change your own diapers. After 63 years your wet nurse has quit. Let Israel pay for itself. You can go to hell. We are taking your BS anymore.

I ment that for Mike Rogers., not William R. There is no way in the world that I would ever vote for Neuter Gingrich PHD. His great hero's are Woodrow Wilson PHD, and FDR, the 2 worst Presidents of the USA.

Ron Paul seems completely crazy to me, but if he wins the nomination in the end, I'm going to pretend that he's the best thing to happen to us since sliced bread. And he just might do it this time, I think!! Now how weird would that be? President Crazy Ron Paul!! It's a good commercial though, especially the line, "but when it's showtime, whimpering like little Shih Tzus"!! I'm glad to see one of the Candidates if finally taking off the gloves. But it's that damn, "everything is relative foreign policy" of his, that makes me scratch my head about him. He's off the mark there, Iran getting a nuclear bomb cannot be allowed to happen, but I do like a lot of his other ideas, even if he is completely crazy.

Narf!| 12.5.11 @ 6:53PM

Ron Paul isn't nearly as crazy as you might think. A few loud louts try to make him and his followers look like illiterate idiots who can't do anything but copy and paste quotes they don't even understand. Ignore them. If they aren't being paid by the opposition, they should be because they certainly don't help Paul.

Ron Paul would push congress in the direction of more freedom and less government. The Republican Machine doesn't like him. Wall Street doesn't like him. Big-government social conservatives don't like him. If you're in one of those groups ypu won't like him. Otherwise give him a fair hearing, in his own words not the inane blatherings of people who seem intent on making Paul look bad.

Ah yes, Ron Paul. I was over on the dailypaul yesterday and saw an item about the most important article to make sure every Republican sees. Basically it says that if the GOP wants to win they'd better nominate Ron Paul, because if they don't he'll run on a third party ticket and Obama will win.

I'd give Ron Paul an 80% chance of going third party. Obviously there's a reason he's refused to give a simple "no" answer when asked if he would consider it. All he'll say is that it's not his current intention, a classic politician weaselly evasion.

I maintain, however, that so many of his positions overlap with the far, far left -- on Israel, on military bases overseas, on legalizing drugs and other libertarian ideas -- that he could easily take more votes from Obama than he does from the GOP nominee. Starting with the OWS crowd.

On the other hand, Ron Paul is so out of step with social conservatives that if he got the nomination he would almost certainly have a pro-Israel social conservative third-party challenge. Not that he has a real shot at getting the nomination."

Narf!| 12.5.11 @ 11:55PM

Yeah I used the same handle in both places to confuse you, genius.

Ron Paul is far out of step with social conservatives ... and that's why I like him.

He's not crazy. Not really. He says things to be confrontational and provocative sometimes but he's not crazy.

He's not anti-semitic. He doesn't agree with the current foreign policy ideas of many social conservatives but that doesn't make him anti-semitic.

And most of his supporters are not "Paulbots." Most can do more than copy/paste barrages of the same few ancient out-of-context quotes posted thousands of times. Most even have at least a generally correct idea about what words to capitalize.

I think Paul has very low chances of getting the GOP nomination; he's too far out of step with mainstream Republicans. But if he did, or if he runs on a third-party ticket, he'll take a huge chunk of votes away from Obama, and he'll get the libertarian part of the GOP.

And if he wins, he'll push both parties in the direction of civil liberties and Constitutional government.

Bachmann endorsing Ron Paul ... okay now that's funny.

And points for creativity go to the Revolution PAC, for polling Democrats in order to get higher numbers for Ron Paul. At least they were honest about it. And the Ron Paul team is actively trying to get non-Republicans to register as Republicans, so maybe Democrats will make the difference for Ron Paul. I'd bet against it, but I guess we'll find out!

It kind of makes the point though that Ron Paul is out of step with the Republican Party, when his chances of winning the Republican nomination depend on getting non-Republicans to pretend to be Republicans in the primaries."

The Obamas, Clintons, Bushes, Cheneys, McCains, Romneys, Gingriches...have all backed a perpetual policy of toppling secular, in one case Christian, regimes to be replaced by Islamic radical regimes, but Paul has to explain himself at the metapolitical level to the Iraq really did have WMDs crowd?

We are talking about a country where the Bush Administration used forged documents (Nigerian Uranium, yellow cake) to bolster their case for war, and while the cynic expects no justice, none of the war supporters even seemed to care at abject Treason. Most seem blissfully unaware, in some state of denial, about an obvious rouse.

