Daniel Halper of The Weekly Standard draws our attention to President Obama’s remarks at a campaign event last night in New York City during which he praised himself for his pro-Israel policies - I kid you not. Halper highlights a paragraph from the speech. Let me display the first two sentences from the aforementioned paragraph:

I try not to pat myself too much on the back, but this administration has done more in terms of the security of the state of Israel than any previous administration. And that’s not just our opinion, that’s the opinion of the Israeli government.

Methinks this might be news to Benjamin Netanyahu and his cabinet and for that matter the Israeli people. You can read Obama’s whole speech here.

Anyone who publicly claims, “I try not to pat myself too much on the back,” is precisely the sort of person who does so on a daily, if not hourly basis. I am sure if we were to see Obama’s bare back there would be an imprint of his hand. Of course, President Obama has little reason for such self-congratulatory gestures. But that hasn’t stopped him for patting himself on the back for Obamacare (“They call it ObamaCare? I do care! You should care, too.”), rising stock markets (if anything the markets tend to plummet when he opens his mouth) and lest I forget the Top 100 Stimulus Bill Projects. Needless to say, modesty and humility is not Obama’s strongsuit. That is unless he finds himself in the presence of Chinese Communists or to Saudi Kings.