That is how far our Republic has fallen. I don't think four years of normalcy is anything to fret about, but then, I might well be conversing with people who were easily tricked into thinking Saddam was a threat.

Neutered Gingrich & Mittens Romney Are Serial Traitors To Conservatism & Chickenhawks.

Ronald Reagan,
"Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country."

Milton Friedman,
"I strongly support Ron Paul. We very badly need to have more Representatives who understand in a principled way the importance of property rights and religious freedom."

Yip yip yip. Ron Paul is the Chihuahua of candidates. He will nip at you from under the couch but a good kick will send him packing. I once studied the breeding habits of this tiny beast in a motel room. I recommend you review this research documented in the movie Bruno.

" Iowa poll finds Ron Paul in second, edging past Mitt Romney.

Libertarian-leaning Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R) is outperforming the odd-on Republican frontrunner, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R), in the key GOP primary state of Iowa, according to a new poll out on Sunday.

It’s the third poll so far to confirm Paul’s emergence as a leading candidate for the Republican nomination to the presidency. A second poll, also released this weekend, found Paul trailing Romney by 1 percent — well within the margin of error.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) earned 25 percent support among likely Republican caucus voters polled by The Des Moines Register — a massive upswing from the seven percent backing he earned in the Iowa newspaper’s last poll in October."

Ron Paul is a jew hating nut job who blames the US and the Twin Tower Victims for 9-11.
A DC insider for 30 years and the King of Earmarks whose last earmark request was for over $134,000,000.
A fanatic Jew / Israel hater who supported the radical Code Pink and Terrorists who wanted to invade Israel with that phony terrorist financed flotilla.
Yes , the far left finance this fraud so they can get access to the GOP debates and convention to stir up from chaos for Obama's Marxist comrades.
Ron Paul is a fraud , fool, and a useful idiot of the left.
Paul stands for the exact opposite of the Tea party.

You Seem So Upset This Fine Evening, Israel Firster Propaganda Squad Flunkie Stooge.

Was It Something Our Tea Party Co-Favorite Presidential Candidate Dr.Ron Paul Said ?

Hmmmmmm ?

Dr.Ron Paul,
" While President Obama’s demand that Israel
make hard concessions in her border conflicts may very well be in her
long-term interest, only Israel can make that determination on her own,
without pressure from the United States or coercion by the United
Nations.

“Unlike this President, I do not believe it is our place to dictate how
Israel runs her affairs. There can only be peace in the region if those
sides work out their differences among one another. We should respect
Israel’s sovereignty and not try to dictate her policy from Washington."

While I am not a likely Ron Paul voter, I love the ad. Way to go, Dr. Paul. I hope others follow your lead.

In many ways Ron Paul is the biggest winner of the 2008 GOP field. On some issues, such as the Fed, he was the lone voice. These days, others have joined him. Ron Paul has helped set the course of the debate.

Nick| 12.5.11 @ 11:57PM

Burt, any chance you could provide hard facts to back up your ridiculous and biased claims? I will wait for an answer even though i know you don't have one. The reason Ron Paul can't be attacked by the other candidates, and that you must stoop to this level to try and smear someone, is because no REAL dirt exists. Maybe you will realize that in your futile attempts to prove otherwise but something tells me you will not even bother to look for yourself, instead you will rely on the artificial commentary of your media gods to form your opinions of the best candidate.

Clint| 12.6.11 @ 6:47AM

Do Your Homework burt.

Dr.Ron Paul,
" I have never voted for an earmark. I voted against all appropriation bills. So, this whole thing about earmarks is totally misunderstood.
Earmarks is the responsibility of the Congress.
If you cut off all the earmarks, it would be 1 percent of the budget. But, if you vote against all the earmarks, you don't cut one penny. That is what you have to listen to. We're talking about who has the responsibility, the Congress or the executive branch?

I'm saying, get it out of the hands of the executive branch. Just listen again about what I have said about the TARP funds. We needed to earmark every penny. Now we gave them $350 billion, no earmarks, and nobody knows..."

@ Clint, et al.,

What is the deal with you Ronulans?

Do the same three or four of you just sit around in your Ron Paul fan club jammies all day and troll the comments pages for any mention of the great Dr. Ron Paul? Even if this guy was as brilliant as you say, the creepy, cult cargo vibe I get from you guys is a definite turn off.
